  • Overall good product/sound for the price; if no sound from the rear speaker kit read this...
Style: HW-B57C Pattern: Soundbar
First off, if your rear sound kit is linked (consistent blue light) but you don't hear sound, make sure that ONLY the metal tips of the speaker wire are inserted into the rear speaker +/- inputs and none of the rubber housing is touching or inserted. Search youtube "How To Fix No Sound on Samsung Wireless Speakers on initial install SWA-8000S" for a gentlemen who posted a video that solved the issue for myself and 200+ others. Now for the review. My use is for switching between a large lcd tv and primary sound for a gaming computer which I also use the tv as an extended display and/or play music files/youtube, etc. All copacetic via the hdmi arc and hdmi input connections through this soundbar. The pros: Honestly the sound is very good for the price point. The Bluetooth sub hits well for either music or movie explosions in an average sized living room. Despite the problem I mentioned above, the rear speaker kit and the sub both linked to the bar, out of the box, without me having to do any special syncing. There is a feature under 'sound control' called "voice enhance" that I really like for some shows/movies where the dialogue seems too low volume. All items are solid and have a good quality look and feel to them. If you've installed household audio before, it's pretty much standard...also like that the hdmi and other connections are on the bottom (not the back, as some do with no space between the bar and the wall!) The cons: -For those rear speakers, 'wireless' doesn't mean wireless. That rectangular piece in the picture is a wireless receiver and the back speakers are wired to it. They don't show wires in the stock photos. (Wires included) -I don't like the flow of the remote. Just seems like they tried to consolidate too much into a few buttons. You really have to read the user manual as nothing seems obvious at first, including the volume controls which push 'up and down'..after you go from mute to 30 a few times by pressing them as buttons, not up/down switches, you'll see what I mean. -I also don't like that in conjunction with using the remote you are directed by this tiny scrolling digital display on the soundbar where you have to let the word play out to see what function it is. It's meant to be helpful, but adds to the confusion of the remote imo. -Doesn't seem to be smart home capable (ie "google/alexa play song name on Samsung soundbar", would have been a nice addon, as other's in its price range have, but not a major thing for me. Really, just those, and the stuff with the remote I suspect I will get used to over time. I haven't attempted to Bluetooth sound to it from, say, a smart phone yet. There is a bt button on the remote so I imagine you would just press it, the device shows up on your bt list on the phone, and you simply connect to it. Wrapping up...I love the sound for the price, quality feel to the build of the speakers, does everything I need it to. I gave it 4 stars...if I were only using with a tv, would probably do 5, but since I'm switching with the computer, having an easier to use remote, say a simple 'source button', would be helpfull. Also using the word 'wireless' for the rear speakers felt like kind of a gotcha. ... show more

  • Where has this been all our lives? It is a BUY!
Style: HW-C450 Pattern: Soundbar
This sound bar and woofer are great. Got a large flat screen years ago and struggle with poor sound quality. Plugged this in (literally)- you get an OPTICAL cord not HDMI but that saves you money and we hooked it up to our TV and it self paired with our Samsung TV to our Cable service remote. We just turn it out and there is the sound we have been missing. We also use an old DVD player and was able to config that to also divert to the sound bar and that takes care of the "sound down" that occurs with DVD's. Love turning up the bass and listening to music. The quality is very good. Don't know if they consider this basic but it is comparable to our Bose system that is 15 years old. I would recommend this- pretty much hooking up is a no brainer. I also like that you get the wall mount brackets. We did not wall mount our TV since I don't want to strain my neck looking over a fireplace to watch TV. It's on a beautiful cabinet with wall straps to preventing falling over. We placed the sound bar on the wood in front of the TV and made sure to shut off the TV speakers. Again, sound is very very good. Price is good too. ... show more

  • Samsung HW-B57C
Style: HW-B57C Pattern: Soundbar
TLDR of this review, the instructions are pretty useless, and you’ve gotta be tech savvy to figure out this system setup. Detailed review following. Out of the box, I didn’t really need instructions AT FIRST, im a pretty tech savvy person and plugging everything in is pretty self-explanatory. HOWEVER, once everything is plugged in, this is when my real setup challenges started. Plugged the sound bar into the ARC HDMI connection on my tv, and soundbar wasn’t working until I went into the TV settings (I have a Roku TV), went to audio, and checked all the CEC settings. (If you plug the soundbar into any other HDMI port, I couldn’t get the soundbar to work). Then unplugged the power to the TV, replugged it in and turned it on and the SOUNDBAR worked, but not the sub or rears. On the ARC subject, I previously had an Xbox plugged into that port, make sure you remove that device from the menu on the tv, then plug the soundbar in. Otherwise, it won’t recognize what’s being plugged in and sound won’t play. As other reviews have mentioned, the instructions are very unclear and overall pretty useless. To connect the sub, you have to hold the directional up button on the remote for 5 seconds, THEN go to your sub, hold the ID SETUP button for 5 seconds, wait until the led is solid blue, then I unplugged the soundbar, plugged it back in and they connected. Probably took me 30 min to figure out the sub. And finally, the rears. They have color coded wires, again relatively self explanatory plugging everything in. Make sure you don’t feed the wires into their respective ports too far, there’s a plastic insulation that wraps around the outside of the copper and can prevent contact. I was fussing with these rears for HOURS. Eventually gave up and tried it the next day, ended up completely disconnecting everything and reconnecting it all. Apparently, my rears will only turn on when the sound bar is set to surround sound mode, any other mode they won’t play, for me at least. Also, they are VERY quiet. Once I reconnected everything I still wasn’t getting sound, I was troubleshooting online and was sitting right next to one of the rears, and I thought I might’ve heard something from them. So I put the speaker to my ear and I could hear them playing. Extremely quiet though, they came as part of the bundle, however if they didn’t come as a bundle, and I knew they were that quiet, I wouldn’t even bother buying them. I have the volume to the rears turned up to +6 which is max volume, and they still don’t produce any significant sound. They get completely overpowered by the soundbar/sub. For the rear connecting process, use the same process as the sub. Overall to recap everything, for the price I paid (I got these on prime day so they were 180 instead of 250) they’re pretty good. The soundbar and sub produce very good sound. The rears are frustrating, for all the setup time i put into these, they’re very quiet and overall insignificant relative to the rest of the system. Connecting everything is not for the faint of heart, if my parents bought this system I don’t think they would’ve been able to figure it out. The directions are pretty much useless, and the setup was very frustrating and challenging. Once setup though, for the price, I’d say I’m overall happy with the setup. If you do buy these, keep the box with you in case you need to return them. Hopefully the directions I put above are a little more useful than what comes in the box. ... show more
