Purchased a new LED TV after 12 years -unfortunately the existing soundbar I added as not compatible with the new TV so I needed a new one. My criteria was simple: not terribly expensive, Optical connection required AND same brand (compatible components working together is a big requirement me). Search through a bunch of I found the B550 fits all my categories. the install and connecting it to the TV was easier than expected - the optical connection was immediately recognized. I also using Bluetooth for headphones when others are sleeping. This Samsung sound bar with sub woofer is about $100 less than the exact same model I found in Best Buy. It's easy to hook up and it sounds great with the adjustable sub woofer output. It didn't work with the HDMI cable I was using so I called Samsung customer service and they helped me discover that the cable was defective, but a simple set up change set the connection to wireless blue tooth and it works great. ... show more

Vizio M Series had really stale and static sound in comparison. The remote was also slow to respond and had too many inputs, each time you switched it voiced the the input type outloud which got annoying really fast. It voiced the input types at varying volumes as well. Had to play around with the settings to get it how I wanted but I found what worked best for me. It ended up NOT being the DTS:X profile, but it's nice that the option is there. That said my gripes with the DTS:X/Virtual Surround are with the profile/software itself which is the same on any sound device, not a gripe with the soundbar itself. It's still a nice profile but I preferred the others. Also you can use the voice boost with DTS:X so just one other reason not to use it. The subwoofer gives a good enough umph without being too much which is good because I didn't want to get carried away with bass anyway. It does have enough bass and treble. Overall good sound for a sub 200 soundbar, if you get it with the subwoofer. ... show more

I bought and returned 2 other sound bars before this one. I like well balanced sound and especially understandable voice when watching movies and shows. This system has good bass. Just hooked it up and i have to say i am very pleased. I had planned to wire it directly to the tv but the bluetooth hook up was so easy and works so good there is no point to go through the extra work. Sound quality is leaps and bounds better then the internal tv speakers. It automatically connects when i turn the tv on and operates using my tv remote. Side note i do have it connected to a Samsung tv so that may be the reason for the seem less integration but i really couldn’t be happier ... show more

Worked fine for a little over a year until one day my TV kept dropping the sound bar and defaulting to the TV speakers. Well, it happened to be a problem with the sound bar losing connection with the subwoofer. Easy fix, set it back in pairing mode and they should connect, right? Nope. Firmware update, setup in isolated area, factory reset, nothing. For whatever reason the soundbar could not reconnect to the subwoofer. For the price it was acceptable when it was working but not lasting even two years is kind of pathetic. Thankfully I still have a Yamaha Yas 209 and while the sound might not be as loud, I've never had an issue with it. ... show more
