If you are looking for a high-powered laptop for a reasonable price, this might be a good choice. The screen is magnificent. The fingerprint reader works great. The laptop is blazing fast. The keyboard is large and comfortable to use and includes a numeric keypad. The laptop powers on when the cover is lifted. The backlit keyboard comes on and off based on the ambient room light. It's the lightess and thinnest laptop I've ever seen. Many of these features have been highlighted in other reviews but one that hasn't is the downloadable user's manual. This is by far the best one I've ever seen. It's logically laid out and deals with all the laptop's features as well as key Windows features. Each feature is described and includes step by step instructions on how to access and customize the feature. If you are like me and get overwhelmed by all the customization choices on a Windows laptop, I think you will find the manual to be extremely helpful. Reviewing this a few years down the road. This laptop has held up good. Still has great battery life. I love how thin and lightweight it is. Remarkably, it doesn't get very hot. This is a good buy for someone who wants to be able to run a little bit of everything out there. The display and ultra-portability certainly outweigh any negatives. The touchpad is too big for my liking and can register false clicks but that is the trend the industry is moving in. It is because your palm may be resting on the touchpad itself. Other than that, no issues and blazing fast. The display is unbelievable for the resolution. The only thing I can think that might beat this is the Dell XPS 15" 9510 with 3.5K OLED but that's not even available yet. Highly recommend this unit. It has made my life a little bit easier.     • Great laptop with one important issue

I've been using the laptop for some time, and overall I pretty like it except for one issue that is sure to be a deal breaker for some people. I'll start with the good things first. This laptop is ridiculously light. Even after some time of using, I would still be shocked by how light the laptop is everytime I picked it up. If you will be on the go for most of the time, this machine is perfect. Next up, the keyboard and touchpad. I dont really know how to describe the keyboard feel, but you sure will not be disappointed. as for the touchpad, its ok, nothing spectacular. But the size of the trackpad is very big, allowing for a more comfortable use. I'll give it a pass. One of the best features of this laptop is the screen, but ironically is also what most people would be complaining. The colors of the amoled screen is ridiculous, and it is great for watching movies and other stuff. However, the screen is only a full hd. Although i was hoping for at least a 2k, you know I'm not complaining simply for how good it looks. Ports: I never thought that i would need to label this as an advantage, but it indeed is. This machine packs a HDMI and full size USB-A into the slim body. Not something you see very often today. And now the bad things, and it would say it is not necessarily a design fault, but rather a compromise for having a laptop at this weight. The chassis of the laptop is simply just too soft and thin. Here are some real world problems i face when using the GBP. when i pick up the laptop in a closed orientation, sometimes i could click the trackpad. Yes, from the bottom of the chassis. You also cannot comfortably use it while it is on your lap, cause if you apply to much force on the side the trackpad will also click. Also, when typing, if you press the keys down too hard, you will bend the chassis. So overall would I recommend the Galaxy book Pro? I would say yes, but only if: you are willing to sacrafice some build quality for weight and portablity if you want to stay in the samsung ecosystem and don't find the flexible chassis a big issue. You want a powerful windows ultrabook and portability is absolute top priority. You really like vibrant colors and will be consuming a lot of media on the device. ... show more

I am not a tech wizard by any stretch. I am 78 and have used PC's for 40 years in business applications, now I am retired and spend most of my time on a desktop for various and sundry activities. I wanted a light laptop to mirror what I have on my desktop to have with me for travel and other sundry uses. I have only had this for about 2 weeks and have loaded all of the info that I want to mirror from my desktop and found it easy to do so. The display is gorgeous! It is also plenty fast for my purposes (I'm not a gamer). Of course the battery life hasn't panned out to be not exactly near the top of what is claimed (based on my usage) but is a good 'day's worth'; about 14 hours for me which will work well for having it on my future transatlantic flights without having to plug it in on the airplane (but I probably will anyway). And, if I were still working, it would certainly last all day for meetings and such, and then some to get home and charge. It is super lightweight and I'm very happy that I bought it.. I've become a Samsung fan as I also have the Galaxy 6 tablet and have just ordered a Samsung Galaxy S21 phone. ... show more

I like this Galaxy book because it's light and starts up quickly. I don't need a CD drive.. Biggest issue is poor battery life and power consumption. I leave it plugged in almost all the time, but sometimes it drains the battery to zero even when plugged in ! I've also had an issue with it NOT POWERING UP TWICE now . This issue occurs when the battery is fully charged. The solution is to remove the bottom panel, remove the wire harness to the motherboard (it lifts up vertically) and then replace the wire harness. This shouldn't be happening and I'm hoping that Samsung support will reach out to me to resolve this issue. I've heard terrible things about Samsung support so not looking forward to that process. Another issue is the strange way the mousepad behaves it makes it difficult to navigate without a mouse. ... show more

This laptop has best picture quality of all the 15" sized laptop screens that I have come accross. In terms of "Ultra Definition" my Pro X comes close, and it smokes my I7 Envy Rhyzen 5 and the I5 Pro7+ to pieces in termsof picture quality. I7 Galaxy Book Pro Is a fast machine always starts up without a hiccup and will do that every day for almost 24h on a single charge.     • Dead after two years use

Revised: 07/10/23 I used this daily for over two years. A few glitches in the first 2 months, but until a few weeks ago, I loved this laptop. Lightweight, fast, good battery life... But alas, it is no more. Started randomly restarting, different error messages each time. I finally did a Windows clean re-install. Seemed to work great. For exactly one day. Now continues to freeze or restart every hour or so. I considered buying the latest version of this laptop, but am hesitant since this laptop lasted less time than any other I've owned. Revised: 07/05/21 1. After using about 2 months, have revised review. The screen flickering seems to have resolved itself. Have not noticed it for a month or so. 2. As far as freezing, this issue seems to be related to using the Edge browser only. It can occur when opening multiple tabs. If I use Chrome, Firefox, or Brave, I don't experience the freezes. I do still mostly use Edge, I just limit the tabs I open. 3. Had problems when connecting Razer headset. Mic wouldn't work at all and only mono output. The headset worked on my other computer. Couldn't find answer on Internet, but discovered through a deep dive that the Intel Smart Sound technology drivers were the culprits. I disabled these drivers and the headset worked fine. Haven't seen any other issues related to them being disabled. Summary: I am back to being satisfied with this laptop. Its fast, light, great display, battery lasts long... Keyboard is not the best - keys are "slippery", but am not typing that much anyway. I am still considering getting another for my 92 year old Dad. Oh, and of course, being new tech, it is Windows 11 compatible. Revised: 05/29/21 Laptop completely froze - non responsive keys, mouse, even Ctrl-Alt-Del non functional. Had to turn off and back on. All my windows were recovered at least, but this is concerning. Also noticed some periodic screen flickering. I have not yet used this for any gaming or heavy duty processing - just emails and web surfing so far. About 30 hours usage since new. --- Note there are 2 models - one with touchscreen, one without. The Galaxy Book Pro does not have a touchscreen. I currently have a laptop with a touchscreen and found I used this feature very rarely. It always seemed awkward on a laptop sized screen. I use my tablet when I want/need to use this capability. I've only had this Galaxy Book Pro a couple days, but so far am pleased with it. Amazing how light it is. And so far my downloads, internet work, and Office applications are performing better than any previous computer I've had (and I've had a lot.) Screen is clear and bright. Sound is good. For my go to, everyday computing needs, I rate this 5 stars. I may even purchase one for my 90+ year old Dad who spends much of his day web surfing. :) ... show more
