  • Great closet for the cost and purpose Great closet for the cost and purpose
Color: Reclaimed Pine
This wardrobe storage unit has been a perfect solution for organizing my clothes and keeping them off the floor, which was exactly what many people here probably need. The price is reasonable considering the functionality you get, people may wish it could be a bit less expensive - but this is pretty good comparatively. Keep in mind, that this is not a solid pine, $3,000 piece of furniture—it’s sturdy and practical, but made from manufactured materials. You shouldn’t expect the look or feel of genuine wood grain. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase and feel it’s a much better choice than cheaper, flimsier options. I suggest- thank me later - purchasing battery-powered, motion-sensor, stick-on lights. Trust me—these lights make a big difference. ... show more

  • Easy to put together but slightly hard to do it right Easy to put together but slightly hard to do it right
Color: Soft White
It went together easy enough and I didn't have to do too much extra work to align the doors. The top drawer came out crooked but tightening the screws holding the rails to the structure helped mostly straighten it out. Also, the handles were really hard to install the screws and one of them sheared off in the handle. I'm guessing the handles are low quality as the screws look fine. If you have the tools, you should retap the holes in the handles before installing. I'll likely replace them anyway so it's not a big deal for me. Once it was mounted to the walls, it felt really sturdy. I was a little concerned over some of the reviews about build quality but other reviews made it seem like many people just weren't following directions. Notes on assembly: I used an electric drill with the torque set low so that I didn't strip the holes as some of the wood is low quality. The structural pieces are good MDF so it should last for some time. I mounted the cabinet to the walls and caulked the edges. If your floor isn't 100% even, the cabinet will lean and cause the doors to be crooked. I used wood shims to even it out before screwing it to the walls and then caulked around the bottom to hide the shims. If you mount the cabinet like me in a corner, you'll have to cut out any baseboard behind as well as possibly trim off a corner of the bottom drawer. I skipped using the anti-tip strap and just put a screw through the rear top board on the inside into a stud. I put another screw through the side top board into another stud. If the drawers make a lot of noise and feel like they are hitting something, tighten the screws on the rails as they are likely sticking out a little. Make sure you use the right holes for the rails as it will make the drawers very crooked if you use the wrong ones. I didn't use the hanger rail since I plan on adding some other kind of shelves to that section. ... show more

  • Exactly as expected.
Color: Soft White
I was concerned after reading the reviews about how much trouble people had putting this unit together, but ours went together with only 1 slight hitch. The holes for the handle on one door were just slightly too far apart, but that was easily remedied by angling the screw a bit with the screwdriver so it would go into the hole on the handle. The assembly was simple but not easy. We carefully followed all the instructions and read each step through before attempting it. I read the instructions to my husband, and he did all the work :). He also read them over, primarily to reference the images for clarification (at least that's what he told me - I'm sure it wasn't because he didn't trust me to read them in an understandable manner). It did take us the 3 hours that other reviewers mention. It's true that hubby has put together lots and lots of this type of furniture, but we thought the instructions were pretty good compared to others we've done. When completed, the unit looks like the picture - the doors (after adjusting according to the instructions) line up, the drawers line up, and it looks great. As for sturdiness - the unit doesn't wobble, and we pushed it around the floor to get it in place without any problem. I know it's particle board and I bought it anyway because it will fit our need. For the price, this was a great purchase for us and I am confident it will perform as we need it to do. ... show more

  • Warning review from a professional assembler.
Color: Soft White
I really hate leaving a bad review for Sauder because they have gorgeous products in the furniture area. Sometimes, people just don't know what they are doing and screw crap up while they put it together, but i put my own furniture together and other peoples so when i say this was garbage its coming from an area of expertise. BUT, they have excellent design taste only they lack in durability. It took me four hours to put my cabinet together, then another two hours to properly organize it (gently- because it has a thin cardboard back that gets nailed to the left and right backside of the cabinet and I'm not an idiot i get these things are not the greatest). Once its together its incredible to look at and the first thing i let slide was the slight misproportion of the cabinet doors but they were slight and unless you're just staring it down you won't notice it in passing. i needed this to act as a linen closet because i recently remodeled and took out a closet to create a hall. And for the price i figured it must be better than the reviews I see. Well it is- until you try to move it. even gently sliding it and pushing at the bottom jacks this thing up. as soon as i placed it i opened a drawer to put n a single pillow case and it slid out and popped off its track and i was like "ok maybe i pulled this too hard i need to be more gentle" NOOOOO!!!!!!! no matter how gentle you are this thing falls apart every time you touch it in some way, shape, or form. I wouldnt be so upest if it wasnt for the fact that the money i used to buy this thing was a gift from my mother in law who recently passed away, and i feel like i squandered her kindness away on something ridiculous. so now, not only do i have this cabinet that wants to keep falling apart every five seconds, Im leaving a warning review to anyone else who may be wanting to purchase this thing. its gorgeous it has plenty of storage space but it will take a while to put together and then five seconds to break. its just not worth almost 400 they ask for it. my suggestion is to find a matching dimensional wall space to slide this thing into so that it protects this cabinet. It CANNOT be free standing with both the left and right sides exposed because it does not manage weight dispersment properly and the middle piece that connects both outside ends are not screwed into anything but MDF which wears too easy. Unless Sauder figures out a way to make the body of this cabinet hold together better this is a waste of money. I BUY ALOT from amazon and this is the FIRST thing I've bought that i am legit unhappy about. You've been professionally warned. ( please know- it was delivered in stellar condition, impeccably packaged, completely undamaged with all its components PLUS extra is you needed it. But it legit lacks the durability needed to be functional.) Add- I’ve reinforced every bit of this thing that I could adding another hundred dollars to this- and I still can’t get it to sit right I don’t want to have to fix it to the wall but it looks like that is going to be my only option. No worth it. And I don’t think I’ll get my money out of it before I just burn it! ... show more

  • Very large and great storage but flimsy materials Very large and great storage but flimsy materials
Color: Reclaimed Pine
The size of this cabinet is great. It will hold a lot of stuff. It looks ok. It’s very fake looking “wood”. It’s made from flimsy particle board. Be careful moving it around so as not to break it. Sauder’s customer service is excellent. There was a damaged piece straight out of the box that goes on the bottom front. We were able to get a replacement for it ordered in minutes at no charge to us. The doors aren’t aligned perfectly but we have the cabinet halfway on a rug and halfway on a hard floor. The flimsiness of the particle board will cause the cabinet to twist if not totally level & cause the doors and drawers to be crooked. We’re not thrilled with the purchase. It’s definitely overpriced for what it is. ... show more

  • Nice Wardrobe - put drawers together first, then the rest of the cabinet. Nice Wardrobe - put drawers together first, then the rest of the cabinet.
Color: Highland Oak
I know what the instructions say; but, put the drawers together first. You don't need to do it in between putting together the cabinet itself. Watch for the number of "how many" to use for nails and screws. I used too many nails in the drawers and didn't have enough for the cabinet (a quick run to home depot fixed that problem). It was suggested in another Sauder review to use wood glue when putting the kits together. I thought that was a good idea, so I did so. At 65, 5'3", 130lbs, I was wondering if I would have difficulty standing it up (at a minimum) but that was no problem at all. In fact, they have you putting it together face down (instead of flipping it back and forth). The back panel is covered on both sides (unlike some other kits) and comes in 2 pieces (left/right). Getting the drawer slides on both cabinet & drawers was easy (especially since they're numbered). Sauder will sell the pins for shelves but won't sell you additional shelves for this unit (they will for other units - I used 'chat' to make the order). The t-shirts are hung in sets of 2 (you know, the hangers with the tab for the 2nd hanger). The top shelves are fixed, so only the middle shelf above the drawers is adjustable. I was going to take a picture of the drawers opened; but decided you didn't need to see my undies. All-in-all, put the drawers together entirely first. Then do the rest. If you're going to use glue, have someone there to help you (and don't do it under the air conditioner vent). It gets dry rather quickly (although my glue said you had about 15 minutes to get the pieces together once you put the glue on). I think it's a nice piece of furniture and it is a good value. This is not my first piece of "put-it-together-yourself" Sauder furniture. I also have a review for 411963 Sauder HomePlus Storage Cabinet, Sienna Oak finish which includes a review for 411965 Sauder HomePlus Collection Storage Cabinet, Sienna Oak finish (I got this from Sauder direct due to sale pricing) I included pics for both. ... show more

  • Mostly good, overpriced though.
Color: Soft White
Mostly good, some not so fantastic points though. I got this for a “broom closet” solution and found a damaged box through Amazon warehouse so it was only $185. For that price, it’s worth it. Had I paid full price though (which was almost $300 when I bought mine), I think I’d be disappointed. It functions really well, has ample storage and solves the lack of closet problem we had (we did have to leave out the shelf in order to fit the broom and vacuum)... the doors are thin and rather flimsy, though. The top isn’t finished at all, which isn’t a huge deal except it seems for that price point, it should be. We can see the top because it’s next to the knee wall on our stairs to the second floor, so it’s just something to note if you’d also see the top. (We plan to put a top on it like a wood counter or something). All in all it’s decent but it should cost less than $200, imo. Check the warehouse before you pay full price ;) ... show more

  • You Get What You Pay For! You Get What You Pay For!
Color: Soft White
We needed this cabinet for our upstairs hallway. We had high hopes that the quality of the cabinet would be as good as the quality of the vanity we purchased and put together a few weeks ago, but it wasn't even close! 1) For starters, one of the doors was damaged in transit. 2) Then we noticed that the shelves on the right side of the unit are not notched for the trim. The shelves cannot sit flush against the inside of the cabvinet. 3) The quality of the materials is poor. 4) The directions were even worse. There is not much written - they are mostly pictures, which would have been fine, except that some of them were very hard to make sense of. They are numbered steps, and they do not have you attach the outside of the cabinet to the shelves, which are attached to the center divider. They actually have you turn the unit over with partially attached shelves - and that is how the shelves get totally messed up! That should NEVER have happened!! 5) One of the "hardware" pieces that holds the rod was broken in two (we used it anyway since we aren't going to put a lot of weight on the rod). 6) The bottom pieces for the 2 drawers is very flimsy. We certainly won't be able to put much weight in either drawer! When you take into consideration the quality, the horrible directions, and the damaged pieces, this is NOT a cabinet you should purchase. For now, we will keep it, but we'll probably end up having a carpenter build a unit into that space and get rid of this mess. Buyer BEWARE!! ... show more
