  • Great tool for the price.
This is a great tool and IMHO definitely worth 5 stars. In sunshine with the help of the laser target plate, I could easily see the lines over a 20’ distance. Immediately after sunset but still daylight I could see the lines clearly over 50’. As suggested by another reviewer, I tested the accuracy over 25’ by marking spots on a near wall and another wall 25’ away and then switching the level to run “in the other direction” but lined up with the same marks. I measured an accuracy of 3/32” over 25’. Not quite the claimed accuracy of 1/13” over 33’ (a conversion from the metric claim of 2mm in 10m). But for my purposes, (building a carport), an accuracy of better than 1/8” in 25’ is good enough. Some reviewers have claimed that it’s not actually self levelling, I presume because the documentation say to put it on a level surface. In reality, it needs to be on a somewhat level surface, not a perfectly level one, since the internal pendulum only swings a small amount. If the surface is not level enough, you’re warned by the level lines flashing, but in my view it has to be pretty unlevel for this to occur. My one criticism is that it starts up with both vertical and horizontal level lines. You can switch to only horizontal or only vertical by pressing the power on button. I found that if I forgot to switch to horizontal only and then looked down on the device I could get an eyeful of laser. Hasn’t done me any harm, its just annoying. ... show more

  • Bright and accurate. Good budget option. Didn't like how it operates.
I went with another more expensive brand. The laser is accurate and brighter than the other one (turned both on and they aligned well, only 5mm difference at 30 feet). I don't like that it uses AA batteries, so I need to take them out before putting away, in order to prevent battery leakage ruining the device. The battery compartment can't be opened with the nail - needs a coin / screwdriver. It only has one switch and one button. It can be confusing to use the combination to turn on/off and switch to/from the fixed mode. Overall this is a quality product for a low budget. I decided to spend $20 more for a lithium laser level with more buttons. ... show more

  • Works Great
nothing wrong with a "no-name". Way cheaper than the name brand and works just as well. I keep finding good uses for it on projects.

  • works great in the day light
Worked right out of the box....wonderful inside but also worked great outdoors in the shade. Helped a neighbor shoot some lines so they knew how much to slope their yard away from the house.

  • Good tool at a good price; how to verify calibration
I used the horizontal plane of this laser level to determine where to add soil to adjust a yard area to a uniform very slight slope. I used a makeshift stadia rod made from a tape measure clipped to a scrap aluminum extrusion. Even in bright sun, I could see the green line on the stadia rod up to 25 feet from the laser by casting a shadow on the rod with my hand or the clipboard I was plotting elevations on. As another reviewer said, it helped to know roughly where the line would be, and by 25 feet from the laser it was very faint, but still just visible enough to read once I found it. Later in the day, as the sunlight faded, the laser was bright enough to see easily over much longer distances. Unlike another reviewer, I received my level in the "locked" position, as it should be, so I was not too worried about its calibration. Just to be sure, I tested its calibration immediately indoors and found its error too small to detect at all (that is, within the 2-3 mm width of the laser line) at 40 feet, which I figured was plenty good enough for leveling dirt... so good that I probably got lucky with this particular unit. Here is how I tested: Set the level up on a tripod next to one indoor wall. Mark the horizontal line on the near wall; turn the level and mark the opposite wall. Move the tripod to next to the opposite wall and adjust the height until the line matches the level marked there. Then rotate the level and compare the laser line on the first wall to the original mark on it. The difference is the total error over the round-trip distance from the first setup point, to the second, and back. So if you see a 1/8" difference with the two tripod setups 20 feet apart, the error is actually about 1/8" in 40 feet. I could not detect enough error to measure it.) I used four old 1900 mAh rechargeable AA batteries, turning the laser on only periodically when needed for measuring or for short periods of work with frequent checking. After two days of work and two nights of leaving the batteries in the unit overnight (turned off, of course), the batteries are roughly half discharged. If I had to leave the laser on continuously for a job, I would bring a second set of batteries and charge them while I used the first, just to be sure. But if you use the laser to lay out pencil marks or take elevations periodically, turning it off at other times, then battery use does not seem to be a problem. This level comes with a small stand-up scale for leveling floors or other surfaces that you set the level on directly. This is a essentially a very short, self-supported stadia rod with a zero mark at the height of the horizontal laser above the unit's feet. The level also comes with a magnetic bracket so you can easily mount the laser to ferrous surfaces. I found the magnets more than sufficient to securely support the laser on the door or sides of my refrigerator. The included soft, slightly padded case holds the laser and both accessories with moderate protection. You could even jam in an extra set of batteries. As some other reviewers note, the manual is very brief, but this tool is pretty simple and does not require anything more. The manual does not explain the floor-leveling scale or the magnetic bracket, but if you can't figure them out, you probably don't need them. One can pay a lot more for this kind of tool, but unless you really need longer range in bright sunlight or want to be able to calibrate it yourself, this one will do the same job. ... show more

  • Very well made laser projector.
Works great and very easy to use. For my needs was not precise enough. However; for a weekend worrier reno use more than enough.

Pointless at 10’ or more during daytime. Works on interiors just fine but outdoors it’s not usable.

  • Laser Level
Have been wanting a solid laser level for a bit now and finally spent the money to get one for a recent project. This laser level worked extremely well for what I needed, had crisp and bright green lines and loved the pendulum feature for auto leveling (just be sure to lock when you get it where you want it). Very easy to use overall and the magnetic bracket for mounting worked well if you have a surface that's magnetic; I ended up using a camera tripod to get the height I needed without issues (due to space size and predominately drywall) as its the same thread style. ... show more
