First and foremost, when you get this keyboard or hook up any keyboard to a Samsung device, install and switch your keyboard over to the Google Keyboard (gboard) or when you hold shift and hit the space bar it won't register the space since that's a really dumb shortcut for changing languages on the Samsung keyboard. I'm writing this review from this tablet keyboard. I was using a third party solution before, and finally just decided to dive in and grab this as I was getting tired of unreliable bluetooth just missing strokes all the time and having to reconnect and I wanted something that would keep my tablet a bit more safe but was also form fitting. After evaluating the market for a while I decided just to buy the first party offering, designed specifically for this tablet and I am very glad I did. This is very sturdy. I use this very comfortably in my lap and it hasn't fallen out at all. Perfect for a laptop replacement. I don't miss having a laptop. The connection is also great, no more missing keystrokes or draining battery for having bluetooth on. Despite the reduced size of the keyboard, I also find myself making minimal mistakes while typing and I got up to mostly full speed rather quickly. The keys feel great to type on, and have a tactile feel that is both soft and springy at the same time. It's not a mechanical keyboard or anything, but it rivals even the nicer laptop keyboards I've tried - I'd compare it to a microsoft surface keyboard. The layout is sane and works well, I'd say ultimately there's fairly little compromises, the only thing that took me a while to get used to is having the apostrophe key (" and ') so small which makes it hard to hit and sometimes I would hit enter when I was typing up a message. Not a huge issue, however, as I got used to that fairly quickly. Everything attaches via magnets, and there's no clips- which is honestly wonderful. I can take my tablet out of the case quickly for some drawing. I also like that I have a place to put the pen, and I no longer need to worry about the tablet getting scratched. I don't personally use screen protectors, but if you do use one, make sure it is glass so the keyboard doesn't scratch the screen. Because of the hardness of gorilla glass, this keyboard will not be able to physically scratch the screen, but if you have a plastic or otherwise screen protector on your tablet, it's possible that the screen will get scratched. Hit the meta key (search button) and / for some neat keyboard shortcuts which will help you navigate a bit better with this attached and be on your way. Fantastic work, Samsung. I am now done writing this review all on this keyboard and I didn't have many screw ups or complaints.

I admit, I was skeptical about ordering this keyboard, it looked so flimsy in the pictures, but I did need one and it was almost half the price than what it was on Samsung's actual website, but now that I have received it, I am completely impressed. First off, it is extremely good quality. The best part is that it sticks to my Tab S3 purely by using magnets, it is amazing. And then I open it and it locks into place and it just works everytime, no need to fiddle around with bluetooth or anything like that. This is so awesome. Typing on it is actually so easy and quick. I am using this keyboard right now to type this review, and I love it. I was able to get used to it right away, and I can type super fast on it without making any mistakes. Like WOW. Honestly, I am so shocked I had no idea it was going to be this good. It is 100% totally worth the money. Plus it is so slim, and makes for an excellent case. It can fold backwards and so I can hold the tablet normaly if I need to, or just remove it super easily without any hasle since it is just magents. But surprisingly the magnets are strong enough to hold up the tablet even if I hold it with the keyboard open and I hold only the tip of the keyboard, but if I want to remove it I simply start peeling it and the magnets let it fall away. All in all, I could NOT be more satisfied with this product. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone with a TAB S3. It is a MUST HAVE. Hope this helps

I bought this in April 2018 and am still using it in Jan 2024, but it's going bad now and I'm looking for a replacement. Considering almost daily use over that many years, I'm pleased with how sturdy it's been. Currently the keys are getting flakey... sometimes have to pound hard to get some to work, or they "stick" and register several keystrokes instead of one. The S Pen holder stick-on seemed very doubtful at first, like an after thought, but it's worked well enough (came loose once or twice, but re-attached OK). Connects to the tablet pins on left side, so it must be used in landscape orientation. No Bluetooth connection required. Typing is pretty natural, even for a small-ish layout. My main gripe is the lack of an opening for the back camera, so if you want to use that you must remove the tablet from the case/keyboard. Minor complaint, though, since I seldom use the camera. Another tiny issue is the light gray color shows dirt and grime pretty badly... Meh. If it weren't for the lack of a camera opening, I'd definitely give this a full 5 stars.

As a previous reviewer has indicated, this is not a laptop keyboard, it is a tablet keyboard. As a tablet keyboard it does a good job. I used several keyboards for my old Samsung Galaxy 5100 which died recently This one is better than any of them. Pros: 1) Good feel to keys 2) Easy to take tablet in or out but it is secure when it is in. 3) Does not use bluetooth so no need to recharge keyboard 4) Has usual Ctrl key short-cuts Cons 1) Does not have function keys 2) Does not have Home, End, Page up or Page down keys 3) Does not come with a user’s booklet with the short-cut keys Keys – although it lacks the keys above it does have short-cut keys which are useful some of which work with some apps and not others. I include some of them here because I had to hunt to find them. The “Meta” key is the lower left key with the magnifying glass (see picture). Meta + / shows most of the Meta short-cuts. Two which are not shown are Meta + X which shuts down the app (comparable to Alt + F4) and Meta + ] gives a split screen. Once you have the split screen Meta + [ and Meta + ] change the size of the splits.
