  • Great camera and excellent customer service
Camera works great for our needs. Light, easy to carry and use. Picture is good and it records onto the provided card. After 10 months we had an issue with the camera head. Contacted Sanyipace directly, they responded immediately and sent a replacement under warranty within a few days. The replacement was simple and we are up and running again. It is hard to find great customer service anymore, but Sanyipace is great. ... show more

  • "Works" but... (updated full review)
I'm updating a previous review with this detailed one... Lets be realistic. This camera/locator set barely costs _half of what a professional locator costs, and a pro snake camera _without the locator starts around $5K and can easily hit $10K for a full set with better features. So, know what you're getting and you may be happy. I picked the 100' model, considering I will rarely need it beyond residential work. With only a 5mm push cable, I was worried that compared to the 7mm models (even thicker on pro units) it would be hard to push into larger drains like 4", where this 'softer' cable would tend to bend/spiral/kink around, even for shorter distances. That worry was proven true first test in my own house, despite some reviews (outside of Amazon) specifically addressing that issue and saying it was no problem. You should consider that it would work better on 2"-3" pipes, but there, the camera might not negotiate more than a few bends... Rather than spend much more, I addressed this issue (next day at my first customer) by taping one end of a cheap 1/4" 'spring coil snake' to the push cable right behind the camera. (I also brought a $9 set of Harbor Freight 'fish sticks' that I use for electrical work, as an alternative.) This extra 'flexible stiffness' allowed me to easily push the camera through a cleanout into the 4" drain. I can't say this will work for 100', especially if there is, errr, 'muck' at the bottom, but even the first 12' was clearly easier than my initial testing at home, without the 'modification'. The camera quality itself is definitely acceptable; I have never used a pro unit, but I can't see how the image quality could be better... to put it bluntly, seeing your poop or clearly roots in 8k high-res (on a 9" screen either way) is not going to improve your experience vs whatever resolution this unit gives you. The accessories IMHO are not helpful: The large 'roller shield' does _not fit into a 4" pipe, and if you work on that size or larger you'd be buying a pro unit anyway. The smaller 'protector shield' adds weight and gets hung up on small ridges or debris. Both need a tiny screwdriver of odd size (provided) to tighten the tiny nylon screws to the camera head and after two uses they are already stripping. (I immediately 3D printed a medium shield I designed with guide fins, using brass inserts and real machine screws.) Do not think you'll casually push the camera in then turn a crank and neatly reel it back! This unit in particular is a manual, unmounted reel (I knew this going in) and the whole process is cumbersome at best. (BTW, and I assume this is true of the species: As you retrieve the cable/camera, there will be "stuff" on it - you do _not want to reel it back into the unit without planning for that!) The locator. Hmmm. First (I knew this going in), it does _not tell you the depth - you want that, pony up $1700. It works. After a day of a worker breaking concrete, digging two feet deep, almost three feet square, where my customer insisted the sewer line passed through, I bought this rather than pay a local guy $250 again and wait for him to be available. I found the line about 11' from the cleanout I used, and almost 6' (!) from where the customer said; It gently turned and went happily off in another direction. It was about 18" down, I pegged it within 6", and the whole process took 20 minutes including cleaning and packing away. In the process we found the wye from a toilet and verified our line was the sewer and not a storm line. And a break in the clay. And minor roots. The locator. The sound does not mean much, but sounds like it should; watch the meter! The tiny black button to switch between far and near modes should be bigger, and the difference when it is pressed in or popped out is barely noticeable; maybe 1mm, I kid you not. I had to peer at it to see what mode I was in; there's no other indicator of any kind. (They should either have chosen a two-way toggle, or at _least add a stinking led dot to show that you're in 'this' mode!) The screen, which is mounted in the lid of the (very cheap) suitcase and _not removeable, is adequate; picture was perfectly clear for the unit's purpose - again, home-theater quality would be extreme and wasted here anyway. However, the lid barely opens ninety degrees, so unless you prop the whole case at eye-level while you work, you cannot actually see the screen! (Stupid, Sanyipace.) Made worse by the sunshade which is neither removable or has the ability to fold completely out of the way! (I tilted the whole back and propped up the front edge.) Let's summarize: I spent roughly $1000. I saved my customer $125 (I charged him $125 vs $250). I was able to locate it on my schedule, not another plumber's. It did what it was purchased for, and I anticipate that I can now do this again - If I use it 8 times more it will be paid for and help people save money. Had my customer not 'guaranteed' we were digging in the right place, he'd have saved hundreds of dollars in labor and now more, to fill, and extra cement etc... Would I buy this if I specifically intended to make it a profitable service? No. I don't feel it is reliable enough to confidently tell customers I can go from a house cleanout, through muck, out to the street drain, and with no distance meter (I estimated paying out the line) or depth reading, the location takes longer and (assumedly) is less accurate overall. But, the few times I paid a local guy I know $250 to do the location when I need to bust concrete and add a basement/garage bath, or use the camera to check for breaks/blocks, have already cost (my customers) $750 in the past few years alone; this unit seems perfectly adequate for short-run residential 2"-4" for my intended use, so why pay $5K-$10K when I don't need the 'pro'..? ... show more

Out of the box, the unit is what I was expecting. Camera is self leveling and picture is clear. Easy set up and instructions were informative. Great price point.

  • Update!!!
The media could not be loaded. Shipping was fast and the product appears to be very well built. If this product and customer service turn out to be exceptional I will definitely be stocking my entire plumbing fleet with these cameras. Update! After only using it about seven times for sewer inspections this thing has finally gone out. It began with it glitching on start up then screen went blue stating no signal was detected. I bought this unit back in June of this year and it has gone faulty already. I don't recommend. ... show more

  • Didn't expect it to be so good for the price.
I'm a Home Inspector and had been recommended a few name brand sewer cameras, however I had ran across the Sanyipace brand. Did my research and for the price I figured I would give it a shot. I was pretty impressed. The video and pictures are really good quality. My colleague has one of the name brand ones and I compared the videos. The videos are compatible, if not better. I recommend you downloading the instructions from their website or else the one that comes with it do it no justice. Thinking about buying the longer version for longer scopes. Only downside is the videos are only 10mins but on continuous record. ... show more

  • Great product and Customer Service
I bought this camera about a year ago, it’s worked better then expected. The quality of the camera is great and the ease of use makes it that much better. One of the pins broke on my camera head which I was a little bummed out since that’s what activated the LED lights but after a few messages with customer service they said they would ship a free one right over. Great customer service! ... show more
