This safe offers reason security from those who are unwilling to go to the extremes. The actual locking mechanism is behind the knob (plastic constructed). If you chisel-out the plastic knob you will be able to access the locking mechanism to unlock the safe. However, this is a bit extreme, but possible. Too, I discount the plus of the LED feature, for its lumens (watts) its sufficient enough to provide visual enhancement or enrichment. Nonetheless, mounted down it offers reasonable security and theft deterrent.

This is actually a great little safe, provided the small size suits your needs. A bit of paint did immediately fall off as soon as I removed the outer bag, but as the primary functions still worked, I wasn't going to return it on that basis. Buuuut, I soon found it was too small. If you're only looking to put in a couple of items, such as a passport and maybe two pieces of jewelry (in their cases), you're fine, but more than that and you'll likely be looking for something bigger. I ended up getting a 0.40 cubic foot one from the same manufacturer, but this is the only model that comes in various appealing colors! This safe didn't have the problem I've read other safes having, where the door + batteries become so heavy it unbalances the whole safe or causes the door to sag. In both safes that I bought from the same maker, the door worked as it should and had no balancing issues. What does detract from the product is the fact that the door, obviously having to house the locking and light mechanisms, is pretty thick, so you don't have as much space inside as you might think. You can't place anything right to the edge of the door, because then the door won't be able to close. That's partly why this small safe didn't work out for me. Pros: - Easy to program - Inner light - Intuitive to open - Comes with felt lining - Sturdy - Cute size in various colors for small items Cons: - The door thickness takes away storage space - The plastic piece that 'hides' the key lock dropped off immediately, but then was impossible to replace; not that huge a deal, but still - Might be too small, depending on your needs

When deciding what safe I needed I tried to get one that was just big enough for my needs. I expected a Small safe. What I got was much bigger than what needed however. This thing holds about twice what I expected. My only suggestion to those that are looking to purchase this Is Do It! Don't Wait. Buy this thing, But Buy some extra AA batteries. The ones it came with it were almost dead. They last about 3 days. I purchased some batteries from a more recognized brand (AKA "Energizer") and they are working fine.
