  • The absolute best boot at this price point.
Just recently purchased, 8/25, what is my 5th pair of these boots. The first pair I bought was way back in 2016, and I have never been disappointed. After many miles hiking over all types of terrain, hills, steep hilly spurs and draws, rocky areas, etc., just like anything else, these boots will wear out. However, starting with the first pair, regarding the toe box, after tightening the laces, cramped, and squeezed, the ball of my feet and my toes, and made walking/hiking a bit unconformable. So I modified the lacing pattern. I pulled the laces off and re-laced without running the laces through the first eyelets. This change gave all the space and freedom my feet/toes needed at the front of the boot, from the ball of my feet to the toes, without any pressure from being laced in that location. This makes the boot perfect and absolutely comfortable and very secure on one's feet. I use the added length of the laces, from not going through the first eyelets, and double wrap them around the ankle and tongue which gives added support and a much smaller tied knot so the lace doesn't flop around. For me, in my experience, there is no need to fully lace the boot up to the highest hook eyelets. Stopping at the first hook eyelet and double wrapping the lace around the ankle, cinching them nice and tight, gives very sufficient and secure support. In addition, not using the first eyelets greatly reduces the pressure from stressing the sides being pulled tight which might cause any delamination from the sole, which, from reading come of the comments, has happened to some users. I guess it depends on the width of the ball area ones foot. I average about 1200 to 1600 miles a year hiking wearing these boots while wearing a 60lb weight vest in addition to about a loaded 40lb backpack, on my 6'1" 195lb body. These boots hold up extremely well under all that weight. With excellent tread for uphill traction, as well as very good control downhill traction. The laces are similar to para-cord in strength and durability, (never ever had one break), and will hold tight keeping your feet securely ensconced. I wear full length athletic compression socks when hiking, which by their nature are thin. So my 11.5 sized boots are a perfect glove fit. If you are going to wear a thicker sock, your best bet is to order these boots by .5 larger to compensate for the added sock thickness. I've never had a boot failure, but as said, they, as everything else, will wear out with heavy use. I don't throw out the old boots. Instead I use them when doing things where their treatment, whether they get damaged or not, is not a concern. Pictures of old boot laced my way, and the newest boot laced my way. Notice the tied lace is just enough as to not flop around or to possibly get snagged by anything while hiking. Oh, and these boots are quality made in India. ... show more

  • Chronic Plantar Fasciitis, Bye-Bye!
Really fantastic, and this with my Theragun has reinvented what I can do. Hiking, here I come! After a year, the back has frayed a bit and causes blisters, so I wear them with my darn tough socks, which I recommend as well. But speaking of tough, I wore these all over the mountains and they look new! After a year! Beautifully built, will purchase again when these fall to bits. ... show more

  • 31 month and still in good condition
I used it three to four days a week and occasionally when I go for hiking. I'm very happy with them.

  • Quality
I really, really like these boots. Comfortable, water resistant, lightweight, strong. Please note a problem with the sizing though. I had to return a regular width pair and get a wide version— and I do not wera wides with any other shoe. Still, get a pair that fits and they are great boots.

  • Buenas botas
En particular he tenido varias Salomón pero estás Salomón no fueron tan duraderas como lo esperaba. Creo que es una línea un poco más de baja calidad de lo que pueden ser unas element

  • Perfit fit. Ordered the same as my shoe size, but ultra wide and perfect it is.
This is my third pair of Salomons and hope to get the long millage I have from the others. The other two pair wore out at around 1,000 miles of walking each. I have only had these for less than a month so can't comment on that aspect. The fit however is much better. The last two pairs I bought were standard width and I had to go up a half size, from my street shoe size to get the width I needed at the toes. This of course made them a tad to long, leading to a few black and blue toe nails even with a piece of styrofoam placed in front of the toes. I have done 5 hikes with them so far, the longest only being 13 miles and the shortest 5. They held my feet perfectly. No bashing of the toes on the downhill tread or mashing together of the toes. I am very happy with them at this point and am pretty confident they will last as long as the others, because the construction is very similar. If you have wider feet. This model may be just the fit you are looking for. ... show more

  • Great boots for my moderate occasional hiking
I live in a region right at sea level and very flat. However , I occasionally go other places to hike. I also need better stability at times on walking excursions in my region. These boots meet my needs very well. Knowing I had an extended vacation that included a lot of hiking and walking in mountainous territory, I purchased these three months in advance so I could break them in. No need - from the minute I put them on they were flexible, comfortable and I walked three miles day one without any issues. I love the stability they add for my ankles in all kinds of walking or hiking. I’ve been wearing them on my daily walks and other walking activities since I bought them. They performed wonderfully on the mountain hiking I did on my trip. As to sizing, I am a female with big feet and wear 11.5 W shoes if I can find them (which is rare). For years shoe fittings for athletic shoes and boots have resulted in women’s sizes not fitting at all so I have to wear men’s. With this in mind I ordered the men’s 11.5 and they fit me perfectly. No pinching in the toes; just right snugness around and under my heels; no shifting around on my feet while walking but no tight feeling to the width either. The ankle support was excellent as long as I tied them snugly before starting out. A worthwhile buy that meets my needs perfectly. ... show more
