Description

The Santamedical Aneroid Sphygmomanometer is ideal for medical use in all settings. Gauge: A 300 mmHg manometer features an easily identifiable high-contrast dial. The die-cast manometer housing is outfitted with a heavy-duty clip so it can be easily attached to the gauge holder on the cuff. Cuff Inflation Bag: Resistant to abrasion, chemicals, chlorine and peroxide, and moisture, the adult Velcro cuff is constructed of high-molecular polymer nylon. Sized to meet American Heart Association recommendations, the artery indicator label and index range help support proper cuffing and arterial compression. The double tube seamless inflation bag is constructed of crack-resistant, non-sticking, high-density latex-free PVC. Inflation Bulb Valve: Chrome-plated valve delivers deflation control. The inflation bulb is constructed of crack-resistant, non-sticking material. Before beginning the measurement, relax your body with two feet on the ground for 5 to 10 minutes to stabilize the heart rate and blood pressure. Ensure the cuff is directly touching the skin. Wrap the cuff around the upper left arm and check the tightness of the cuff by putting two fingertips underneath. Start inflating the cuff by squeezing the inflation bulb rapidly until no pulse sound comes through the stethoscope. Stop squeezing when the gauge reads 30 to 40 mmHg above your normal blood pressure. Stop pumping in air and start deflating the cuff by twisting the screw counterclockwise to open the airflow. At this point, the pressure gauge readings should fall 2 mm or two lines per second. Note the readings on the pressure gauge when you first hear your heartbeat. This is the upper, or systolic, pressure number. Then note the readings on the pressure gauge when the sound of your heart throbbing disappears. This is your diastolic reading.     • FAULTY DEFECT!!! CAUSED INACCURATE READINGS

I am a PA and I take my own BP instead of letting the MAs do it. Purchased this based off from the reviews and ratings. I had just bought this and barely used it until recently. I had several patients with extremely low BP readings and it didn't make sense that they're on stimulants and hypotensive. I brought it to my supervising doctor's attention who diagnosed my BP cuff as having a defect with the bladder. He took my BP cuff out and showed me the bladder and switched it with his which then made the BP worked. Cannot believe I could've misdiagnosed patients!!! Luckily I take my own BP. If it was an MA or extern student, they would've recorded their readings which were inaccurate. Highly disappointed in this product!!!! UPDATED REVIEW AS OF 6/27/2019: This was purchased on June 3rd 2019, and I have been using this daily since. The material is standard, but holds up for the most part. However, I am not sure if the bladder will continue to work properly but time will tell. The bladder popped out through the seams already and looks flimsy to withstand a quick BP check. I do like the actual reading. I have purchased in this past, and had a defective piece back in 2016 and left a review but was never contacted. At the time, the cuff kept giving false low readings. This has improved with this purchase. However, the main design of this current model I absolutely do not like or care for is the metal loop in which patients would have to loop their arm through. Even if you pull it apart, it takes a few snagging to get the cuff to go through and wrap around the arm. I am a physician assistant and I work two jobs, and see over 30-50 patients a day. We move very quickly in our office due to patients' satisfaction on wait time and we will only do manual blood pressure readings for accuracy. This model slows me down tremendously compared to a regular cuff that uses velcro I pull off quickly or wrap on quickly. Even if you are able to pull the cuff through the metal loop, if you are not careful enough, the cuff gets trapped and snags downward. Several times I had to pull my old ADC cuff out to use instead of this brand new Santa Medical cuff. I would suggest redesigning this feature better suited for a fast pace setting. I decided to re-post an updated review due to incentive for a free stethoscope. They have a note that says they randomly select customers to leave feedback. And this time, the customer service was prompt and did respond within 3 days as they indicated. I also have not had the bladder broke on me yet. And so, for these reasons, I raised the star from 2/5 up to a 4/5. ... show more

Do not recommend this product. I purchased this for my nursing clinicals that begin in the fall. I used the product twice before it stopped working correctly. When I would try squeeze and take the blood pressure reading it would blow up too fast in the wrong places, and would cause it to pop off the persons arm I was using it on. I tried it multiple times in multiple different ways and it kept over-inflating and popping off every time I used it. I will be returning and do not recommend. ... show more

I understand that these reviews are supposed to be about the product. Since the supplier under Amazon's banner may change from time to time, it may defeat the purpose of the review to base it on the seller's performance. Nevertheless, my satisfaction comes from this: 1) I bought this particular cuff entirely for the D-ring. Only a few cuffs on Amazon specified that particular device which makes it easy to wrap the cuff around your own arm. You can wrap a cuff with no D-ring on yourself with the help of your ear and teeth, (I've done it) but I would rather give a bath to a Rottweiler in my kitchen sink by myself than ever again try to use a plain cuff on myself. 2) When the cuff arrived, guess what? No D-ring. I contacted the seller and they sent me one immediately with the D-ring at no charge.So they get several stars. I got what I wanted, it seems to work fine, and the seller was very accommodating. The price was also very cheap. I don't know how long it will last. Like most products sold here, if you wait to see if it will last for 2 years, the product will be obsolete and a good review would be useless. But since I am only using it on myself in my own home and not in the field, it should hold up well.
