I was looking for a Litter Robot alternative. The Bastrumi unit has a small footprint yet holds more litter so the cats can use more than once if necessary before a cleaning cycle. It also has a deodorizer function that helps minimize odor. The unit is lower to the ground, making it easier for the cats to use. The app works well and has many options to customize. Most significantly, support is very responsive to providing help when needed. Unlike Litter Robot support which seems it is a call center of non-cat people reading from scripts, Bastrumi support people are knowledgable about their product and politely helpful. I would recommend to fellow cat owner friends.

I will admit, I was not wanting to spend this amount of money on a litter box but, my cat was out of control and I was at my wits end. I had tried every litter box, litter and trick I could find and she still would pee in inappropriate places or pee outside the litter box, wetting the floor. It was a constant battle. So, before I rehomed the cat, I gave this a shot. She is like a different cat. Thank goodness!!! I set up the auto clean app and the alerts and I swear, she is using the box religiously and the amount of waste in the waste bags prove it. I never ever scooped as much in a month as this collects from her in a week. My constant searching the house for her inappropriate spots is a thing of the past. My sanity is saved and so is her home. A definite win/win to me. It is quiet and so far, works like a charm. It takes up little space, there is no smell and there is always a fresh, clean litter bed for her next visit. Absolutely recommend

I have 4 cats and have tried out a few different automatic litter boxes, and this is the worst one I’ve seen. I ordered it because it was small and easy to move around (I already have bigger ones). However, the design and product are absolutely worthless. To start with, the step that you put on the front for the cats does not stay, and falls off every time it goes through a clean cycle. It is very difficult putting litter into the robot because of how small the opening is, and it is a struggle even with the small bags (vs boxes) of litter. BUT, the absolute worst part.. the design for clearing out the waste is bad. The bag has to be put on it vertically, and according to GRAVITY, when it cleans, the bag gets knocked out… when you open the hatch to change the bag, it’s often just clumps of waste all over and not always in the bag. This is absolutely disgusting. Also, the hatch to close broke after only a month, and there is absolutely no customer service, so I have no way to get a replacement latch. This is an absolute waste of money, and I am very frustrated. Spend the extra money and get the name brand one.

I’ve had this litter box for two weeks and am pretty dang happy with it so far. I have three cats. One is 15 with a bad back. He really hates big steps and pees on puppy pads a lot of the time. At first, I left the little grate off the front to give him a smaller step, but he was pretty consistently peeing at least partially out of the box. Luckily, it wasn’t too terrible to clean. Everything comes apart easy. I added the grate fearing the worst, but it immediately fixed the issue, and he uses the box 100% of the time. My one year old cat has been giving the machine a workout. Every time a cleaning cycle starts, she’s in and out of it, standing on top, digging and sending litter every which way, and most recently removing the filter the litter flows through (why CeCe why!) I actually had to change it from auto to two hour intervals so she doesn’t have the thing running all day lol! My nine year old cat was pretty scared of it for the first few days, but sitting nearby the box with him and giving him lots of pets sorted him out. So, the box itself. Overall, I really like it. There is no smell. It has an app that tells you when the box has been used, the cat’s weight, if the waste compartment is full. You can control the box from the panel or your phone. And changing the waste bag is super easy. Adding litter is a pain. The opening does not allow direct pouring. I pour it into a little Tupperware bowl and then into the box. The placement of the UI is not super hygienic, but it looks like they’ve fixed that in the new design. It is noisy enough to wake me up, so I have it set to not run at night. It even shuts off the UI lights. Overall, I love this thing. The cats do too, CeCe too much maybe. It’s well thought out, safe, and does one hell of a job cleaning up after three cats. 4.5/5
