Tv still looks great after 2 years

  • Incredible TV With a few Quirks
Size: 55-Inch Style: TV Only
First off I was incredibly lucky to pick this up on the fourth of July sale for $400 off (making it the lowest price its ever been so far at $1800) At first I was actually pretty disappointed because the way the TV ships at default settings doesn't look very good at all. after turning off all power saving settings it made it significantly brighter however it still wasn't what I would consider the most color accurate, the colors are far too vivid so after adjusting all of my settings it looks incredible. QD-OLED is a pretty big step forward. I was watching a couple high quality movies on this TV as well as my old Samsung NU8000 TV I bought 4-5 years ago and while it is certainly a lot better it definitely made me think reviewers were overhyping this tv just a bit. S95B is maybe 10-20% brighter with much deeper blacks colors really pop as well but I definitely still think my old TV looked good especially for being less than half the price new 5 years ago. Gaming is pretty incredible as well but be prepare to spend a lot of money on an HDMI cable (I spent $70 on a best buy brand) in order to get all the functionality this tv has to offer, I'm talking about 4k 120hz 12 bit HDR10+ I've played a bit of PS5 games with VRR and it looks and feels pretty good. I've also used my PC with an RTX 3080 Ti and its a pretty decent experience too (once you fiddle with windows and HDR a bit + Nvidia Control Panel as these setting will not be chosen by default) One problem I had that I noticed a lot is how the screen gets cut off which is a tad annoying and distracting, this is actually a setting in panel care that is called pixel shift (it's quite extreme in preventing burn in but because of this its very noticeable) I've watched a lot of content varying from 480P to 8K on this and the upscaler is fine at 480P but at 1080p and above is where it shines looks far closer to 4K at 1080p and above (Sony wins here imo) Overall this panel will require a lot of fiddling around in settings and learning this inferior TIZEN OS to get things good but for nearly half the cost of the Sony QD-OLED I cant really complain and still really love this TV. hoping it'll last me at least another 5 years or longer. ... show more

  • BUY THE INSURANCE!!!! TV DIED ONE MONTH AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED
Size: 55-Inch Style: TV Only
TV was fine, until it wasn't. BUY INSURANCE!!! I initially had no complaints upon first receiving the TV, though I was not blown away by any means as I was expecting to be. My prior TV wasn't even a 4K, just a 65" Vizio 1080i HGTV that honestly I felt like had a nicer picture. I was expecting to be WOW'd when I got this fancy 4K, but really the difference was minimal. I think I was trying to convince myself telling my friends and wife, 'Aren't these blacks so deep? Isn't this a beautiful pic?" and everyones just like, 'Yeah, its nice, i guess." Point is, it was nothing spectacular. BUt it worked, and for about one year I didn't have any regrets and was happy with the TV. I got the TV in early February 2022, and on a random Monday night in March 2023 when I went to bed the TV just decided to die in its sleep. That was that. Out of warranty. So will I get this TV again - no. Fool me once Samsung, shame on you.... (y'all know the rest) SO GLAD I SPRUNG FOR THE ASURIAN 3 YEAR INSURANCE!!!! I'm usually the guy who knows better than to pay for "extended manufacturer warranties" and things like that. They're systematically a scam. But SO GLAD my wife insisted we spring for the insurance on this TV despite my arguing her on it. In my 45 years I've never needed to cash in on an insurance policy before but Thank God I had it when I needed it this time. As an aside, what I can't say enough great things about however is that I am sooo glad (at my wife's prodding) that I bought the extended insurance on this TV from Asurian (I usually never buy extended warranties or insurance with good reason [most are b.s., I have insider knowledge on this having used to sell extended warranties for a living). As mentioned, my TV died for no apparent reason exactly one month after the manufacturers warranty expired. Until then the morning of its timely death however this TV was fine. I wans't blown away by it like some of the reviews, but certainly no complaints. I'm an Apple Household so I never really bothered playing around much with the functionality of using the Samsung OS apps/settings as I always used an Apple TV 4K and everything was great... right up until the day it wasn't. Again, after a normal day/evening watching it, we went to bed around 10:30 PM per usual on a Monday night, then when we woke up Tuesday morning our beloved TV was dead. Gonzo. It Died in it's sleep, I guess? It must have been peaceful, because as I mentioned, it NEVER had a single issue prior to tip us off that something was wrong. It just decided it didn't want to power on anymore. The End. I attempted trouble-shooting with all the tricks i could find on the internet (scouring the Samsung Forums/Google/Reddit, et al.) The TV appeared completely dead. Finally after a couple days of trouble shooting I called Asurian and filed my insurance claim. The claim process was easy-peasy. A Five Min phone call. Basically they told me they'd be sending a technician to my house to trouble-shoot the TV and I'd be contacted within a week. Honestly, THAT was the most frustrating part — thinking I was going to have to be without a main TV in the living room for a week before someone even came out to look at it. But the very next day I get an email from Asurian saying, "Sorry. We can’t find a tech in your area (surprising because I live in Seattle, WA. A City! It's not like I'm in some bodunk rural wasteland where technicians would be hard to find. I live within ten miles of three electronic repair shops) so we are issuing you a refund for your purchase. No deductible or anything out of pocket. I immediately had a $1497.00 Gift Card issued to my AMAZON account and was online buying a new TV. The process was so simple. Now I kind of want to take my TV in to a repair shop myself and see if I can get it repaired for a couple hundred bucks. If that works out it will be like I got a new TV for the cost whatever the repair is. Anyway, the moral of the story is Highly recommend springing for the insurance. I'm a changed man. Asurian 4 lyfe. (They should pay pay me for this glowing review!) ... show more
