  • Three years in service, so far, so good
Being used to store video in a security NVR.

  • Takes a beating.
This thing has had eight UHD PIR Cams running on it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 months straight now with no errors, no lost data, and no problems of any kind. While I realise this is not that long, I do have to submit a review while it's still relevant. I do have four more cams on it but they are interior and never trigger. Under testing the write speeds have handled the load from all twelve but this is never encountered in day to day. What it does deal with day to day however, is a constant barrage of writes from three to four cameras at once. With our setup in this environment it is not too uncommon for all eight to be demanding constant writes from multiple triggers. The point being in the four months there have been a lot of rewrites and it's still holding like new. Highly Recommended ... show more

  • 4.5 years later...
Original Review: I put this 4Tb surveillance-class drive in my old PC to replace a 1Tb drive that I had dedicated to video media. (This is not my boot/system drive.) This disk is now holding video pulled out of my TiVo (and then converted), and ripped DVDs. I have Plex Media Server is dishing up these videos to my Roku (via the Roku's Plex app). There's noticeably better performance during reads (streaming to my Roku) and writes, than the standard drive that this replaced, even on this old machine. Very pleased. Review Update 12/22/2021 4.5 years after purchase: Still going strong! Disk is now basically full (lol) but it is performing like a champ and still tests out with 0 errors. A couple years ago I moved this disk into a new (refurbished) Dell Precision workstation. At this point I only wish it was larger. lol ... show more

  • Good Hard Drive For the Money
I have four of these drives located in a NUUO security NVR. They have been very reliable and have been problem free. I would buy this drive again.

  • Went bad in about 2 years
My drive is now in the hands of Seagate, after having to RMA the drive due to reallocated sectors showing up in SMART. It worked fine while it lasted, no data loss occurred. It was not used heavily. Hopefully Seagate will replace it under their 3 year warranty. This will be my last Seagate mechanical drive; I've had too many of them fail, while no WD Black drive I've used has ever failed or taken errors. WD blue drives suck also, so it is not a manufacturer problem, it is a cheap hard drive problem, as they just don't last long. I expected at least 4 years out of a low-use drive, however. ... show more

  • Lasted 3 years 4 days
A tad bit late review but I bought this on February 15, 2017 and today February 19 2020 it died . Now I have been running it 24/7 in my home security system but it seems weird that 4 day's after the warranty expires it dies . Oh well live and learn .

  • 1 Year 8 Months 8 cameras
I got 1 year 8 months from this drive. 8 cameras 10 fps at 720. 24/7. My DVR has no fan and very minimal air flow holes. A few power outages during that time. I'd buy another one.
