  • Good Hard Drive Fast Enough
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
The Firecuda is a good hard drive all around. I have a Dell XPS 89830, and I had to replace the original HD because the factory install put a large angle head SATA cable on the HD. I clean the dust out of my PCs twice a year. Opening the PC eventually weakened the SATA cable and it broke. The power supply swing out mechanizm has a bar that was hitting the SATA angle head cable connector a bit too much. I put a stratight SATA cable on the SATA port on the original HD. I tested the port by wiggling the cable and the HD port broke off. I glued gunned the thing together to get buy until the Firecuda arived. The original HD is a standard Seagate HD. The Dell XPS 8930 is a bit slow without the Optane module enabled OEM Seagate Hd. With the Seagate Firecuda, it boots fairly fast without Optane enabled. There is a big difference. With Optand enabled, Firecuda, it is faster yet. There is one thing about the Firecuda that people must know about. The drive is noisy when it reads and writes. The noise doesn't bother me because I'm used to the old Hitachi HDs that sound like jet aircarft spinning up when HD starts on cold boot, and the read, write noise was loud with the Hitachi HD's back in the day. You can get used to the noise. The only time it might bother is when recording audio or something. You could use a cartoid unidirctional mic if needed. I myself think the noise is normal, and would rather have a noisy reading, writting durable drive that a flimsy quiet one. When there is not activity, the drive is silent. There is nothing wrong with the Seagate Firecuda hard drive when it makes the noise when reaing, writing. Anyone with any experience knows what HD read, write noise sounds like. All HDs I've had make some writing noise to some degree. Some are very quiet, but still audible. I would recomend the Seagate Firecude 4tb hard drive. I tested it and it passed tests with no issues. It is fast and good for gaming in my opinion. That is my opinion for the games I play. ... show more

  • Recommend this purchase for all PS5 owners
Capacity: 2TB Style: 530 w/ Heatsink NVMe - Gen 4
Extremely easy to install and its super-fast. I can't tell the different between playing games on this drive versus playing on the internal console drive. I don't know if there's a speed difference to ram, but I did notice that on COD MW2 and Last of Us Part 1 when played on the console drive, there were some occasional lags. Since I've moved those games to this drive, the game play has been seamless. Maybe it's a coincidence. I don't know. But, performance is clearly top notch with this drive. Highly recommend for any PS5 owner. ... show more

  • Louder than the Barracuda drives
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
I haven't played a game with these drives yet. But I did use them to double the size of my drives in my PC. I had a 1TB HDD Barracuda drive (J) and a 3TB (K) one that I upgraded to the two 4TB Firecuda drives. I moved my Videos folder from my K drive to my J drive and it moved the files rather quickly, so in that respect they are faster than the Barracuda drives. However, I never really heard the Barracuda drives before. I can hear these Firecuda drives seek when I first turn on the computer and do something with them, like launch an app. Before I upgraded my OEM 256GB SSD to a 1TB SSD by another vendor I installed apps on my 3TB K drive. And that worked fine. The power intensive apps I launched from my SSD and less power intensive apps I launched from my HDD. And I never heard the Barracuda drives. I saw the drive lights on my PC, but didn't hear the drives. So, I'm a little disappointed that I hear these more expensive Firecuda drives. Having said that, it has only been momentarily when I first turn on my PC. I'll play a game and see how the drive behaves then. As for Seagate support. I initially had issues with my J drive. I didn't realize the 1TB drive was formatted MBR so when I cloned it, the Firecuda drive would not expand to its full size. I also was having trouble reformatting it and removing the drives, because Seagate tools created two drives on my PC. Support told me the drive was bad and to return it for a new one. I eventually figured out how to reformat the drive and get it to work as a GPT drive, remove the extra drive, and then I manually moved all of the files from my old J drive to the new Firecuda drive. So, I will give support 0 stars. They were not helpful. ... show more

  • Seems to be working fine!
Capacity: 4TB Style: HDD
I say "seems to be" because my last Seagate drive failed within a year of use, necessitating this purchase. So far, though, it's humming along and I have no complaints. Will update if it fails!

  • Very easy 4TB install !!
Capacity: 4TB Style: 530 w/ Heatsink NVMe - Gen 4
Very easy to install and format in my PS5. Have already transferred all my saved games on an external hard drive which I was unable to play PS5 games from. No more of that now that I have a total of 5 TB of storage space.

  • 4Tb unit works perfectly
Capacity: 4TB Style: 530 w/ Heatsink NVMe - Gen 4
Not much to say besides it's on the pricey side if you go 4TB like I did. But it works seamlessly and super easy to install. All games are now stored on this M.2 and it works totally fine, I don't notice any difference at all, performance is equal as the original 1TB that comes installed from factory. I wish the PS5 operational system would allow using this M.2 storage for system backups, it would be much faster than using external units, but that's another subject. ... show more
