Top Amazon Reviews

  • A comprehensive review for those "power users" worried about performance vs ipad air
Size: 9.7 Style: Tablet Color: Black
This review is for everyone who reads "tech reviews," understands them and is debating this vs other tablets. I purchased this at best buy as I like the option to make hands on returns and exchanges for service, but I nearly skipped it due to the battery life. Let's he honest, Apple products have a much better setup when it comes to tablets and battery life. Apple tends to optimize everything and the iPad air has a larger battery overall. Still, this tablet has many the selling points that Apple cannot touch. 1. The screen itself is absolutely gorgeous. The pixel density is 320 vs 324 in an iPad air, but your eyes won't notice that seeing as these specs are like megapixels on cameras and generally mean nothing past a certain point. Samsung screens scream color, this one is the same. I purchased an iPad mini and returned it because the colors on the device were washed out vs the note 4 phone I've used since it launched over a year ago. There is something absolutely magical about the screen on this device. 2. Build quality. How it feels in your hands. Samsung has been guilty of shipping absolutely amazing screen/processor devices stuffed with innovative ideas in cheap plastic cases. This device instead uses a metal edge to create a premium feeling device. The back is a soft rubberized feeling plastic that does not have any flex like the nexus 9 tablet (where you can press down on it and it sinks in). It's weight and feel is unparalleled. When you pick it up you realized that it's extreme thin thickness is really special. Almost half a centimeter for those who live here in the USA. That is exceptionally thin. The buttons click, which is good. They extrude so you can find them in any light level, and I still appreciate the Samsung home button on the bottom, whereas most other android devices have gotten rid of physical buttons a long time ago. The only knock is the USB adapter. It isn't in the center, so finding it when it is dark is a pain in the you know what. 3. Cpu/graphics/ram This device is essentially a note 4 with more ram, which is good. It is a slightly newer revision of the hardware which is also good, but it won't be at an iPad air 2 or Nvidia shield in performance. This is fine because first, the iPad air 2 will have restrictions you cannot do that the tab s2 allows (android is super open to customizable tweaks), and the Nvidia shield will not play some games due to the Tegra processor it uses. Some games just crash. This, coupled with a generous 3 gigabytes of ram makes the tab s2 a best in its class in terms of performance. You won't have problems playing games through the end of 2017 and onwards with this, unlike older apple tablets that will become obsolete ad apple updates ios. 4. Battery - my biggest complaint I can't give this 4.5 stars, but battery would do it. Why Samsung chose a smaller battery is obvious. They wanted to he the thinnest and lightest anywhere. This means that you won't have the 2+ days of casual use on an iPad, but let's be real. Firstly, the device made a trade off. This is literally the thinness of a small magazine. It is a concession and you pay for the thin nature in battery life. Secondly, you can use power saving mode which for some reason isn't enabled out of the box pm first startup. Software will help the battery as android marshmallow is launched, and the wifi version of a tablet won't have the delays that phones have with updates because there is no phone carrier adding to and testing software, just Samsung updating. When this gets marshmallow, you'll see a pretty big battery boost as this is a feature of Android marshmallow that Google is pushing, increased battery life on all devices. Lastly, buy a $20.00 powerbank on amazon with more capacity than the tablet has. You can get a 7000 milli amp battery back and always have hours and hours of power on hand if you cannot charge it. That's all I have to say about battery. Overall Review Get this tablet. This is the best non Apple tablet ever put on the market. If you like technology, and want a great feeling, easy to use and future proof device, this will make you happy. If this is helpful to you, please make sure to mark it as a helpful review. Thanks. ... show more

  • Replaced My Laptop (check out my video for key accessories and tips)
Size: 9.7 Style: Tablet Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. Instead of going over specs and comparisons I decided I'd share some of the secondary things that make this fantastic device into more than a "tablet". Take a look at the brief video I made to see how I, with the addition of few inexpensive accessories, was able to get the same if not a bit better (if you take into account size and battery life) productivity from my tab S2 as I did from my laptop. The same laptop which now collects dust in a back room and who's sporadic use is to let me view the one website I still visit that's inexplicably only compatible with Internet Explorer lol. If you're looking for a pc replacement that's not going to downgrade your experience than look no further. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I spent quite a bit of time figuring out what works and what doesn't, and I'm happy to pass it on. ... show more

  • Horrible customer support, not a long term device, totally useless after a year. Samsung says we wont even fix it if you paid us
Size: 9.7 Style: Tablet Color: Black
My first thoughts were that this is a nice tablet. It did all that I wanted it to do and then some. Sleek, powerful and very nice graphics. I used it for just under a year and had a good experience with it. Now fast forward to just shy of a year (like before the warranty ended) that's when I lost respect for Samsung, Samsung customer support and this tablet which I can no longer use. 1 month before the warranty was up I had a reoccurring "battery error " message. It told me to contact Samsung for a replacement device. I contacted them and the rep said he never heard of anything like it. He loaded a program to my tablet, logged into it and saw the message over and over again. He tried some various things and said you need to do a hard reset. Of course, that's the fix for every tablet right. So I did, the problem went away for ... you guessed it 1 month and 2 weeks. Now the battery wont charge at all, I cant connect it to a pc to remove my files from the tablet. So I contacted Samsung tech support again. This is where I lost respect for Samsung. The rep told me yes indeed he saw all the previous notes and is VERY SORRY for me having to deal with this concern. BUT you are now out of warranty, and to add insult to injury he told me flat out. " we are sorry but right now we are NOT accepting any out of warranty repairs at this time" so basically my 500.00 tablet that is just over 1 year old is totally USELESS. and Samsung wont even fix it if I pay for it. How is that even possible. you buy a product that has a problem under warranty and gives you a instructions to do a hard reset, it corrects the problem temporarily and then when it happens again they say sorry its not covered and we wont even fix it if you paid us. Leaving me with a broken tablet that I cant do anything with. NICE. So stay away from this device unless you need a temporary tablet. ... show more
