  • Too expensive
Yeah it works fine. Our keyboard player is happy, but just too much $$ for what it is.

  • So Far, It's Great For The Price
I picked this up as a replacement for my auxiliary percussion microphone stand. Basically I needed a boom stand to get the mic angled over towards me and something sturdy enough to support an LP761 percussion table that I attach to the upper part of the base section. I went with the Samson BT4 as it has the required elements, an appealing price, and qualified for free 2-day shipping through Amazon Prime. I've used it for a couple of gigs and it seems reliable and solid so far. I use a Shure PG81 Condenser which is a very lightweight mic. It is supported with no issues and the boom section can be adjusted to put it anywhere within its reach and hold it there steadily with the help of a counterweight (uncommon on a stand at this price point). Also, the percussion table weighs 8-10 pounds when loaded up and that hasn't effected the stands stability at all. My only problem with the stand is purely speculative. The boxes that house the length adjustment assemblies (particularly at the base and the thicker end of the boom section) might not be as heavy duty as I'd like. As you're cranking down the screws, they don't really stop securely when tightened sufficiently as you would notice on a professional stand. They definitely provide enough closure to secure your adjustments, it just seems that you would be able to strip them out if you kept tightnening. I of course will not test this and break anything on purpose, but I wouldn't be surprised if it became an issue down the road. Overall, this stand is a fantastic value at this price point and is clearly of higher quality than others that I have paid significantly more for in the past. If and when anything goes wrong with it down the road, I will update the review. ... show more

  • Can't support microphone weight no matter how hard you tighten the knobs.
Pictures included to support my criticisms. I imagine this would work VERY well if I only intended on using it standing up, with the mic aimed directly up. I tested this with both a Shure SM7B Vocal Dynamic Microphone, Cardioid and a CAD Large Diaphragm Supercardioid Condenser and they both toppled the arm with relative ease. Since I'm not a stage performer, I suspect this wasn't the intent, but then again I should have known better since the word "sturdy" isn't in the product description. I wanted a proper stand to help free up space on my desk from the On Stage DS7200B Adjustable Desk Microphone Stand, Black I currently use. I tried having the stand bend 90 degrees so my mic can sit closely to my face, but the stand bends with gravity until my mic is laying on my desk. Even after tightening the knobs until my fingers and thumb turned red with pain, it wouldn't stay still. Incredibly frustrating. The little knob at the end that they call a "counterweight" weighs absolutely nothing and doesn't do jack. The only way to keep the stand stable is to not extend the mic too much, but that's not why I bought a stand. The legs are also very unreliable. They don't have any kind of knob to fasten their position and keep it at a fixed height. The knob on the bottom only dictates whether or not the length of the mic touches the floor or raises up. The legs themselves seem to dangle loosely, meaning if you don't have something the rubber feet can grab (I use carpet so it wasn't a big problem), they'll simply slide until the legs are extended all the way, just like in the product image. Cannot recommend if you use a microphone with a shock mount or really ANY weight to it. I'm going to bring the mic to a local music shop and see if I can't try one out in person because this is a nightmare to shop for. Flimsy stand for the price, very disappointed. ... show more

  • Seems Cheap
The stand is sturdy and holds a compressor mic well so far. When I initially took it out of the box the telescoping arm fell off. The plastic box holding it in place to the other metal tubing had come off. I shoved it back on, but it leaves me a little nervous holding an expensive mic through the magic of friction on the boom. The two plastic boxes around the boom is a bit off putting, making for a cheaper appearance. Time will tell how it holds up. ... show more

  • Great product, even greater customer service
I had a few of these that we use at my church, and needed a couple more. The mic stand itself is very sturdy and seems like a solid piece of equipment. However, what I also wanted to highlight was the level of customer service you will receive from Samson. I inquired about spare parts and how can I order them. I needed a certain screw for some of the older mic stands as they went missing. Samson promptly responded asking me how much I needed and where to ship them. They arrived within the next week at no charge. I don't know if these come with a warranty or something, but I was pleasantly surprised that it went down this way. It was just an added bonus to an already great experience with the company. ... show more
