Description

The soft color and raised line of Soufflé add dimension to DIY craft projects. Three dimensional (3-D) ink leaves a raised ink line for writing you can feel. Soufflé pens color on plastic, coated paper, acetate, vellum and glass. One- of-a-kind, 3-D Soufflé ink comes in soft pastels and white, all of which dramatically stand out on dark backgrounds. No need to shake, pump or squeeze – just write slowly to let ample ink flow from the tip and allow time to dry completely. Note: Soufflé is a special craft pen for coloring or lettering. Since the ink flows thickly and takes time to dry it is not ideal for any lengthy writing. Drying time depends on the surface and amount of ink and varies from. White Soufflé ink will appear clear until it starts to dry.

The soufflé pens are very nice to write with and DO write on multiple surfaces. However, I would suggest having a piece of scrap paper with you if you intend to write on something smooth like glass or plastic. The ball can't really get traction on smooth surfaces, so you sometimes need to scribble a bit to get the ink flowing. The colors come out as roughly the same color as the cap but turn paler as they dry. The result is matte, milky, and opaque. Because of the way the colors turn out, I would recommend using these pens on black or dark colored paper, since they don't have nearly as much of a punch on paler colors. The results depends very heavily on the material you are using. The ink doesn't actually puff up--it just doesn't absorb into the paper as much as other thinks and dries like a glaze. Thus, you will see a more pronounced effect when writing on non-porous surfaces but these surfaces will also take longer to dry. When writing on paper, I find that it takes about 30 seconds for the ink to dry for standard notebook paper, and up to 3 minutes for dense, smoother papers. I have not yet tried it on photo paper, but I would imagine that the ink would take even longer to dry. It has a noticeably raised texture and tends to be rather durable for everyday use---if you actually let it dry, and if you clean the writing surface off of any oils or residues. The pens say that they have not been tested for writing on skin--and I wouldn't suggest using them for that purpose. Not only do they simply not WRITE, but the oils on your skin could very well ruin the pen. Furthermore, the ink seems like it would be rather difficult to wash off. You CAN layer this pen over itself, just be very careful. When the top layer is wet, rubbing it will take off the bottom layers as well. The higher you build it up, the easier it is to rub off, and the longer it takes to try. I would suggest giving any project a 2 hour "curing" time, just to be sure. While the doubt the ink dries any more than it does initially on thinner layers, on thicker layers, it really helps, since sometimes the surface dries faster than the rest of the ink. Overall, it does what it says. Whether you want to spend this amount on a decorational pen is up to you, but I'd imagine it would be more useful for the creatively-minded. ... show more

I've been collecting gel pens for years and when I say I've never had pens like these, I mean it. They are bold lined and very pigmented. They can be used of a variety of surfaces like glass and plastic as well as paper. They have a glossy 3D appearance once dried. They're tons of fun to use. I use them for drawing, writing, coloring, and decorating random items(my phone case, my switch, etc) and I'll absolutely buy them again. They do have a bit of a long drying time but that's to be expected with a 3D effect. I will note that if you use too much in one spot when coloring, it can appear slightly cracked once it's dry. These are very much so worth the money and I highly reccomend anyone who loves a good juicy pen to try them! ... show more

I do a lot of multimedia art so if it is something I can use for my art, I'm all over it. I first ordered the black Sakura Glaze pen to try the product out and I really loved the way the ink stayed shiny, looking wet, so I decided to order this ten pack of Sakura Bright multi colors Glaze pens, and I'm crazy about them and how they add to my art. They glide on smoothly and evenly. They are not sheer but cover what is beneath them. They work on many materials (plastic, plexiglass, paper, metal) and standout overtop my watercolor, gouache, or acrylic backgrounds. They do take a little time (5-10. min) to completely dry on some materials but dry much quicker on my watercolor paper. I got the Bright color set which includes a pen that looks like it is white ink but in fact is clear to add gloss to without color. There are other color sets that I will have to try. ... show more

These pens are fun and Unique to any other pens I have worked with. The ink goes on thick, raised above the paper. Be sure not to touch the ink immediately. It takes a moment to dry. If you are a pen enthusiast, I recommend you try these out!!

This is nifty stuff! It writes just like a pen, fine lines, detailed dots, for a swatch a half inch square it filled in and dried smooth. No streaks or pen marks when dry. Drying time is a few minutes, dries smooth and glossy, not exactly shiny, not sparkly. Glossy, like the smooth plastic-feeling of a leatherette purse, but in this case, on paper! So I'm thinking, WHAT will I do with this?!?! It does dry slightly raised lines and dots, so I anticipate it will make great details on my coloring book page. Colors are nice. Sakura is the best gel pen brand you can buy. These souffle pens are so cute and nice. I've wanted some pastel colored markers or pens for a while, but it's really hard to find true pastel colors, but these gel pens manage to do it. The ink is very opaque, even the white, which is nice because you don't have to waste a ton of ink to get a solid line. The souffle pens also bubble up into a 3D image, which is something different and fun compared to most gel pens. They write super smoothly, no skipping or blotches of ink coming out at once. I'd really love to get some more Gelly Roll pens, but unfortunately, they are quite expensive as far as gel pens go, but it is definitely true that you get what you pay for. Cheap gel pens don't write well, have bad colors, skip or cause ink splotches, the ink runs out really fast, etc., and that never happens with these, so they are actually worth the money. I like to use them for doodling in my art journal, making cards, writing in my planner, and once in a while, coloring adult coloring books. I am conscious of coserving the ink, and I don't know if I have to be that careful or not, but I tend to not use them in adult coloring books as much as I do cheaper gel pens, even though I like them way more, haha.
