Bought this reel a few months ago to go along with a 7' ugly stick i bought last year. Used this reel probably a half dozen times. Yesterday got a big hit fishing at Marco Island Bridge (Florida). It was a big fish! Gave it a tug to set the hook, let the fish run a little, as soon as I tried cranking the reel it failed. Felt like it slipped a gear or something? Could not get the fish in, line eventually gave way. Reel is now trash! ... show more

bought 6000 model and it is equal to 4000 size penn. It is marked as 6000 series so misleading at best. will update after tested on beach.

Just as good as my penn battle III 5000. Not sure if it's my line R pole but it throws great . Going 2 get another 1. Put some Braided line on it from Amazon.
