  • Nice grass!
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
So far so good. UPDATE: Planted around May 1 in New Mexico, Albuquerque West Mesa. Scraped all the crazy desert weeds out of the "soil" (really just eons of dust piled upon a volcanic plain) watered, raked, spread the seed, raked dusty dirt over the top and watered some more. It took about 2 weeks to start emerging. The first pic is from June 1. The second pic from June 19. I'm staying on top of the water until the monsoons hit in a couple of weeks. I'll post some more as the season progresses. Update: See July 7 photo. Going well! Update: See July 21 photo. Little to no rain here in NM so I have been watering by hand once in the AM once in the evening. Also have added Scotts Southern Lawn Food with Iron ... show more

  • I've accomplished the impossible!
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
I thought that it was nearly impossible to kill Bermudagrass. As it turns out, all I had to do was try to grow it -- and that is what killed it. Last year I planted this seed and maybe 50-60% of it took. I figured that would not be a problem since Bermuda spreads like a wildfire. This year, the bermudagrass did NOT return. It stayed totally dormant, even with consistent temperatures in the 80+ range, and 70s overnight. Please, do not waste your time or money on this product. ... show more

  • Seeded 3/4 acre and pleased
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
In Charlotte NC. Had heavy rain days after seeding and washed out parts so lawn came in patchy. 2nd home so cant mow as often as i would like. Try to keep it really short to help it spread and has done so nicely. Spent the first few months daily going out to hand pick other grasses out of lawn (expect source was the topsoil which seemed to have mulch in it so unsure what else). Seeded in May, now in Oct only a couple of bare spots and generally even and spreading... Plan to overseed this week and goal is no bare spots and golf course look by next summer... If left for 3-4 weeks uncut it will grow easily to 3+inches which would account for some of the brown hue in the pictures. Pic 1-4 is after seeding 1 month, Pic 5-8 is mid summer, Pic 9 is Sept, Last 4 are Oct ... Requires TLC but worth it... ... show more

  • Horrible. A complete failure. A complete waste of time and money...
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
We bought 4 bags of grass seed for our home in North Florida, two bags of this Scotts seed for the front yard, and two more expensive bags of Centipede grass from a smaller company for the back yard. We installed the seed correctly, raking the leaves and then mixing the seed with sand and some quality bagged topsoil we bought at Home Depot, then distributing it by hand to the affected areas. We bought a hose timer and watered both areas religiously. The centipede grass we bought is doing fantastic. It sprouted on day 7 and is going strong. I can provide the link to this product as we got 100% sprouting of that seed. By contrast, the Scotts seed, in spite of what it says on the bag, after 3 weeks of watering, has not sprouted. It is a 100% utter failure. A complete waste of money. I did not keep the bags, as I expected the Scotts seed to NOT be a problem, as I have used it before. I am posting here now, for buyers to BEWARE of this product. If you do buy it, KEEP THE BAGS and the lot number. Either Scotts is selling DEFECTIVE SEED, or this seller is selling EXPIRED SCOTTS seed. I am not out $50+dollars, plus the time to research Scotts seed, plus the topsoil we bought, plus the time to go to Home Depot to get it, plus the time to mix it, distribute the seed, then carefully MOTHER the watering so it would sprout, plus all the water and effort to water it 2-3 times per day WITH ZERO GRASS SPROUTING NOW. So, I am talking about dozens of hours of time for my wife and I. #NEVERBUYSCOTTSAGAIN ... show more

  • Grew as Guarenteed..
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
This worked magic for my backyard. It was dead after the winter, very sparse. I live in central Florida and know diddly squat on how to keep grass alive...i watched a couple of you tube videos...purchased this, based on reviews...I laid down lawn dirt first, spread seeds, then raked a think layer of lawn dirt over it. Watered it for 10 - 15 minutes every other day. Picture is 4 weeks apart. Now if.. I could only figure out weed control. ... show more

  • Great results in Arizona
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
I live in Arizona and planted this about 6 weeks ago. I have some pictures of my lawn at about 2 weeks, 20 days and 4 weeks and from what you can see it takes a while but it will grow. I have people who's jaws drop out here when I tell them I was able to get a lush green Bermuda lawn from seed. The only thing I wish this product did better was provide better instructions for planting. It's not as easy as you may think but it's not so tough you need a degree in botany. Give it 30 days and make sure to use a turf builder like what Scott's offers prior to planting. One more tip: make sure to add fertilizer about 6 weeks after planting and set the mower a little lower after it has established to encourage more growth. A few patches aren't bad since eventually it will spread all over your lawn. ... show more

  • Good Results from Texas May 2020
Size: 5 lb. Style: Grass Seed
Not sure about the effectiveness because I actually overseeded twice: once in early May and then two weeks later in mid-May (used almost an entire bag, half each time). After the initial seeding, there didn't seem to be much after two weeks (watered morning and evening), so I seeded again. About ten days later I started to notice a difference, but don't know if that was the first or second seeding that started growing. Nevertheless, you can see the before and after pictures; the lawn is much thicker, and looks especially great right after a mowing. Couldn't recreate the lighting with the pictures, but the lawn is certainly fuller, thicker, and greener than before (looks like some of the pictures are out of order for some reason). Each time after seeding I also added Scotts Turfbuilder Starter fertilizer (the one for new lawns). Lastly, I'd like to note that I aerated, using a handheld aerator tool, before each overseeding. Liquid aerating solutions also supposedly work well. ... show more
