ZERO STARS. Most uncomfortable boot ever made with two serious design flaws. First and worst is on the outside of the boot on the in-facing sides. There is a faux leather strip doubled over as a loop for the laces shown in picture 3. You can see the bulge. This is then sewn under a flat plastic plate then plate is sewn to outside of the boot. Obviously in doing so this design flaw creates a lump that in turn creates an uncomfortable pressure point inside of the boot that when laced is immediately noticeable. Number two design flaw is on the inside of the liner where you have a raised vertical white seam from footbed up to near the top of the boot that is comprised of heavy bailing twine like thread rubbing against your ankle knobs like a cheese grater. Buy them and you’ll be returning them. Do not recommend whatsoever. Zero stars. Instead I bought Italian hand made Zamberlan Lynx mid 8” GTX boots from Bob Wards for just $3.00 more that are goretex and well known for comfort and quality that can also be re soled. 100x’s the boot the Salomon is. Also Salomon’s are made offshore where as Zamberlan liked the U.S market so much they built a factory here in America giving AMERICANS jobs. Would have bought Zamberlan’s in the first place but I did not think they would be affordable considering they are considered one of if not the worlds best boots but then a friend said these Zamberlan’s are actually just $309 on their website. Then saw Bob Wards selling them at just $262!!! Get them you will be ecstatic!

Some comments on this boot: as compared to the first generation version of these boots, there's been a chunk of plastic added to the internal lateral side of the boot, ostensibly for more durability during rapelling, quick rope descents. Problem is, to me at least, this plastic makes the boot uncomfortable when squatting or taking a knee, bsaically whenever the ankle would be at an angle, because this plastic digs into the side of the foot. Also to take note of: the "US" size of these boots seems to run at least a full size smaller than many comparable boots. In many American-made boots I wear a 9.5, in some of the European ones a "9" fits, in this one actually a 8.5 fits. Not a complaint, but just a "FYI" - the included laces are about twice as long as would be reasonable.

I’m a police officer in south Texas, it gets hot, and when it rains it pours. I sometimes work 16hr shifts so comfortable performance footwear is a must. These boots are comfortable even after 16 hours. They are waterproof in standing water, and they really don’t get that hot. They take a few days to break in but once they do you barely notice they’re there. Very good ankle support without feeling restrictive. They’re not running shoes but you can run in them, for boots they’re a respectable weight. And yes, If your department requires boots to be polishable like mine does, you can polish them to a nice shine! Without polish they’re a non-reflective matte black.

BOOGALOO BOOTS LET'S GOOOOOOO hahaha but seriously these boots kick a** and are super comfy. I bought them for hiking and camping. I got this color/model because they are green and green's my favorite color. When I wear them I feel like powerful and like I have authority. It's weird lol. So cool though.

These boots I have been wearing for years now. I have a pair I bought in 2017 that I wear daily to work and they are still holding up. I bought a new pair for when the old ones die eventually. They're not as heavy as you would expect, they fit extremely well. Once you break them in they form to your foot. Its like stepping into a mold of your feet. I prefer the high boots like these because it has saved me from rolling my ankle many times over the years. I've never had a better shoe. Can't sing enough praise. Bought my husband some and he loves them too. The price might scare some people away, but they are so long lasting i think the price is totally worth it.

Very disappointed. I wear Solomon’s to hike in, and I found them to be light and comfortable right out of the box. These boots are stiff, heavy, and my feet hurt after only 8 hours. I avoid wearing them on my 16 hour days, I wear my worn out under armors instead. I would return them but at the time of purchase the instructions said they would not accept returns if the shoes were worn outside. Not sure how I would know how they would feel unless I worn them at work. I regret ordering them.

I have a narrow foot and an ankle problem. I ordered these in my size, instead of going up a half size and they fit fine, however if I had a wide foot I’m positive they would be too tight. The toe box is roomy and the ankle support appears to be more than adequate. These are not light weight boots, but I am willing to trade the weight for the support. They come with a speed lace system that isn’t speedy but does secure the boot well. The tread appears to be well suited for rough terrain. At first blush, these are definitely 5 star boots, given their known characteristics. If you have a super wide foot or are looking for a lightweight boot, look elsewhere because you will be disappointed. I will edit this review after my first hike

This is my fifth pair and they are the best multipurpose boots I’ve ever owned. Comfortable right out of the box with very little break-in time required, not too heavy but lots of ankle support and waterproof.
