  • Flagship Features at a Feasible Finance
The Samsung Galaxy A71 is the top of the line of Samsung's A-Series phones, and boy does it live up to that title. Let me first say I previously had a Samsung Galaxy A20, which was a really good phone for the price, but I desired more. The A71 has some really good qualities that are a welcome surprise at the price point. Let me start off with the design: The Galaxy A71 is an all plastic build, but do not be scared away by this fact. The plastic back has a really good feel in the hand and has a psychidelic glow in bright conditions. It feels really sturdy in the hand, yet it is slippery like glass (a case is highly recommended). Moving on, you get some cool things that are even forgotten on the flagships. You get a headphone jack! Yup you heard me! I do not care how many people say headphone jacks are extinct; so many audio devices still use 3.5mm and are really good quality. A nice plus when you need that Aux control. The fingerprint sensor is under the display! Its pretty solid, not the fastest but once you get used to it, it works flawlessly. Always on Display! Love having this and coming from a cheap phone it is real nice to see my notifications and the time without turing the screen on. You get 25W fast charging, which the power brick for this charging speed is actually included in the box! Super happy with the charging speeds. No dual speakers, to be expected at a midrange price. The single bottom firing speaker is loud and gets the job done. The display is by far the most enticing factor of the phone. You get a big, bright, crisp 1080p OLED display that is really nice to look at (I am definitely a pixel peeper, on my A20 I noticed individual pixels a lot. Not the case with this phones display). No notch aswell! Only the non intrusive hole punch cutout which is really great compared to a teardrop notch. The battery is great. But do not only look at numbers. Sure it is a 4500mah battery but keep in mind the big high quality display will drain a little battery especially at high brightness. Still a wonderful battery performer though. The cameras are good. 64MP shots look great and crisp. Ultrawide cam is good, definitely better than A20. Depth sensor is a depth sensor. It works. Macro cam is meh. Not really impressed w the macro mode. Needs a really specific distance from the subject so a point and shoot isnt really possible which could cause problems if you need the shot instantly. Selfie cam is fine and will suit your needs! All cameras SUFFER in low light. With lots of light these cameras have unlimited potential. Video surprised me. 4K video on the main cam is really nice! Smooth and crisp. Night mode is ok. Not Google Pixel level but still good to have. Processing and overall speed is amazing. SD 730 chip and 6gb of ram is plenty for the average user. Gaming is still possible but do keep your expectations realistic. Ships with Android 10. As far as accessories included you get the 25w super fast charger like stated before, which is awesome to see. You get a clear case which is awesome aswell. Free protection! Pre installed screen protector comes with, it will get you by just fine. Has Samsung headphones, not AKG but not the cheap crap ones either. Sounds good and has inline controls. Overall the A71 is amazing so far for the price. Such a different experience from cheap phones, you feel like a valued customer who actually gets some useful features in your phone without breaking the bank. Highly highly recommend this phone to anyone with a lower end A-Series Samsung or any older crappy android, while not wanting a 1000 dollar phone. Join the wave of big screens and lots of cameras, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth it. Happy, happy, happy!
Color: Prism Crush Black Size: 128GB + 64GB SD + Case Bundle
I came from an aging S9 to this, and I'm incredibly happy with the switch. I actually did use the Pixel 4a for about a week, but I ended up selling it due to Google widgets working inconsistently, as well as weak audio quality/low volume through headphones (big con for me). I had almost decided to wait for the new S21 or to grab a discounted S20, but then I started to wonder...why? Higher refresh rate, Samsung Pay, wireless charging, cutting-edge cameras, 5G...those things don't matter to me (not yet, at least). I'd much rather have a headphone jack than stereo speakers, if I can't have both, as I almost always listen to music and videos through old-school wired headphones. One feature I really didn't want to give up is Dolby Atmos -- I don't use it for music, but it's become a must-have feature for ASMR videos (yep, I'm one of those weirdos). Thankfully, the A71 also has Atmos. So basically, I'm enjoying the same great audio quality through headphones as I did with the S9, without having to buy a USB-C adaptor for my headphones (as I would have done with a new S-series device), and without having to download and experiment with third-party audio enhancer apps (as I did with the Pixel 4a). I just need my phone to do all the basic phone stuff, run my relatively few apps smoothly, take decent pictures & videos, store tons of content, and let me enjoy music and other audio the way I like. The A71 checks all the required boxes for me and a lot more, for much less money than the current and upcoming S devices. It absolutely feels like an upgrade from my S9. It is a large phone, obviously, but I've found that the larger size is easier to type on and enhances my productivity, overall. The glimmering plastic back looks fantastic, too! As far as the in-screen fingerprint reader goes, it works as well as any other fingerprint reader I've had. It has its hits and misses. With this one, at least I don't have to worry about the paint chipping off the fingerprint sensor (which is what happened with my S9). About this bundle: The phone came with the soft clear case (inside the Samsung packaging) and 64GB SD card as advertised. The case is fine, but the SD card is off-brand and wasn't in a sealed package. Just to be safe, I purchased a name-brand SD card separately. And yes, the phone DID come with a film screen protector already installed right out of the box! Network: I'm on AT&T prepaid and have a consistent 4G LTE connection. No issues. ... show more

  • pretty great mid grade phone. BUT...
I fell into this phone because my pixel 3 was severely damaged and I wasn't ready to shell out another grand for a nice phone. This phone is great if you're looking for something better than a budget, and not wanting to throw down for a flagship device. It looks premium, the screen is bright, and has great viewing angles. Something you should expect from Samsung. However, there are a few things about it that bother me: 1. the fingerprint sensor works great... about 70% of the time 2. the camera suuucks in low light, or even indoor lighting. and it is very slow. 3. the phone can lag 1. The fingerprint sensor under the glass is neat and all, but the number of times it won't recognize my fingerprint can be infuriating. it doesn't always do it, but when it does it refuses to work. 2. The camera looks incredible outdoor in good daylight, however it starts to have issues indoors and in low light. it has to bump its "ISO" on the sensor really high, really early so you get grainy, dull images. The other thing that is even more frustrating to me is how slow the camera is to open, and focus at times. The number of moments I've missed of my 3-year-old doing silly things is depressing. Luckily my wife has a pixel so she always gets the good shots. 3. It tends to lag sometimes and apps tend to open slowly if you have too much going on. Part of it is my fault for not always closing apps, the other part is the phone—because on other devices I wouldn't have the same amount of lag with the number of apps open. I would recommend this phone to someone, with the caveat that you might be disappointed with the photos being taken. It's a solid phone that gives you a general flagship feel without the flagship price tag. ... show more
