This traditional japanese futon can also double as mattress topper and is extremely comfortable. Its not to firm nor to soft the padding is just above average although you aren't sleeping directly on the ground. And no matter the temperature in enviorment you'll be well rested on this futon. The futon is a full and can be folded up easily. Because of its size it can easily fit into the closet without taking up much room. All in all its worth the value for your money.

I'm incredibly glad I purchased this Japanese mattress. Years of sleeping on an overly soft memory foam mattress caused persistent pain in my lower back, upper back, and neck. After using this Japanese mattress for two weeks, the discomfort in my back and neck has significantly eased. My pelvic tilt issue is gradually being corrected. The human body shouldn't be overly supported on soft mattresses. Additionally, I noticed a thoughtful design feature: the mattress back is covered in small rubber nubs—I assume this prevents it from sliding when placed on the floor, though I haven't tested that yet.

Not at all what I expected. Basically this is a very expensive comforter. It is supposed to be 4 inches thick, you’re lucky if it is 2. Instead of 54x75, it is more like 53x73. I am only 5’8 and it doesn’t seem long enough. It might be on top of a mattress, but not on its own. I did leave it for a couple days, and it didn’t help with the thickness.

This mattress topper arrived in a vacuumed package so it took awhile for the mattress topper to regain its shape. Instructions were provided for full expansion of the product. It required some fluffing and shaking out but turned out decent. It doesn’t appear to be as fluffy and full as shown in the product photos. I’m not sure it reached its “4 inch” fluff as stated. However, The fabric is very soft, warm and seems durable. The underside has little rubbery dots to help it grip the floor if using on a hard surface so it doesn’t slide around. It also has elastic wraps on each corner to attach to a mattress to hold in place which is quite useful. It is comfortable to lay on and could be used in a variety of ways; as a mattress topper, futon cover, floor, camping, play mat, etc. The topper is easily foldable and can be stored away when not in use. I used one of the elastic wraps on one corner to wrap around it and hold it together after folding it up. All in all, a useful product!

After using this product, the pain in my back and hips has significantly eased, and I toss and turn much less. It's advertised as being able to be placed directly on the floor, but I didn't do that. Instead, I placed it on a bed frame. It doesn't look particularly thick, but I can't feel the uneven surface of the frame at all. The manufacturer recommends exposing the mattress to sunlight for a few days, which I did. However, I think placing it in a well-ventilated indoor area is perfectly fine.

After patting it out and letting it rest for a few hours, I flipped it over and let the other side rest for another five hours. Upon opening and use, it had no odor and provided excellent support.
