  • one of the lowest priced options I found and made in Korea too. Revived a 2012 Macbook Pro
TL;DR: easy to install, works just fine, one of the lowest priced options on Amazon, from a big name company, and not made in China. Recommended. I salvaged a discarded mid 2012 Macbook Pro non-retina from an electronics recycling bin in my apartment building and it had the original 4GB of RAM and 5200rpm hard drive. It was so slow that it was basically useless. I decided to try to upgrade it to see if I could get it to a usable state. I decided to go with 8GB of RAM and replacing the hard drive with an SSD drive. For $28 this was one of the cheapest options I found for 8GB RAM on Amazon. It was Samsung branded too which was a little more reassuring to me as a big name/known brand. The picture in the Amazon listing shows "made in China" but the pair that I received was labeled as being made in Korea. This may or may not make a difference performance wise but I took it as an added bonus nonetheless. Installed it along with the new SSD hard drive without much trouble and the machine runs more than fine as a basic computer (internet, email, YouTube, Netflix, MS Office, etc.). I would buy it again and recommend it. ... show more

  • Wow!
I have a MacBook from mid 2012 and it has always been slower than snails which is quite disappointing. I bought this and installed it myself and it was easier than tying my shoes. Let me add I am by no means a computer person. My computer runs like I expected it to now. This was the easiest, best upgrade I have done to anything before. ... show more

  • Better than new.
I revived my 2012 Macbook Pro, which was running painfully slow, to the point of not being useable. With the estimates I was getting to have it upgraded, I opted to buy a Lenovo laptop., that's quite nice, Even so I missed my Macbook. So after watching every youtube video on cloning and replacing a hard drive, I decided to do it myself. I installed a SAMSUNG 500gb SSD drive and 8gb of Samsung memory. I know there are some putting in 16gb 's of memory, but originally Apple said it could be upgraded to 8gb from 4. To be honest, I don't remember it running this fast, and all for under a hundred dollars. ... show more

  • It's a little faster
This replaced my 4gb of RAM and I've been testing it for 2 days. It's a little faster so far, nothing to brag about. Will update my review in a few weeks after more use.
