We’ve been searching for an ‘awning’ style shade for our Ring cameras that were exposed to the elements. I’m so happy that I found this product. It’s exactly what we needed. It shades the camera from direct sunlight, provides protection from rain/snow and most importantly, it’s matte black on the interior so that it doesn’t create light reflection from the camera’s lights/night vision. The install was extremely easy and took approximately 10 minutes. The product also has a thin weather strip where it attaches to the house to ensure that no water drips behind it. Overall this works really well. I had two knocks on it. The first is that the underside is black, but not matte, I spray painted it before even trying with night vision. It might have worked, but I was mounting high enough outside that I didn’t want to mess with it twice. It’s also just a bit smaller than I would have liked. I had to mount the camera offcenter and angle it pretty good to make it fit all the way under. Just used a Standard bullet camera from EZVIZ, so definitely would not work for a large camera. ... show more

I bought this to cover my doorbell camera on the side of the house where the sun sets. Don't want the plastics of my camera to turn yellow prematurely. It covers it well and creates a little shade. Way bigger than my wife likes -but getting the job done.

I bought this to protect my Ring spotlight cam from the elements and has proven effective. So far, it has protected against both snow and rain and has kept the lens from collecting water droplets and from fogging up. Install was quite easy as they provided a template to mark your drill lines. Time from unpacking to installed was less than 10 minutes. I bought this for my Hikvision ColorVu camera to keep the sun and rain off of it. This is a lot of money to pay for just a piece of plastic! My main problem is that my camera has a 2.8mm lens, (wide angle), so I had to move the shield considerably above the camera to prevent it from obstructing the view at the edges which drastically reduces it's intended purpose of protecting the camera. Also, even after moving the shield up I was still getting glare from the camera's built-in light because the rim of the shield is white. I remedied this with some flat black spray paint made for plastic and outdoor use ($5). Also the included screws are not stainless steel so I had to buy new hardware which was another $1.50. This shield would probably work better on a 4mm, (probably 6mm), and up focal length lens but you will still likely need to paint the inside of the shield flat black if you plan on using the lights that are on the camera. One other issue is that the spiders have officially made this cubbyhole their new home, so cleaning spider webs from the lens is going to be an issue. ... show more
