  • Perfect Real Estate Lens on a budget
I am a full time real estate shooter and for the longest time I used a Laowa 9mm on my Sony APSC cameras but recently made the jump to a Sony A7iv and did want to shoot in APSC mode and lose megapixels so I decided to grab this lens. The results I've been able to achieve are on par with the Laowa and now I have auto focus which is something I very much wanted for video purposes. My only issue so far is in video this lens has a lot of breathing which can be a deal breaker for some. I also wasn't aware that I could not update the lens firmware unless I spend another $60-70 on a dock for the lens so that is very disappointing to me. I wish there was a way to even see what firmware is currently on the lens in the system menus but I have yet to be able to find it. Overall in terms of shooting real estate stills and video I am incredibly satisfied with this lens at it's price point. ... show more

  • Great photo quality, but the build quality is questionable
it is a really nice lens. photos taken are great and no distortion noticed. however, i don't know if something wrong, lens cap damage the hood, which should not happen. the caps and hood seems too get scratch easily, which reduce its value quickly.

  • Awesome budget real estate lens.
This is a must have lens for a budget full frame real estate photography kit. Truly the only lens you need to start with. I use it with a sony A7ii and love it, it takes care of 99% of my real estate work. For things other than real estate, the autofocus is far enough for non action shots, at least with the A7ii. Is also a joy for astro photography!!! Don't hesitate buying this lens! ... show more

  • Great Lens for the price
So, I bought this after doing some research as I was looking for a solid Astro photography. And I have to say the reviews were absolutely spot on, this is a sold lens especially at this price point. Images are sharp, auto focus is good and the over all performance is amazing. You wont regret buying this lens I can guarantee it. ... show more

  • Great Lens
Wonderful optics and performance. The only downside is that due to the domed glass design, ND filters are not available easily or at all. If you need to shoot low light inside this lens is a dream. If however, you shoot outdoors in the sunlight and need to compensate with Neutral Density filter, you may want to explore other options. ... show more

  • Not disappointed.
Let’s face it, you don’t buy this lens because it’s the best, you buy it because it’s 1/3 the price of the Sony. That said it’s still pretty good.

  • Too Much Distortion - Bad Fly-by-Wire Control
I bought this lens to use on my a7s2 in order to create walk-through videos of homes for Realtors. I need a fly-by-wire lens to do this because in order to create these videos FAST (that's important since the customers don't like to pay a lot for these basic basic basic videos) you need to shoot in S-Priority so that the camera can take control of the aperture and open it up and close it down as it sees fit as light levels increase and decrease when you walk through the house filming. This lens had a good bit of barrel distortion but I was willing to forgive that because I felt that it was likely that the customer would never really notice. I was happy that it could go to 2.8 and let double the light into the camera that my previous f4 lens could. The deal killer though was the aperture control. It wasn't smooth like my 16-35 f4. Instead of seamlessly opening and closing the aperture it would wait to do so...then make a big jump. Like...a full stop of light jump as compared to how my 16-35mm would adjust on the fly in 1/10th of a stop increments. The result was that the light levels would jump up and then jump down as the amount of the light in the scene changed. This wasn't workable. I dunno if the lens was designed to only adjust in 1-stop increments when used in S-Priority mode or if this was due to the fact that the lens couldn't "talk" to the camera efficiently enough to know to make the adjustments faster and thus more smoothly. Either way, it had to go back and was replaced with the significantly more expensive 12-24mm f4. Sure, I lost the extra stop of light and sure I didn't want to spring for the extra coin...but the downsides to this lens were not acceptable trade-offs for what I do. ... show more
