  • Lovely device!
I needed to replace my old samsung J3 that I owned as a student. It really was all I could have afforded at the time. While it helped to fill a gap, it had its limitations in terms of memory and storage, but that is for another review. I unboxed and setup my new A51 last night and I must say I'm in love. It has a sleek body, feels lighter than the J3 and although its only a few hours since I've been using it, I'm very imporessed. I seemlessly transferred my info from the old to the new device using Smart Switch. I've also managed to add some apps that I was unable to have given the limited capacity of my old phone. So far, so good. No hitches nor glitches. I got the blue one which is absolutely beautiful! I'd read complaints about the OS being in Spanish, but upon initial startup you're asked which language is your preferred language and the options are many. The only drawback why I've given it 4 stars and not 5 is that the battery life is a little disappointing. I fully charged it when I received it and in less than 24 hours the battery was down to 62%. Howeever, this may be due to the fact that I used it for a 2 hour Skype meeting this morning. (I wasn't able to have the Skype app among others on my old phone, so now I have greater flexibility, already!) It also comes with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Good for those of us who are now working frrom home or are on the go every now and again. I will provide an update later. I would definitely recommend it as it is a good price - good value for money and has a dual sim feature for those who are so interested. ... show more

  • worth the money paid
Ordered this phone as a replacement for my old galaxy. I honestly wasn't expecting much with the wide range of reviews, but figured that it would be worth a shot for the price given. Very much worth it. Phone arrived quickly, and securely packaged. I was a bit suprised opening it up, since the phone was literally new-in-box. Factory sealed with all the acessories. No evidence of it being used and resealed at all; no scratches, no port wear, no body damage, no speaker blowout... This is most definitely a one-off sort of thing, and based off the other reviews you should not expect your phone to be new in box if you order as well. The following was included for me: - clear thin phone case - basic plastic screen protector - small screen cleaning cloth - samsung headphones - usb charge block & approriate cord - warranty booklet/paperwork, Phone manual & setup guide The phone itself works wonderfully, with no issues. Its hefty enough processor-wise to do just about anything you'll need, provided that you arent trying to work with heavy duty tablet apps or similar things. The cameras are lovely, and a notable upgrade from the quality of my old phone. I havent played around with them much yet, but they seem pretty decent for the price paid. The fingerprint reader is built right into the screen, but only stores 3 prints at a time. The face recognition is handy, and will recognise you with or without glasses 🤓 The face recognition will also work in low-light (but not dark) conditions. Battery life is phenominal. I'm a heavy user, and have my phone playing music via. youtube or spotify for my entire 8-12 hour work shift with additional apps open in the bg for ease of notifications & quick switching. Even with my heavy use, I have upwards of 40-50% of my battery left by 6pm. With standard use, you get closer to 30 hours of battery life. Even longer if you minimally use your phone & put it in power saving. Just a note; my phone was made in and initially region-set to mexico, but you can change that during setup. just make sure you have all your defaults set correctly, since it may not be what you need. Since the phone was unlocked, I had no issues on my end with setting it up and getting it connected. It did take a while for my service to get transfered over, but that was on my providers end and had nothing to do with the phone itself. ... show more

  • Great phone, no issues, works in the US on Metro
Everything about this phone is great! It works perfectly fine in the US on Metro by t-mobile. The default language is Spanish but you can easily put it to English during the start up. The fingerprint scanner works fine for me as well as the facial recognition. The only downside is that the blue light filer doesn't work on the lock screen due to the fingerprint sensor being on screen (I found this out online) but its not a big deal. I love this phone! It comes with a screen protector already on plus a basic clear case, charger, & headphones with a mic. ... show more

  • Latin American version with only 4 GB, not 6 GB
It's a great phone. I took out my Verizon SIM card from my old phone, inserted it into the new phone, and it started right up and connected me to Verizon just fine. I had to use the SmartSwitch to get all of my apps transferred, but that worked well. The language defaulted to Spanish, but it was simple to set it to English. The spacebar on the keyboard says Espanol even though it types fine in English. It's annoying, but...meh. Maybe I can install a new keyboard. The Settings say the phone was made by Disenado y Desarrollado por Samsung. Though I set the language to English, much of the Samsung Members app is in Spanish, and it doesn't look like it can be changed. Guess I won't be using that much. If I'd known so much of it was going to be in Spanish I'd not have ordered this. I checked just now and my local Best Buy has the same phone for about the same price. I don't know if it has 6 GB of RAM, but I'm fairly certain it isn't the International version. Still, there's really nothing wrong with the phone. It works just fine in the U.S., even on Verizon. If I could just get rid of all traces of Spanish I'd be happy. It feels like I'm using a stranger's phone... ... show more
