I've had this watch for over 2 months now. It is my second Seiko watch but my first automatic watch. I haven't wound it once since I bought it. One thing that is hard to get used to is adjusting the watch manually for every month that isn't 31 days long. I got so used to the digital watches doing that automatically it seemed like a challenge at first. But you get used to it. It is comfortable, looks good and isn't that hard to setup. ... show more

By far my most favorite daily watch currently. I work in construction so I am eager to see how it holds up over time. It’s paired with a khaki colored NATO strap and really compliments the off white/khaki colored watch hands and face numbers.

    • What is important to know …
I do not recommend the Seiko Automatic (4R36), if accustomed to quartz watches. • Does not come with a paper instruction manual. It must be downloaded as pdf from their web site. o Manual warns not to set Day/Date between 9pm and 4am, as it “may cause damage”. Mine is apparently damaged. I cannot use the instructions to set Day/Date, but I have to use a work around. • Accuracy is measured per day for this mechanical watch, not the months or years available in quartz watches. Manual winding of the mainspring is recommended daily. • Mainspring operation is only rated for 41 hours. The automatic wind feature requires wearing the watch a least 10h per day. • The watch band appears to be Additive Manufactured using a flexible polymer. I immediately changed it to an elastic nylon (WOCCI). I have had Seiko watches for the past 42 years, and this model 4R36 is the worst example. ... show more
