I was looking for fine tools to carve intricate designs in a pumpkin for a company pumpkin carving contest, and this set did the job just perfectly! This was not designed for pumpkins, so some of the tools are more on the delicate side and will bend with pressure so I don't recommend using the very fine small tipped tools for carving. I'll be using this year after year! I've attached two photos of my pumpkin - and just to give you an idea on how good these tools are, I've never carved a pumpkin like this before! This was the first time I've ever carved one of these silhouette-type pumpkins and I think it came out great! I didn't win the contest but this set gave me enough confidence to keep entering more contests! ... show more

I use these to make pottery. I like the selection but there are repeats of tools which seems like a waste (for instance there are two identical pointed wooden stick tools). Some of the other shapes of the wooden tools are so similar in shape/size to also be counted as duplicates as well. As I use these with clay, my hands and these tools are covered with mud during use which makes the case pointless. I use the case to hold my crochet hooks now, lol. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but the tools seem great and sturdy. I love the fact that it came with a case because now I can place my other sculpting tools in the case with them. Although, the bag did arrive smelling somewhat like a farm (which I'm not a hug fan of) and I think it really did arrive from a farm because there were minimal green stains on the case. It took a lot of wiping the case with water, hand sanitizer, and spraying it with Febreeze to get rid of the smell, but it all worked out. Seems like a good, sturdy set for the price! ... show more

My biggest thing was wondering if it truly came with that black case, and it does! As far as sturdiness goes, I think it depends on how hard your grip is and then how much pressure you are applying to your clay. The sculpting aspect will bend but that is to be expected. First sculpting tool set I have purchased. I will update on use, but these tools are nice for the price. Lots of variety and small bits to really get into nooks and crannies if you're looking to sculpt intricate pieces. I would recommend. Very excited to get started with these. This tool set is perfect for a beginner. I joined a Ceramics workshop at a community center and bought it on Amazon after the first session. Everyone at the center said if they had seen this before they bought individual tools at an Arts store. Much more expensive to buy them individually.
