    • The Seiko SSK-025: A GMT Automatic at a Quartz Price
The Seiko SSK-025 offers a lot of value for what you get: automatic winding, cool matte black stying, GMT hand, and good lume for nighttime use. It also has a crystal caseback so you can observe the escapement whizzing around. Honestly I don’t see anything else out there offering this value this watch gets you. At this price point, there are going to be some sacrifices. You get a very thin leather NATO strap. I am not a fan. I immediately ordered a replacement strap with a clasp from a third party. The case is steel, so with the automatic movement it is a bit heavy on the hand. The automatic winder is never a bother, I can only hear it when I swing my arm wildly. The watch comes on a pillow in a presentation box inside of a shipping box. There is a 20-page warranty booklet but no instruction manual, because Seiko is apparently trying to save the planet or something. You have to go to the Seiko website to get the manual. I would rather have it the other way around, Seiko. I am observing about -6 seconds accuracy, so not too bad in that department. Overall, I think this watch is an excellent buy. ... show more

    • Disappointing
The manufacturer's warranty card was removed from the packaging, the seller later clarified they provide a warranty similar to that of the brand, but it is not useful if you live outside the US. Unpacking of the product was disappointing, the watch case came open with part of the strap on the outside. Not a good experience for my first automatic watch. ... show more

I took this Seiko 5 Sports GMT straight from the box to a whitewater rafting trip in the Grand Canyon, and it performed flawlessly. The lume stayed bright all night, and it handled constant water exposure without a hitch. I swapped the original band for a silicone strap for comfort and water-friendliness, which worked perfectly. I’ve already received several compliments on its look. If you’re after a simple, tough, and dependable watch, I highly recommend this one. ... show more

    • Best bang for the buck in automatic watch world?
I own over a dozen watches, some cost as much as $9k, some as little as $150. This has got to be one of the best buy’s for the money. With this purchase I now own 4 different GMT watches—this is the only one less than $1500.. for the $215 I paid, simply a terrific watch for the $$. The strap is the very thin, but at 20mm this is a strap monster and takes to lots of different looks. It wears a little bit small on the wrist and of course, for the purists isn’t a “true GMT” but it works great for international travel and I love it. Seiko has another winner here! ... show more
