I think this product is a best value for most who do what I do. I have steep slopes to maintain and I like to hike moderate terrain. The support and traction are great. Worth every penny above the $50 sneaker. Do not hesitate to buy. I also have a wider and flat feet that fit and never had an arch complaint. I use a hose to clean the soles and it is better than most because of more open groves. Pay extra and be happy. Cheap sneaks are good for store shopping but you need this to not fall like I have done with other products.

I took a chance because I always like to try my shoes on in the store. But the price and brand name were enough for me to bite. These shoes are amazingly well fitting. Yes the tongue is a bit small but then again it doesn't bunch up and pinch the top of my foot. Like virtually every shoe, the factory insoles are garbage. I buy high end insoles and these shoes are the third home for mine. These fit wonderfully, are light and breathable, and hopefully I can get at least six months of life from them. I wear them daily in my work as a carpenter and handyman. As of now, I plan on buying a second pair.

And one walk into their lifetime I gotta say: Why have I been buying cheap crappy shoes for so many years?? These shows are my first foray into spending real money on a pair of shoes. I know, Iknow... they are only a hundred bucks, but I am a cheap skate. Well, consider this money well spent. They are stylish, comfortable and well fitting. I am a size 10, and these size 10's fit just right. I am so happy with my purchase... I walk about 30 miles a week, so this makes it a pleasure.

These are dynamic as they give the support needed and keep your feet dry. Appearance is as shown and is a classy looking shoe. My husband is a teacher and he can wear these all day in comfort. Wearing these when it’s wet out from rain or snow, you can count on the durability.

I've had several versions of the X-Ultra series. The Pioneers are less expensive that other versions, but still fit great and appear to be well made.

I have had this pair of shoes just over 6 weeks and they have already failed. I pulled on the strings to tighten them and one of the loops failed. Don’t make the mistake that I made and think that others that have had the same issue pulled too tight. I pulled just slightly and the loop pulled out of the stitching. It is either a design flaw or poor quality control. I now have a nearly new $100 pair of shoes that is worthless. This was my first, and last, Salomon purchase. January 9, 2024, UPDATE: I really cannot change my rating to anything above my original 1 star; however, I need to update the review to commend Salomon for their warranty service. Since the shoes were outside the return date for Amazon, I contacted Salomon directly. I had to submit through their website several pictures to show the problem and demonstrate that the shoes had not been abused. Further, I had to provide proof of purchase and submit some of the manufacturing numbers from the shoes. I received an automated reply immediately and an agreement to replace the shoes under warranty within a couple of days. Instead of just sending me a replacement pair, I was given a credit to use to purchase another pair directly from Salomon. The credit was more than I originally paid for the shoes so I upgraded to another model; however, I had the option to use the credit to purchase the same model. While I still cannot recommend this model of Salomon shoe, I am impressed by the company's warranty.
