Decent machine plagued by buggy firmware, and one hardware oversight. I purchased the this 4x4 based on my experience with the Prover 3030 Max. The 3030 Max is a great machine and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I expected the same quality and experience on this machine, however, this 4x4 has been buggy and very frustrating. 1) The gantry only has limit switches on one of the two Y rails. This means that gantry is not known to be square when it is homed. You much check that the gantry is true on each start up. 2) Genmitsu sells a MPG to move the spindle around, but this only functions if no other controller whatsoever is connected. This renders this completely useless. 3) You cannot have the wireless controller and offline controller connected at the same time. 4) When using the wireless controllers, the zero height for the Z axis is reset every time the wireless app connects or between programs. This requires setting the Z height over and over which introduces height errors. Also, if you forget that the to check the Z between cuts you will crash the Z axis. 5) The preview in the wireless app will crash if you are cutting anything wider than 1000mm. 6) The rotary axis requires that the unplug the motors from the Y axis to use. This means it is not a true 4th axis. Also, since the motor is unplugged, it allows the gantry to drift while trying to use the rotary. 7) I can find no way to tram the head pivoting on the X axis. It is simple to tram pivoting on the Y axis. Other than the missing limit switch, the hardware works well. I also have a Onefinity Elite Foreman to compare it to. You can't actually cut a sheet of plywood on the Elite as it should have been an inch wider. Also the gantry weights a ton and shakes everything when it moves. I wish I had the Masso controller from the Elite on this ProverXl 4x4 instead of the buggy system it was released with. I could try hooking up a computer with UGS to run the 4x4. This would not solve the hardware issues, but I hope it would work around the firmware bugs. ... show more
