I bought this recently based off the reviews and I will say this is great! I have it in my living room(no ethernet required). It connected to the wireless quickly via smart thing app..Very easy setup, and I have my z-wave connected and using it through Alexa..Again, all very easy to set up..As a quick note, if using z-wave connection through the smart things app, you will not have a lot of control options beyond the basic open/close..I heard you'll have to get the Classic..Not sure how true that is..

I bought this device along with water sensors to shut down well system if leaks are detected. The 3 smart plugs I bought power down all the time randomly without being commanded to do so. Even when I set up program on leaked detectors to do nothing and smart plugs to stay on 24 hours a day. They still always shut off and leak detectors Always detect a leak that isn't there? Everything is dry. Along with the smart hub? I wasted almost $500.

I switched from wink, So far love it...still doing a lot of searching what devices I could add it to make my home smarter. So far my door lock, alarm, first alert, lights, outlets....any ideas? Hopefully good in long run, no need monthly payments and better better update in the future

Whatever you do don't switch from the Classic App to the "new" app. It turns an OK product into a horrible and frustrating experience. The Classic App had nice dimming switches to dim the lights to any level desired The new app made these controls tiny so you will be guessing the approximate percentage you desire. The new app is very slow. My outlet used to turn on and off fairly quickly. Now I get a lot of spinning (thinking) by every device. I'm going to try and switch back to the Classic app or just buy a Hubitat as most former SmartThings users have recommended.
