It's always a gamble buying a phone that's renewed/refurbished, because you hope you're going to get what the seller actually promises (as opposed to a disappointing/broken/non-working product). This isn't my first refurbished phone, but I'm always a little anxious spending the money on something I HOPE is going to be good (as opposed to brand-new/unused). I bought this phone in refurbished/excellent condition. After reading multiple reviews on multiple refurbished phone listings on Amazon, my biggest concern was (always is) getting one with a damaged screen, cameras, or having it not truly be unlocked. I've had this phone less than 24 hours, but here's my take SO far (I can't speak for other people, these are just my experiences): 1) Yes, it was (for me) truly, 100% unlocked. Not even an ex-carrier logo when I first turned it on! (My previous 'unlocked' refurbished phone has a T-Mobile logo when turned on) I was quite happy/impressed about this. 2) No scratches (that I could see) on the front/touchscreen. There are multiple, TINY scuffs on the sides (not part of the touchscreen)/top edge/bottom edge of the phone - which I fully expected w/ a refurbished phone, and I'm totally fine with it (and this is if I'm REALLY nitpicking - they're really not that bad, though. It's just not FLAWLESS, which - again - I'm fine with). 3) 99% flawless on the backside - the ONLY thing I can see is a TINY scuff on the edge of one of the cameras (not the actual camera/glass screen itself), and this is cosmetic - it doesn't affect the quality of the camera (that I've noticed). 4) S-Pen pops out like it should, seems to be fine. 5) Charges just fine so far - both wireless and wired. 6) Popped in my SIM card (US Mobile, uses T-Mobile network), and it worked instantly. No phone/SIM-related problems so far. Everything - and I mean everything (data, wallpapers, photos, Samsung Notes from my previous phone, sounds/ringtones, apps, folders, etc) - transferred from my old phone perfectly (Samsung Smart Switch app). 7) Fingerprint reader works fine for me so far - and that's with a plastic-y (TPU?) screen protector that I put on it. I haven't noticed any real issues thus far - if anything changes, I'll update my review. OVERALL: For me, yes it's definitely worth the money. If you're considering it and you're on the fence (and I understand why you might be), I say go for it. I'm very satisfied, hopefully nothing changes in time. Buying refurbished is a great way (in theory, lol) to save money while still getting a phone you really want (I think they're normally way overpriced anyway). Shipping was great (got mine the next day!), no issues with packaging (very safe/secure), and the phone - while not literally FLAWLESS - still looks great, works great, and I look forward to using it for a long time to come! Absolute worst experience I have ever had with Amazon or a seller. I was so excited when my phone came in it looked perfect everything seemed great. Not one single visible imperfection until I installed my SIM card. Then nothing. The phone would not connect on any network we tried Att, Verizon, T-Mobile, Google Fi, and Visible. I put the same SIM cards in my brother's identical phone and his worked fine. I connected the phone to Wi-Fi magically the network connects and says the device is registered on Verizon network. No matter where I went regardless of which network or SIM, (ESIM or physical we tried both) the phone would not work on any network without being connected to Wi-Fi.(I live in a rural area our only options are satellite) After research I found this was a known issue with this device I reached out to the seller and got a standard automated message. No help at all. I reached out to Amazon where was told I would have to return the item. I let them know that was not financially feasible for me I needed to do an exchange. Amazon said they would reach out to the seller & find out if an exchange would be available. I was told no, I need to reach out to the seller myself to try and work something out. I reached out to the seller they responded with an obvious automated template explaining again that it would be up to Amazon. This phone was purchased out of necessity because my 22+ had a cracked screen and was showing obvious signs of impending death. The day after I transferred all of my information from my 22+ to the 22Ultra my 22+ succumbed to nearly 3 years of daily use. This phone is not a luxury item to me but a necessity for work and school. If nearly $500 is a substantial amount of money to you I highly suggest looking into Amazon's return policy and the seller's responsiveness. Also their ability to correct their mistakes without putting undue financial on someone who's only mistake was not thoroughly researching the seller's and Amazon's policies . Again the phone looked fantastic. The camera functioned as it should. The phone registered on the Verizon network every time I was connected to Wi-Fi. I would receive all of the text messages. As soon as I left Wi-Fi the phone said no network and emergency calls only. This may be a one off with this seller their reviews are great but unfortunately I received a dud & no customer service to go with it. Still waiting on acknowledgement of my return. Amazon can see it was delivered to them but not picked up. Their tracking shows I haven't even picked it up. ... show more

When buying a renewed phone from Amazon look at the store that it's coming from and check it's reviews because each phone comes from different sellers and some are better than others. This phone was my second one that I ordered because the first one had to be returned, it kept dropping signal even though it looked like a perfect phone. Ive purchased this exact phone before from a different site. It was very laggy and the display colours seemed off, and would overheat on the charger.. 2 months later the screen burned out. This phone already seems to be much better. No lagging and the display is great! It doesnt burn up when charging either. I opted for a refurbished phone in "excellent" condition. The one I received was just that. The only damage I could see is around the top and bottom edges of the phone where a case was on and clearly rubbed against it. No visible scratches any where on the phone or camera/screen. Practically brand new. There was some grime packed in around the edges of all the camera lenses that wasnt cleaned off prior to shipping that I had to clean myself. Regardless it's a win for me. Edit 09/04/2025: After encountering this same issue on a brand new phone after 1 year of regular use, I did some additional research to find that this phone model commonly has a faulty solder joint to the antenna. Tldr, avoid this one and get one newer or older, just not this one Edit 04/05/2024: Currently 0/4 now on these refurbished phones, never had these issues before with used phones. I wanted to post a review for each of the phones however it looks like two were posted from the same listing so this speaks for all. With these items being not fulfilled by Amazon, it is the fault of RE-CELL, Cell Rider, ELECTRONICDEALS, and MOBILESUPPLY. Check with the actual seller (not amazon) to see if they are trustworthy, I have found them to be not. I received the phone and all was fine for the first day. Showed up great condition, barely could tell it was refurbished, and was pleased with the condition and delivery/unboxing experience so far. Though after that I noticed I had lost cell service, and would refuse to connect to any cell network, after I went through a few days of rigorous troubleshooting on my own and with Verizon they advised me to replace the phone, which I did. Thankfully the return process was fine and was accepted, however the fact that the only option listed was a UPS picked, in which they would require me to wait for them to arrive at some point in the next 3 days, however they never showed up, so I had to reschedule a second pickup with amazon, and wait another 2 days until a pickup. Had there been a drop-off option like every other item I have ordered on this site, I could have had the refund started a week prior. Instead I had to go through a magnitude more hassle to send back a phone that should have never been OK'd in the first place. I am surprised something simple like a phone being locked to a carrier would slip through your QC process, like c'mon its just a simple IMEI check, just do it, its not terribly hard. I've purchased many refurbished phones in my time, this is the first time I've received one that didn't work as a phone. Scuffs, scratches, dings, dents, that's fair play with used phones and I've become used to, but it needs to at least work like a phone. (Spoiler alert, I've now had to go through 3 (YES THREE) of the S22 Ultra ''''Factory Unlocked'''' phones so far, with all 3 having issues, 2 of them being the IMEI lock issue on these unlocked phones.) At this point in time, I no longer trust Amazon for my used phone needs. I'm 0/3 on phones from supposed 'excellent' condition, nothing has been excellent about my experience other than finally seeing my money be returned. ... show more
