  • super premium dock
This has been a very good product thus far. Was hesitant at first because price is high, but the product is very premium. I have a dell dock at work, and this one is smaller, not as heavy and doesn't get as hot. Also has more ports. I really like the two HDMI ports because I did not want to have to also upgrade cables to USB-C. The device itself feels sturdy, like a macbook finish. It feels light for all it contains but not I am so glad I connect one cable to my laptop and everything else is set with this dock. ... show more

  • Display Link is not it
Try watching Netflix or apple TV on one of your displays. It won't work. HDCP is not allowing or communicating with M3 MacBook air... My Mac thinks I am trying to pirate the video feed and it won't display. I wish I didn't buy a display link dock/hub. Pretty disappointed.

  • Sleek and powerful Thunderbolt 4 docking station
To get the most out of this docking station from Satechi you need to have Thunderbolt 4 capability. If you don't, you can still use it--Thunderbolt 4 is backwards compatible with all previous Thunderbolt versions and, for that matter, USB-C. You just won't get the fast data transfer speeds out of it. It's also an excellent docking station for using extended display via 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports and two HDMI ports. It can only link three external displays on Mac M1/M2/M3 processors. This is a limitation of the processors and *not* a liability with this device. This is a very powerful docking station but I'd recommend it only to someone who can take advantage of the Thunderbolt 4 connectivity features. It would also be a good choice for someone that needs a number of additional displays delivering high quality video. Assuming you fit into one of these two groups I'd highly recommended it! ... show more

  • Doesnt work with M2 macbook air
I purchased this as it was the only thing that said it would support multi monitors on an m2 MacBook air. i set up the displaylink software which went fine, but no matter what I tried the dock couldn't be detected by my mac. i never got any of the ports to work. Support just had some ways to unplug and replug in the device, none of which worked. The only thing that worked was the charging feature. Besides that, this thing was a $300 brick. ... show more

  • Dock It All: Perfect for Photographers and Power Users
Seamless Integration: As a photographer, I rely heavily on my setup, and the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 DisplayLink Docking Station has been a game-changer. I’m using it with my 2023 MBP M2 and a 4K monitor, and so far, it works great. The dock powers my MacBook without any issues, and the monitor shows up in my display selection immediately. High-Quality Performance: The dock supports ultra-clear resolutions and stunning visuals. I can connect up to 4 external extended displays at 4K/60Hz (limited to 3 external displays for Mac M1/M2/M3 processors), making my workflow more efficient and visually immersive. Blazing Data Transfer: One of my favorite features is the UHS-II SD card reader, which handles my Sony A7R4’s high-speed UHS-II cards with ease. The data transfer speeds up to 40Gbps via the Thunderbolt 4 ports and 10Gbps via the USB-A ports mean my file transfers are fast and error-free. This is crucial when I'm offloading large batches of high-resolution images. Expand Your Peripherals: The USB-C 96W PD charging port keeps my MacBook charged while I work. The UHS-II SD card reader supports speeds up to 312MB/s, perfect for quickly transferring my high-resolution photos. The ethernet port provides a stable connection up to 1000Mbps, which is great for uploading large files. What's Included: The package includes a 1-meter Thunderbolt 4 cable, a 180W AC adapter, a C5 power cord, and a user manual. Satechi's prompt customer service and a 1-year warranty add extra peace of mind. Final Thoughts: Overall, the Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is a fantastic addition to my setup. It handles power, display, and data transfer efficiently, making it a must-have for photographers and power users. If you need a reliable and high-performance docking station, this one is a solid choice. ... show more

  • What's Up Doc?
Attaching peripherals is drop dead easy. Attaching monitors is easy. But the refresh speed could be better. For a simple setup, this works great. The unit itself feels very sturdy and solid.

  • Not Plug and Play for an M3 Mac
Couldn't figure out why the 2 HDMI ports didn't work despite the instruction manual just saying "Plug and Play". I contacted support they emailed me a day later "what's the model number?" (It was a required field in their form). Sent them the model number but haven't heard back. I finally read a review that said I need to download DisplayLink. The HDMI outputs work but still don't run without this 3d party app running in the background. ... show more

  • Thunderbolt 4 + DisplayLink to provide up to 4 video outputs but over-heat easily, immediately
good concept to put a Thunderbolt 4 dock and a DisplayLink video over USB core into a single device. However, right after you connected to laptop, the unit chassis was starting over-heat quickly. The temp was so high that you don't want to put any other devices on top of it or put it on top on other devices. Just tested it for one day right after I got the product. Still need to take more tests for long term reliability and performance data. 6/5/2024 updated, blank monitor (no video) after switching back from other laptop connections. ... show more
