  • Q60R - 82" QLED
Style: TV only Size: 82 in
I recently saw a family member with an 85 inch TV and I was hooked. I never jumped on the 4K bandwagon and had a plasma that was 4-5 years old (no smart TV, no 4K). I figured this was a good time to jump in. I saw the LG 86" TV for about 2,200 on a few websites, but there were almost no reviews anywhere on the product which spooked me. I have always owned Samsung so I trusted it when I saw the Q60. Unfortunately, it was just outside my price range at $2800. Enter the open box boys at Video & Audio Center who are general the cheapest offering when you click on "USED - LIKE NEW". First, The VIDEO and AUDIO Center in California was incredibly professional. Communicated from the time I made the purchase and helped me with a very unorganized shipping company (the delivery driver, incredible - the shipping company itself, incompetent). It was projected to arrive August 12 and it arrived the 16th. Nevertheless, hard to beat free shipping from California to the East Coast with a 130 lb package. The 80" model is heavy as all get out. The only issue I might have had with this "USED - LIKE NEW" pitch from the seller is they are clearly a Samsung authorized dealer so they must be pushing out dozens and dozens of these (I see they still have more right now). The rear of my TV had a 4 inch GASH in the plastic. No one will ever see it. It didnt bother me at all. However, I would recommend that the seller perhaps take a more individual approach to each specific package. They are selling this as a "OPEN BOX - LIKE NEW". Clearly, someone tried to mount this... failed when they realized it was too heavy and caused a gash near the mounting hole. Again, I would have STILL bought this at a 700 dollar discount for something no one would ever see, but it wouldve been nice to know. The shipping driver who was incredibly helpful felt bad because he thought they might have caused it when clearly this was an old issue - just be forewarned if you are buying from Amazon's "USED & NEW" tab. The TV itself is breathtaking. If you can squeeze out the extra cash for this over a 65-75 inch, DO IT. Obviously, my old plasma had a much higher refresh rate, but the sheer size of this is insanity. Also ensure you have 12-15+ feet of space to distance yourself from the TV. I am about at 12 feet and the size is perfect, but I can see if I were to watch a fast motion paced game or movie, my eyes may not be able to handle it quite as long. It is literally like sitting in a theater (the good and bad that comes out of that). The TV is hooked to a 5.2 system so I cannot really comment much on its speakers, but the few times I had to turn of the A/V equipment, the TVs standard speakers werent terrible if you need to keep the volume reasonable. Again, this TV is heavy. You will not be able to mount alone. You will not be able to remove from the box alone. You will probably not even be able to carry the TV if the person you are with isn't strong enough to lift 50 lbs themselves comfortably. This was VERY heavy. We ended up buying a gigantic and heavy mount that we paid Amazon to mount for us just so we didnt have to deal with this ever again. I have seen some comments complain about clouding. We've only had it a week so hopefully that never arises, but as of now it looks wonderful. ... show more

First, the TV arrived damaged, but I couldn't be more pleased with the way Amazon handled the issue. I used the online chat tool and the support was superb. I had my replacement in 2 days’ time and the Amazon rep. emailed me the return code immediately for my return. If I have any complaints (which isn’t a reflection on Samsung or Amazon), it's that the UPS driver most certainly had to have seen the damage to the box but simply dropped it at my door and left. I'm of the opinion too that the shipper should be responsible for picking up the damaged unit and returning it. Who's to say that UPS was the only handler though? I have no idea. I do have my doubts the TV left Amazons' facility in that condition though. Regardless, Amazon knocked it out of the park with how they handled this for me, and I rarely have any complaints about UPS either, I prefer them over the others. The TV itself is an entry level QLED so I'm not sure whether that makes a difference or not. I'm always satisfied and impressed by Samsung's quality and so is the case with this TV, although I'm not sure I see much of a difference between this unit and an LED. To be fair though, I'm a cable cutter, so I only stream my content via Netflix, YouTube TV and Amazon Prime, so I'm not sure I've seen enough of the higher quality media to judge this QLED fairly. Netflix has some 4K HDR videos available, so I’ll give those a try and report back later perhaps. This TV was marked down by $500 when I purchased it and I’ve been wanting to try the QLED, so why not at this price? I’m most certainly not going to pay the delta in cost for the OLED in the other brands, I’m just not that much of a videophobe. Some complain about the remote and the fact it’s so minimal, but my wife and I have grown to prefer that over an enormous remote that barely fits into one hand. This remote performs any task you want, so I’m not sure those who are complaining are familiar enough with the remote. We love this Samsung remote. I love the Samsung TV’s and their simplicity; I prefer Samsung’s user interface. This TV also defaults back to whatever app you were watching when you turned the unit off, I prefer that over having it default to the channel tuner, considering I don’t have any channels. We had an LG that defaulted to the annoying snow and static of the channel tuner every time we turned on the unit. You couldn’t click on another app quickly enough to avoid being so damned annoyed by that noise, and LG provided no means of changing the default input to something else, so we were stuck with that. I also purchased the Samsung HW-MS650/ZA sound bar with this TV. This sound bar doesn’t have the sub-woofer, which we have no decent place for, so that’s what drove my decision on this sound bar. I’m very pleased with how well the soundbar and the TV synced together, which has been an issue on previous TV’s and soundbars for us in the past. If you’re entertaining a soundbar, go one step up and purchase one that won’t require you turn it on and off separately from the TV. That’s extremely annoying. ... show more
