Every SE mic I’ve tried has been, at the very least, solid if not darn impressive. The V7 MK is no different. The tighter pattern really keeps background noise manageable, but the MK in particular feels like a hidden gem. This one has the capsule of the V7X, an instrument mic with an extended bass response, but the grille is that of the regular V7, which means it handles plosives a little better than the regular V7X. I would describe the mids as punchy and somehow this doesn’t have that typical dynamic grainy sound that others possess. It’s smooth and despite the increased bass, it still has extension in the top end, maintaining clarity. It reminds me a lot of a condenser sound, and yea, if you put them side by side with an actual LDC, you’d know, but only if you were attempting to notice. Otherwise, this is a fantastic offering and I will sing its praises to anything who will listen.

I have several stationary mics and wanted something I could roam the stage with. Did not disappoint. Glad I ventured away from Shure with this one. Really liked the Gibbons edition... just couldn't justify the price difference for cosmetics.

Let's get right into it. This microphone is often compared to the Shure SM58 as every other handheld microphone lol. Owning the two I can safely say that the sE v7 frequency response is a lot wider, especially on the high end, it requires less gain than the SM58, and is great for vocals, and voiceovers!! The rejection is also very good The Cons To me, it looks better than the SM58 but the SM58 feels more solid in the hand Handling noise is REAL!! it thumps like a base drum when hitting the XLR cable, but it's not the worse I ever experience. Very good product, Please use it on a mic stand and you are golden!!!

I like everything about this mic. There is no competition in this price range for a mic of this quality. The tone in very tight and smooth on the mids and highs, maybe a bit bigger on the bottom than most, but I have found that EQ is very easy to get the sound you want with almost no handling noise. All of the V7's are great. You don't necessarily have to by a signature model to get this amazing sound. If you haven't got one yet, GET ONE!

Using this currently as a mic for gaming, sounds like a condenser and I have yet to use it around in my studio, I did swivel the boom clamp around towards my drumset and the cymbals sounded incredibly detailed and realistic. It doesn't sound harsh, you can clearly hear the details and I spent a half hour just talking into it and loving the sound. Not a fan of my voice but I was having fun talking and singing into it. Nice bass response when you utilize it's proximity effect, and I consider getting another vintage colored one, and might buy a few of the V7x. Also I'm using a shockmount for a 57, and a deadcat for a AT-2035, and it helps with isolation and plosives.
