Description

The Sea to Summit Trek 18-Degree Down Sleeping Bag is a versatile down bag for all types of outdoor activities, including camping, backpacking, and trekking. The mummy style features a shaped hood and zipper draft tube to keep the cold out and the warmth in. Lofty 650 fill power down insulation (Responsible Down Standard certified) is treated with proprietary ULTRA-DRY Down to improve reaction to moisture, retaining loft and performance in rugged conditions. The relaxed mummy shape offers more room between the hips and knees for a natural sleeping position, while vertical baffles over the chest prevent the down fill from shifting during sleep. Snug and cozy in the cold, the Free-Flow Zip System cools things down when temperatures rise: a full-length left-side zip, half-length right-side zip, and foot zip can be opened for ventilation or to turn the Trek into a comforter. Bag can also be zipped to the Sea to Summit Women’s Altitude, Journey, or Venture sleeping bags. The shell is made from durable 30D nylon, and an internal pocket holds small essentials. The Sea to Summit Trek 18-Degree Down Sleeping Bag is available in three sizes: Regular (max user height of six feet), Regular Wide (max user height of six feet), and Long (max user height of six feet six inches). Includes Ultra-Sil compression sack. Sea to Summit products are guaranteed against defects in materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the product.

  • Great overall sleeping bag. Did not disappoint.
This bag is the best of all worlds. Price is reasonable. Compression is perfect for car camping but also reasonably small and light enough for backpacking. Temp rating is good enough for me. I do have an additional warming liner for the truly cold nights. Durability is as good as it gets. Did purchase the wide version for the extra space because I'm a side sleeper. I am 6 foot 240 lbs and not a big fan of mummy bags but this bag never had me feeling trapped while inside. It is also a full zip so looking forward to this being a year round bag. Overall totally satisfied with the purchase. ... show more

  • Not bad, but not worth the price.
Style: Long
I have tons of bags because I'm always looking for the next best thing. Over the years, I've become more and more uncomfortable in the traditional mummy style bags so I tend towards wider cuts particularly at the feet. I've got Western Mountaineering bags and Big Agnes and a bunch of other brands that I compared this one too. First thing that caught my eye was the 650 down fill. Not horrible, but not that great either and we're looking at duck down here. Smaller plumes so that may be partially responsible for the lower fill rating. Still, if there is enough even terrible down fill ratings will keep you warm. This bag was pretty sparsely filled and I could see down clumps in it rather than an even layer. Even after trying to fluff it and leaving it un-packaged for several hours. The other issue was the width. It IS a bit wider than traditional mummy bags and I like the idea of the flat bottom to open up like a quilt. It really didn't feel much wider at all over something like the Nemo spoon shaped bags and certainly not the Big Agnes bags I have. Those are WIDE. so I wasn't really gaining anything here either. The zipper..... Somehow STS has managed to install a zipper, granted with a really nice anti snag strip inside, that will NOT smoothly go up or down. It WILL get stuck every singe time you try to zip up or down and it will grab the outside of the bag readily. I know this isn't a kick out design but my Western bag has never snagged once and easily goes up and down. What's the difference? Price of course. The thermal flap that goes over the zipper on the inside to keep out drafts also is about 1/2 to and inch too short so the wind actually comes right in. I had a night that I was admittedly not prepared for with gusts up to 30ish and a really well vented tent so the wind was coming in through the tent and right into the bag. Needless to say this experience was disappointing for my first experience with a STS bag. I have ton's of their equipment from other lines like cook and food prep and eating and utensils and each are superior. This bag however was not. ... show more

  • The zippers do not work. Buy yours at REI so that you can receive service.
Style: Regular
I really want to love this bag. I love so many things about it. The size and weight are perfect for my needs. I like the shape. For late fall trips, this bag should be quite nice. I have used my bag on three camping trips and keep hoping the zippers will loosen up. The worst problem is when I can't unzip the bag in the middle of the night when I need to exit for a quick "bathroom" run. There were a few times when I was outright panicked. I wish I had bought it at REI because I could take it back and show them the problem. But I am now past the Amazon return period and I don't know what to do. If anyone has suggestions regarding how to "unlock" the zipper when it is stuck, I would love your help. Sometimes I can move the tab to the other side and unzip it that way, but having to do that just does not seem right. I would love to be able to unzip the very bottom of the bag, but so far I have had no luck. My feet get hot at night and I have figured out a way to be able to get my feet out of the bottom of the bag by unzipping the bag farther up; but, again, that does not seem to make sense when there is a zipper that should work. All my other Sea to Summit gear has been great, so I am quite disappointed. ... show more
