A very basic caliper. These calipers are obviously an inexpensive version of more refined and accurate calipers. After several days of moderate use I’ve noticed a few things: 1. They are very light weight, but that ends up working against them. Without a bit more resistance in heavier parts it is more difficult to get extremely accurate adjustments. 2. Accuracy and calibration. My pair are off slightly in the tenths of mm. Generally not a huge deal but don’t expect these to be as accurate as a more expensive and quality pair. Good for quick measurements, not so good for very detailed measurements. Edit: review lowered to 1 star after the seller tried to offer to refund my money in exchange for deleting the review. ... show more

Going to be using this to turn papercraft models into 3D-Pen models. It's perfectly accurate. In the pictures I'm measuring a papercraft skull that I plan to make a 3D model of in the near future. I like that you can zero it out and add/subtract measurements right on it. I'm not saying I'm against using a ruler, now, but I think I'll be using this a lot more. The carbon fiber construction makes this a very light tool. Unfortunately it only goes to two places after the decimal point making it a poor choice for reloading/hand-loading which usually requires measurements up to three decimal places, but a good choice for other not as precise hobbyist uses.     • Erroneous measurements

The caliper is measuring wrong. I use standard size objects like brand new iPhone and other things that dimensions are known exactly. First it is off by 1 mm, then the error grows to 2 and 3 mm. I reset it to zero it, but keeps happening. disappointing.

When the description for this item said carbon fiber composite, it conjured up images in my mind of very rigid aerospace and automotive components, that are also light. So I decided to take a chance. I was wrong for trusting the description. By my judgement, this item is made of cheap black plastic. Nothing rigid about it. When trying to use it, as delicate as I was, I still felt like I was going to break it. The precision attests to the lack of rigidity, being two orders of magnitude worse than $22 competitors that are made of stainless.
