One of the wonders of the Tab S8 line is the thin dimensions to the tablet. It isn't that we can fold it in two with our bare hands but that it's strong enough to not surrender to this feat of strength. Even the tablet line comes standard with Gorrilla glass on the screen, it is a deceptively mighty device. The Ultra version of the tablet line is even more so. However, the daily use of the unit may expose it to the occasional bump or scratch. A case can help safeguard our $1 thousand investment. If we are to use this equipment for five years or more, investing in a worthwhile case is really advisable. So, yes, I'm advising you to buy a good one. I have purchased cases with magnetic closures and pricing for about $20 in the past that was good enough. Yet the Ultra is a different beast entirely. This Samsung case is different. Solid in structure and heft, it isn't my first of all choices displayed. While it is near bullet proof there is no cover built-in for the front screen. Hear me out though! The 14.6 screen of the Ultra is built not to be portable but to be left on your desktop or kitchen table. Therefore a magnetic cover for the screen is overkill. This case adds thickness but, again, we aren't lugging this beast around, except for traveling bedroom to table to sunroom. You are not sliding the tablet into a backpack or throwing it into the backseat of your Tesla. It isn't the right tool for all that. I have a second hand S7 for all that. This case is thick, sturdy with a stand that is hinged. It is about fifty dollars and should last you five years if you don't abuse it. Buy one.

If you are looking for a protective case that doesn't add lots of bulk, this is the one to go with for your Samsung S8 Tab Ultra. The materials are solid and the fit is perfection (as you would expect from an OEM part). It does add some weight to the tablet, but for me that was not a concern. Surprisingly tough to find (I had to get mine from a vendor in the UK), but worth the investment. The S8 Tab Ultra is a premium tablet, get a premium case to protect it! Also, since this case does not cover the screen, get a tempered glass screen protector to pair with it.

I have had many Samsung tablets over the years. I love to read, so having a good stand for my S8 Ultra is required. This stand is sturdy, unlike the flimsy covers/stands I have used in the past. The only thing to be aware of: No cover for the front. The screen is very strong, so I don't mind.

Really nice case for the S8 Ultra. So many cases are around this price range, but fail to deliver due to find a stand that can support the weight of the tablet. It's the official case, so you can expect good stable quality. If I had to complain, the case attracts greaseiness or oils from your hands a lot. Looks bad, but the feel is worth it.

I've actually bought 2 of these cases and both developed a problem with the hinge within a month. I thought it was a fluke so I returned mine and got a new one, but it happened again. While it still works pretty much as intended, it clicks whenever it's opened or closed and it's a lot looser than it should be. Overall the Case isn't terrible, and it's quite protective, but for a Samsung product this durability issue is inexcusable. Additionally the soft tough back is a magnet for fingerprints and is a nightmare to clean.
