  • The best fitness gadgets
Style: Peak
The WHOOP is honestly one of the best fitness trackers I’ve used. It’s not just about steps, it really helps you understand your body on a deeper level. I also use an Apple Watch, and I’ve noticed a slight difference in step counts between the two, but it’s nothing major. The WHOOP still gives a solid sense of daily activity and complements the broader health insights. For work, it’s been super useful. I can actually see how stressful or busy days affect my energy and recovery, which helps me pace myself better and avoid feeling drained. The sleep tracking is amazing. It shows way more than just hours slept, you get details on sleep stages and recovery, so you can actually improve your sleep habits and feel more rested. It’s really comfortable to wear all the time, even while sleeping, which makes a big difference. Overall, I’d easily give it a 5/5,it just makes it easier to stay on top of your health, work, and daily routine. ... show more

Bought the Whoop 5.0 Peak plan. I’ve been using it for a week - so far so good. The tracking is on point, and the suggestions are helpful to know how to improve my recovery.

  • I love my new Whoop
Style: Peak
My Whoop is a very comfortable and a very complete health monitor. I am very pleased with my purchase. It details my sleep quality and also gives tips on how to improve. The size does not interfere with movement. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the information can be sent to your doctor to share individual data over a period of time. I have not shared information with my doctor, yet but it is a great health fearure. I am in a community with my friends. I am trying to improve my sleep quality and my Whoop is very helpful as I try to maximize sleep quality. I love my Whoop! ... show more

  • Whoop has some good stats, and some fake hype too
Style: Peak
WHOOP will be at you day and night; the device is very frisky when it comes to telling you your basic health stats and behaviors. However, I would like to add a few caveats: 1) The AI or algorithm that they use SOUNDS like it's personalized to you, but the conclusions and statements the device makes are based on collected, aggregated, and thoroughly-predigested data. That's not to say its inaccurate, but it's not "personal" in a real sense--the sense that a series of physiological and blood tests would deliver. that would be specific to you. You are more likely to get recos based on standardized data. 2) The app is really busy. There are so many charts and data points and subcategories that it becomes difficult (for me, anyway) to find precisely what I'm looking for. I have to ASK (query) to get to see my running stats, for instance; I can't seem to find them otherwise. 3) The loads of data and so-called personal recos are designed to keep you interested and committed, andf that's basically a good thing, but it's also to hook you into paying an annual fee FOREVER. Compared to a high-end sports watch (Garmin, Suunto, or even Apple) you will be paying ad infinitum for something others offer for free. That said, I've only had my WHOOP for about a month, so I'm expecting a fresh batch of data when I hit the 30-day point, and perhaps I'll find more of it useful when I get there. Right now it's a pleased enough with the info provided, though I do wish it "agreed". more with my watch. Not quite sure whose stats to believe! ***UPDATE*** A few days short of two full months. I DO like their AI; when I correct it ("No that wasn't a run I was digging in the garden / walking the dog") it accepts and adjust response accordingly. Nice. Though I still find the data provided kind of scattered around the site, with no simple menu to help locate something. And WHOOP is OBSESSED with "Strain;" even after reading their explanations I still can't compute their approach. Accuracy still a big ? mark, as it only occasionally matches what my Garmin watch reports. Who to believe?? ... show more

  • Best Fitness Tracker for Recovery, Sleep, and Daily Performance
Style: Life
’ve been really impressed with WHOOP. It gives so much more insight than a basic fitness tracker, especially when it comes to recovery, strain, and sleep quality. I love being able to see how my body is responding to workouts, stress, and daily habits so I can make smarter decisions with training and rest days. The battery life is excellent, and it’s comfortable enough to wear all day and night. The app is easy to use and the coaching insights are actually helpful. If you’re serious about health, fitness, or optimizing performance, this is absolutely worth it. ... show more

  • ***EDITED**** Not Quite JUNK - In My Humble opinion
Style: Life
***Updating to 4 stars*** After wearing this every day since I received it (approaching 3 weeks) - and initially being really negative due to the lack of available 'real time' data, I have grown to appreciate the insights it provides. It does utilize a LOT of data to come up with its analysis of your health. If you don't want that - but would rather have a conglomeration of real-time data that you can look at - and work to make sense of on your own, there are plenty of devices out there for that. The approach here is more about gathering lots of data to create more accurate readings over time. Which - ultimately, is what matters. It matters more than 'one moment in time' type readings of bp, RHR, etc. The access to data on this thing is so restricted, I've resorted to using a cuff to read my BP (always lower than their "estimate"). It DOES have the data - WHOOP choses not to show you the actual data for fear of being sued I suppose. Further, I just did an elliptical workout. The elliptical I used has its own heart monitor. This device showed my live heart rate (using the activity feature) at a consistently MUCH lower rate than the elliptical. I realize the elliptical is likely not terribly accurate either. However, right after my workout, I took an ECG reading with this WHOOP device, and yet, IT showed my heart rate as 20 BPM HIGHER than what it showed during my live workout session. This device may be for you if you want a bunch of suggestions on how to improve your health, but, if you have a simple plan, and just want access to real-time data, there are myriad devices available for a LOT less money that will do exactly that, for 1/3rd the price of this junk. I don't need any fancy analysis. If I really want some analysis, I'll use the multitude of free tools available on the internet to help guide me. I'm sending this thing back as soon as my replacement arrives. Worthless to me. I gave it 2 stars ONLY because it does have some decent data insights (providing the data is any good - which is suspect at least in my case). I'd just like to add, if I wanted to constantly check my BP using a cuff, I NEVER would have bought this stupid thing... If you want to look at your blood pressure readings throughout the day to come up with an average, this device is most certainly not for you. If you'd like to trust the data, I'd also suggest some other device. ... show more
