  • If you use Linux, look elsewhere, unless you have access to a windows or apple computer.
Color: Black Capacity: 32GB Pattern Name: MP3 Player
OK lets start with my biggest gripe. It will not work on Linux! As you can see in the screenshot, it appears in my disk utility, but not in my "devices" list. It should show up like an external drive, according to instructions, but nope. If you use Linux, look elsewhere for a player. That is, unless like me, you have access to the windows virus on a spare PC or laptop. That's what I did. I waded through the chest-deep crap and trash and the endless "update now!" and the Windows can not spy on you. log in to this spyware.." popup crap. I had to take music from my Linux machine, tranasfer it to a USB drive, then plug the drive into my windows-virused laptop and put the music on there. Only then, could I get music onto this player. What a pain in the rear! So hey WD/Sandisk, Just make the darn thing work with Linux, guys! It's a real thing, and it's not going away. Especially since even your servers, Amazons servers, even Microsofts and Apples servers all run... LINUX! Android is a version of Linux. So yeah, Sandisk, Linux is something you people should keep in mind with your devices. Your SD cards and USB drives work flawlessly in my Linux machine, Why did this player give me hell? A lesser gripe is that the screen on this player came pre-scratched. I took it from the original, still-sealed packaging, and it was scuffed up right on the screen. There was no screen protector film to peel off. A .001 cent piece of cling film plastic would have prevented this. However, that hardly obscures the screen when it is lit up, and does not affect any performance. It's just annoying that this happened. The last gripe, I promise. That is, there is some pre-loaded bloat. I don't need any audiobooks or lap timers and crap like that. I just want to play music. Period. But, that is the least of my gripes since Sandisk has kindly offered a setting to turn that junk off. Now for the good stuff: It works. Despite being forced to use the Macrohard Windurrs virus, to do it, I dragged a lump of random music into this thing. I just wanted to be done with that windows machine, fast, so I didn't bother to sort them. After ejecting the player and it initializing, it works fine. Sound is good via my KZ ZSN Pro IEM's (This is going to be a gift. I did not use the included buds) I was shocked to discover that the lump of music I dropped into this thing was all free lossless audio codec. Yes, FLAC! It plays flac files. NICE! The jumbled mess of content is all categorized into artis, album etc folder by the device. By "lump of music" and "jumbled mess" I mean about 8 compilation albums with various artists and such. It will sort them by artist or album if you wish, or it can just play the bulk. You can make playlists, but I'll leave that to the person who I am gifting this to. I'm only doing any of this since he has no access to a computer or anything other than cellphone internet. Otherwise, he's be setting it up himself. But I don't mind, so here I am. Which allows me to write a proper review. So to conclude: If you have windurrs or mack junk, you can use this no problem. But if you have Linux exclusively, You're gonna have a problem. (Get a Surfans F-20 D.A.P.. It doesn't care.) It works fine. You can turn off the bloatware. It plays fine, it sounds fine. (with flacs, have not tried it with lossy, MP3 files) I may update with further info about durability and longevity after I give this to my friend and he lets me know about that stuff. ... show more

  • The Low Volume on Bluetooth can be Raised, but not buy the Player itself,,,,,,,
Color: Blue Capacity: 32GB Pattern Name: MP3 Player
I like the nice earbuds that came with it and the good radio reception,,,,, What I don't like is that it came new in the box just slightly scuffed on the surface. I am hoping that it has a removable protective film like what comes on watch crystals and other stuff but it is hard to tell and I don't want to pick at it. If anybody has discovered that there is removable protective plastic when new I would like to be informed. Other people have complained that the volume on Bluetooth is very low. At first on Bluetooth at full volume I could barely hear it. The increase volume in settings didn't help much. The first Bluetooth buds I tried were Santana Mambos which don't control volume, could barely hear it. I then tried my TOZO Bluetooth earbuds which can raise and lower volume, still could barely hear it. I then tried the raise volume button on the TOZO's and it totally increased the whole range of the volume buttons on the clip. At half volume now the Bluetooth is very load and blast at full volume, even using the Santana Mambo's. I believe it even increased the volume range for wired earbuds also. I couldn't have done it without the TOZO Bluetooth earbuds, there is nothing on the clip that would have increased the range of the volume, and nothing about it in the instructions. ... show more

  • Decent product
Color: Black Capacity: 32GB Pattern Name: MP3 Player
SanDisk 32GB Clip Sport Plus is a good buy, but there are a few issues. I wasn't happy about not being able to expand the memory, there is no SD card slot so the 32gb is all it will ever have. I DID know this before I bought it, but I still feel like it would be a better product if they put the card slot instead, so I wanted to mention it. 32 gb certainly holds enough music, but everything gets bigger and not being able to expand it will be a limitation at some point. The interface is clean and easy to use, everything worked the way is is supposed to. The clip works well to hold it in place, though I normally have it in a pocket. It is small enough to not be a nuisance, but the screen and font is large enough to see easily. Direct sunlight IS a problem, it can be hard to see. For me, I use it inside, but be warned if you expect to take it to the beach everyday. For me, the buttons are a bit of a problem as I often lay or lean against things as I work (where I use it all day) so sometimes I accidentally push the buttons. I have turned it off by accident before so I wish there was some way to cover the buttons or disable them. The manufacturer claims 18 hours battery life and there is no way. Not even close. If I use the radio function it won't even last 8 hours. Granted, the radio only works if you plug in wired earbuds which I wrap around my neck and then use my bluetooth earbuds to actually listen. So the device is sorta powering 2 sets of earbuds, but I can turn the volume all the way down so the wired earbuds aren't playing anything and still listen through the bluetooth buds. If I just run the bluetooth listening to stored music, the device will last about 10 hours. Yes, I broke in the battery as per manufacturer instructions. I have a problem with the shuffle feature. I have about 10,000 songs on the MP3 player and I REGULARLY hear the same song twice a day. I always just hit shuffle all songs but certain songs seem to come up over and over. I listen at work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, so of course I expect some repeats and I know the brain is wired to catch patterns like that. I just feel like it's not random enough OR there should be a no repeat random option. The cover for the headphone jack fell off the fourth time I used it. I got it back on once, then it fell off again in my pocket and was lost forever. A bit more robust cover is needed, perhaps. Minor annoyance is the device wants to take 5 minutes every time you turn it on a refresh the media (whatever that means). I understand I have a lot of files on it, so maybe it wouldn't take so much time with fewer, but still annoying as I have to plan for that 5 minutes at work. I sound like I am bagging on the device, but I do like it and would buy another one. I just wanted to point out the negatives in case one is a deal breaker for anyone. I have had mine for about 2 months, used it every day reliably. It pairs flawlessly and actually has a very decent range for bluetooth. Only other minor annoyance is that when you turn the device on, bluetooth is disabled. So you have to wait 5 minutes for the media to refresh (you can't do anything with it until that process is over) then you can go to bluetooth and turn it on to pair with your earbuds. A bit annoying as I turn it off at breaks to conserve battery so I have this process I have to go through a few times a day. It auto shuts off after a time if it is not paired or wired, so not many options to avoid this for me as I charge my earbuds during breaks. Good product, buy one! ... show more
