  • Fantastic screen, 1 down from flagship model
Size: 75 in
I replaced a 10 year old 65" plasma. This sits further back and has a significantly thinner bezel (mm vice inches). Off, it only looks a bit larger. On, and the 1/3 larger screen makes itself known! CORONA crazy, so streaming services are reducing resolution... the inputs are on the right side of the tv, 5' further from my A/V rack. I should have longer and higher bandwidth hdmi cables here within a couple days. Then I can really see what the 75" q800t is capable of. I was tempted to buy the 2019 90 series, but I felt the extra green was worth paying for the hdmi 2.1 inputs. 2020 was a good year for TVs. I hope to own this one 10 years like my old plasma. Final note for now, I really like the remote and I'm digging the interface. Update I've now watched several HDR 4k discs and found a few 4k movies to stream, like Trolls 2 last night. Best family movie night yet. Bigger is better. The bump from1080p to 4k is quite noticeable in my front row. The HDR is... probably even more impressive than the resolution upgrade. I feel like HDR is the next generation of Darbee. Anyone remember that? I have it on my oppo blu ray player and it makes colors pop. When there's something shiny on screen... it's so bright. I may unplug my roku. This tv does practically everything itself. For kicks, the coaxial input is hooked up to my circa 1995 atari jaguar, heh. The lil ones are having a blast with my old games. I am having a blast with 4k HDR!!! Only drawback, the box was too big to get into my attic so I had to make room in the garage. That is a drawback I can happily live with. Update #2; 11 SEP 2020 Wow, I feel bad for the consumers who had bad experiences. I've got a couple degrees in Optics so I know a bit about what is capable of being observed by the human eye. My TV has continued to be flawless. The more I tinker with it, the more options/capabilities I uncover. I may have small regrets on getting the 75" instead of the 82", but that was a $2k price difference in the spring! As I said, it's noticeably bigger than the 65" Panasonic I replaced. This set exceeds the plasma in every possible way. Now it's time to go from 7.2 to adding 4 ceiling atmos channels!!! I don't deserve my wife. She's an angel Oh, I also bumped my trusty ole Denon X4000 up to a new 2020 X3700. At the time, Denon, only, supported hdmi 2.1 8k with their AVRs. There may be more now, but I love the familiarity of the new Denon. It powers my 4 surrounds. A 60ish pound Emotiva 3 channel handles my front sound stage. I picked up another Emotiva amp to handle the four ceiling Atmost speakers. No doubt over kill, but that's what hobbies are for! ... show more

  • Future Proof 8K Display
Seeing 4k starting to be the norm, good to future proof yourself with an 8K display with 120hz refresh rate . My main use for this is for gaming (which will not reach 8K anytime soon), but will have 4k with 120hz refresh rate on Xbox Series X and PS5. 8K movies as of right now (2021) is not quite mainstream yet. Picture quality is very good, best I've seen in home entertainment system right now. Once your eyes get adjusted, 1080 (and maybe 4K) looks pixelated like watching tube tvs when 1080p TVs became the norm. TV speaker volume is higher quality than other TVs, able to hear from distance at mid volume, but I'd still recommend installing surround sound speakers for full theatrical experience Able to use voice assistant with remote. Options are Bixby, Alexia (Amazon) and Google Assistant. Can use TV for streaming services without plugging in steaming device like Roku, Amazon Fire stick, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, Video game consoles and other 3rd party devices. When using streaming service; you don't input log in/password onto the TV, instead you must register with other device with same wifi network. Once the TV recognizes it for the first time, you don't have to worry about it in the future (unless you cancel your plan or want to register new account) Physical setup requires at least 3 able bodied people. Stand is a bit small, but still hold up the TV well. I personally opted for wall mount (sold separately) Controls are easy to use and menus easy to navigate Having a really good experience with this TV, no issues, no complaints ... show more

  • Dirty Screen Effect
Size: 75 in
If you haven’t heard of “Dirty Screen Effect” you will become very acquainted with it if you buy this TV. DSE (dirty screen effect) is a splotchiness on the back side of the TV screen (the part you could not clean even if you wanted to). It is most noticeable in scenes with all one color like a bright blue sky or a cartoon with a white or yellow background. It makes the image look like it was filmed with a dirty lens. If you do get this TV, you may get lucky and the DSE will be on a part of the screen that you do not care about. The TV I received has DSE mostly in the upper corners with a few splotches in the middle. I was angry when I got the TV, and called Samsung customer service which was pretty much useless. Samsung arranged for a tech to come out and at the last minute the tech changed their mind and skipped the appointment (bottom line, we got stood up). I called customer service again and they apologized – that is when their rep flat out admitted to me that Amazon would provide better customer service. He was right! For a $3000 TV, not worth it. And having researched this, the DSE issue is like a game of chance, some TVs will have it bad and some not so bad. Why play roulette with a TV that has 50/50 shot (at best) at a screen with DSE when you could just get a better one? My advice, steer clear. Without the DSE issue the picture is brilliant, as is the up conversion to 8K. That’s why I gave two stars and not one. --- Fast Forward 2 years: The TV started glitching (audio would drop down to 0 by itself, picture presets reset themselves), and then it finally happened... the TV simply died. Less than 3 years!!! I was told that it would cost $2100 to fix it. No thanks. My next TV (which I will order today) WILL NOT BE A SAMSUNG. ... show more

  • Great picture but over priced.
Size: 75 in
Great picture quality is any light and movie playing but Disney and Peacock apps will not play on TV. Samsung states it is the apps and both company's are stating it is the TV. Unable to resolve the issue.
