  • Does it's job well, fun to use, reliable under water.
I have used the Great Fit2 Pro for about 10 weeks now, primarily for cycling, swimming, and running. Excellent training tool. I use it in addition to Strava. I tried the Strava app designed for the Gear Fit2, but found that using the resident Gear Fit app in parallel with Strava (by phone) provided me with more of the details and reliability that I need. The resident workout app provides decent data and route maps, with a basic color map even displayed directly on the watch. The resident real-time workout display is geared to the specific activity and is customizable. Very reliable in the water and very accurate for swim distance and pool lap counting. I have used it in fresh water, ocean water, and pools. Roughly 25 swim workouts. No problems at all with water resistance or operation. I do not push a button when it is under water. Heart rate is typical of watch based accuracy, i.e. - it does not seem to be quite as accurate as a chest strap. Sometimes it is spot on, sometimes it is not. The watch also displays desired notifications. For me, the text message display is very useful, particularly when I need to be discreet. I have the Gear Fit2 Pro paired with an Android phone (Motorola). Sleep data is fun, but I am not certain of the technical usefulness. Almost all sleep periods for me are above 90 percent efficiency (which may be correct because I fall asleep in 30 seconds and sleep like a rock). Battery life has been solid for my use. I charge it for 45 minutes every day or two. I wear it constantly at all other times. Readability is good both indoor and outdoor. There is a quick touch outdoor mode that sets full brightness for 5 minutes, then returns to previous setting. Full bright goes to 11, as in Spinal Tap. And on that note, I am finished. ... show more

  • like twists, etc
I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so I bought this to help me keep track of my physical activity level through the day. I wanted a watch that would track exercise (I do elliptical), steps, calories burned, and sleep (I have insomnia and sleep issues). Physical Activity - The watch reminds me to get up off my butt and move. It will walk you through stretches you can do, like twists, etc. You can modify the duration of inactivity before being reminded. Exercise - This watch tracks multiple forms of exercise (running, walking, treadmill, cycling, hiking, lunges, crunches, elliptical, etc). You can set your duration and the watch will update you on your time status every 5 minutes (this can be adjusted, the default is 5). Also, tracks calories burned on what you are doing and appears to do so based on heart rate. Steps - Not the most accurate, but I don't know any watch that is. It does a decent job though, and it does remind me to keep moving and helps me hit a step target that works well for me. Calories - This will show how many calories you have burned based on steps and any exercise you may have done. I can't tell how accurate it is, as I have not yet compared it to other things. It gives me a good enough idea, though, to be able to know how much I need to eat in order to lose weight. It works very well with the Samsung Health app if you track your calories there. Sleep - I've had a couple of watches and apps to track sleep, and this one is far more accurate than any of them. It syncs with the Samsung Health app and shows deep sleep, light sleep, etc. This has been very helpful in trying to work through my sleep issues and trying to determine which natural and prescription sleep medications work best for me. Other - Many different watch faces available. A decent selection of free ones and some pay ones that are great too. You can link your weather app to the watch, your calendar, track water, and caffeine intake link to Endomondo, MapMyRun, UA Record, and My Fitness Pal. Shows floors (I don't use the GPS on the watch as it drains the battery quickly so it bases that on your phone), you also have an option to do it "together" if you want to track with a group. The heart rate monitor is fairly accurate and you can set thresholds on the app. The watch also shows your text messages and allows basic replies (you can program these with the app on your phone) as well as incoming phone calls and accept/reject them. Many other apps link too for notifications like Facebook and email (most notifications you get on the notification bar on your phone will show up on the watch), but I personally have disabled most of them. Finally, syncing this to your Galaxy couldn't be any easier. Download the app, then turn on the watch (assuming Bluetooth is able to be found on your phone), and then a code appears on the watch and the phone, confirm if they match, and that is it. My wife loved my watch so much that she got one too (thus two reviews that say the same thing). ... show more

  • Now my Favorite Fitness Tracker but poor battery life and no website
Updates: Having had this for a week now I have learned to used the heart monitor and it's great. It has been comparable to the heart rate monitor on the treadmill I use and the elliptical I use. This has now become my favorite fitness tracker! Original Review: This is a very sleek design and is comfortable to wear. After downloaded what seems to be 5 different apps/plugins this easily synced with my phone and has maintained a high sync reliability. Although I say 5 different apps or plugins, they were very easy install and not an inconvenience. Notifications from the various messaging apps, Facebook, Telegram, Instagram and Text Messaging and incoming phone calls are sent to me phone without issue and surprisingly reliably. There is a decent availability of free clock faces that display steps, calories, floors and although unreliably my heart rate. What I don’t like: *Battery Life: Based in my use the battery seems to last only 2.5 days. This is under what I could consider normal usage, such as periodically checking the time. Looking at incoming messages and checking the weather. I kept the heart rate monitor and frequent and not constant. I recommend buying a second charging base; one for home and one for the office. You can get those for around $9. *Heart Monitor: The heart monitor is terribly inaccurate when involved in strenuous activity. During a run on the treadmill the treadmill heart rate sensor had my rate calculated at 174. I did a manual calculation of a round 165. However, my Fit 2 Pro never calculated my heart rate above 131. Additionally, it was very sensitive to any interference. In order to gain a heart rate measurement, I had to secure the device to my wrist very tightly and not move otherwise I would get a message that the sensor was dirty or I needed to adjust how tightly I secured the device. This essentially made the device useless for tracking my heart rate during exercises which was a major reason for purchasing the device. *Web Interface: There is no web site to review personal stats and set up a dashboard. This was a key feature of another fitness tracker I used. This is a real miss for me. Overall, for the price it is a good pedometer and sleep tracker and smart watch. If I was not frustrated with another leading brand due to wide spread connectivity issues, I would not go to this as my first choice. The heart rate monitor though inaccurate is relatively usable generally outside of workouts. And for the price is not bad. ... show more
