More Comments Added: My biggest problem with S2S is that I cannot help but think that they rush these things into production before they fully field-test them. There are recurring problems, most are stupid complaints like "the raised writing is difficult to clean", but some, "the lid cracks" and "some pots retain food smells" are the most common and should be addressed. My biggest complaint about S2S Customers is that they abuse the product, then whine about how it melted when they put it in a bonfire or it is difficult to clean around the raised fill-markings. Really??? Properly used, these are excellent products. So Read the freaking directions people! These are camping pots for small-burner stoves. They are NOT to be used over a bonfire or on your home stove. S2S has a PDF describing this. Read it! OK, the bad things. I have a number of these and one mug cracked the rim (epoxy fixed it), one bowl fails to remain folded and the retaining clip on my x-pot tore (fixed with super-glue). Those are the problems I have seen though I have heard some complaints about some of the products retaining food smells. I attribute this to Inspector-45 falling asleep in the Indonesia plant as only a few people complain about this. I bought the 2.8 liter x-pot as it was on sale and I thought that it might be a good idea to save space in my kayak. Plus it was small enough to fit through my hatch opening. I am the guy who asked if you could use the x-pot on a JetBoil and yes, you can! Any stove works so long as you keep the flame inside the marked ring on the bottom (refer to the above-mentioned PDF) and use the pot-support for the Jetboil (Shawna forgot the support and set my MiniMo on fire so USE THE SUPPORT!!!). I loved the thing because when folded, it nested inside my JetBoil frypan and when I cut a bit of sleeping pad foam to fit, it protected the lid from cracking and when I covered said foam with aluminum tape, I had a trivit!. Plus I can nest my x-mug inside my x-bowl which nests inside the x-pot which nests inside my Jetboil frypan which fits inside a Coleman frypan case which is a great space-saving design. Note that in the pics I am using an elastic band to hold the bowl folded and the foam lid-protector has aluminum tape to protect the lid. In another pic you see the bottom of the lid-protector. Keep the flame inside the marked line on the bottom of the potand you will be fine. Bad: Ok, some pots retain food smells but that may be a quality control thing at one single plant. My x-mug broke the solid rim and required epoxy to repair. One x-bowl fails to fold. Again an isolated quality control issue as the rest of my set seems to be ok. BUT... when I did the Colorado River last month, I washed the pot and hung it from a tree, then in the morning I found that a mouse had managed to climb down the cord and chew through the x-pot near the base. Well, it as my fault and had nothing to do with the company but what-the-hell, maybe they can sell me some repair silicon to plug the hole? S2S could not but offered to replace the pot at 1/2 price. Not a bad deal when you hear people complain about S2S customer service. I found them to be more than willing to work with me. The X-pots come in three sizes, small, medium and large. The large one is made for a family, the small one for a couple and the medium one for a very hungry couple. I keep the large one home unless I am cooking for a group and I traded the damaged medium pot in for a new small x-pot which seems to be the perfect size for a couple in the Wild. It also nests smaller items so I can nest the x-cup and x-bowl within the x-pot so I have a couple mixing bowels handy which saves a lot of space. The lid still has issues. It is too hard and fragile so is developing spider-cracks despite the protective cover I made. I have seen a number of x-pot lids that were cracked & broken (bad design) and a few that were melted (customer abuse) but none of my x-pots retain any smell and cleaning them is easy so long as I am willing to use a little elbow-grease. All in all, once they solve the lid problem, I think these will deserve 5-stars.

Used this on a four-day trip in Colorado with a 3000BTU burner. You can pretty much use it to cook anything that has liquid in it. I cooked rehydrated chicken chili, rehydrated spaghetti and rehydrated taco meat with beans. Downside is that the pan isn't really non-stick and easily gets too hot in the middle. You must keep the heat low to prevent food from sticking and you must stir almost continuously to prevent a thick layer of crusted food from building up at the bottom. Still, this pot is incredibly light and nests perfectly inside the Sea to Summit 8 inch skillet. The skillet works far better at preventing sticking as long as you use oil and heat the oil prior to adding food.

Buying again to replace one lost to rodents... The mice found a way into a sack (suspended on a rope) where a _clean_ x-pot was stored folded and shredded it to pieces. This may be due to the fact that the silicone part retains some food smell. Just beware this may be a problem. Good: Aluminum bottom seems to spread the heat a little better than a stainless pot of comparable weight/side. The lid doubles as a strainer which is very convenient. Cons: Other than being liable to be eaten, lid developed some cracks and warped slightly after first few uses. This didn't affect the function though.

Ok. .firstly. . Most of the Sea to Summit gear, I LOVE. THIS I've used three times, it's been gently, carefully and precisely packed as I always do with countless other gear in my 60L pack, since I got the item. The lid is already cracking in several spots. PROS It works really well for boiling water for pasta with my daughter, works great for freeze dried chicken soup with my son. The lower actual pot part of this Xpot is very convenient to pack in with other necessities and the thicker silicone, similar to the Xshot, gives piece of mind when using with fire and hot foods, unlike the XLbowl, (an entirely different review altogether). CONS It's lid, though a smart design, is made out of apparently trash material, considering my care in storage and usage. At the top where a tab of silicone is supposed to act as a small handle, is a spider web of stress cracks. Around the circumference of the lid, MORE stress cracks. Overall I'm very disappointed especially considering the price. I'd really like a refund but even more so would prefer it to be a better designed/field tested, complete package, so that I could boast about another great Sea to Summit product. That just isn't the case THIS time. Perhaps a flat or recessed lid vs the convex would have a better structural redundancy or even make it part aluminum and silicone like the rest of the pot? You are on the verge of an absolute home run here, Sea to Summit, if only you fix the lid. PLEASE Sea to Summit, MAKE THIS RIGHT? ?

I've taken this pot on a 3-week backpacking trip and a 3-month cycling trip. It's very durable; in all my use, it has never deteriorated away from brand-new condition. The folding plastic I find extremely useful, as flat objects are usually much easier to store than larger cylinders. A perk of the folding is that you can fold it down while cooking to reduce the interior volume, which can help boil water faster. I recommend this pot for use in groups of 2-3 people. It is certainly somewhat larger and heavier than some cookpots on the market, and when I used it for just myself I never needed the full 8-cup capacity. But for a large-size cookpot, the form factor is extremely useful, and I highly recommend.
