The media could not be loaded. The Goods: The assembly was very quick and easy. After doing a through review and calibration check of the X, Y and Z axis. I found this machine to be very accurate (~.01mm) with minimal backlash! This CNC seems like a very durable and highly capable machine. I will be doing additional testing in the near future. But so far things feel very solid and accurate. The Bads: (but maybe some good...) During calibration and tolerance checks I found that the provided router had a whopping .3mm runout!!! I was able to email support and after providing a short video of the runout they very quickly sent me a replacement at no cost. I was very happy with the support that was provided from Sainsmart to quickly resolve this issue. The new router is well within acceptable tolerance and will allow me to continue testing. So far, I am very happy with my purchase and it seems like a very capable CNC for the value.

Received this item July 3rd, 2025, but held off on review because of problems encountered with limit switches and gSender software. First, limit switches. After a successful setup and a few test runs, the x-axis limit switches locked in tripped mode and Homing failed to work. Contacted Amazon for help and they informed me that I must contact Genmitsu direct and contact them (Amazon) again if Genmitsu failed to solve the problem. The Amazon agent promised to follow up in a week, but FAILED to do so. In the meantime, I contacted Genmitsu (Sainsmart) via email as they are in China and several hours behind us. They were cooperative but did not have a resolution. However, they did offer a replacement or refund if I wanted to return. I decided to try to resolve the problem myself and traced the circuit to the circuit board mounted to the rear of the X-axis. By disconnecting and reconnecting the connector for the x-axis, the problem went away. The unit then worked great but after a bit the circuit failed again. This happened a few times with reports going back to Sainsmart each time. After carefully squeezing the pins on the connector it seemed the problem was corrected. In the meantime, since I was willing to troubleshoot on my own, Sainsmart sent me a package of spare parts for free. It took a few weeks, but it's working fine now. Second problem. I used gSender version 1.5.1 to control the cnc because I prefer the interface over UGS which is supplied with the unit. The problem was that the machine would only run for a minute or so and then Halt. Sainsmart was not able to help with this problem so I did some experimenting using other software and and found the the same gCode running on Universal gCode Sender (USG) ran without a problem. Turns out, gSender defaults to grblHAL if it doesn't recognize the machine and the Genmitsu only recognizes grbl. Switchint gSender to grbl solved this problem. At first, I was quite upset with my purchase, but am happy with my 4040 Pro Max after resolving my problems. Actually, I learned so much in the process that I am kind of glad it happened this way. Amazon is usually helpful in solving problems, but in this case they flopped and Sainsmart was the winner.

The machine was well packed and the machine itself seems to be well made. I had an issue with the Y axis cabling from the rear profile connecting to the Y axis motors. It appears to me that the cabling within the rear profile is not correct. So, I’m stuck at that point in the assembly and the biggest concern is the support model provided by SainSmart is terrible. I’ve been waiting on some guidance for two days now and if I can’t get this resolved soon, it will be returned. If a resolution is provided, I’ll update this review with additional comments. SainSmart support responded three plus days after support issue was raised. Support told me to reverse the orientation of the rear profile such that the cabling was reversed. While this makes sense to correct the problems with the cabling, additionally, the rubber feet installed in the rear profile will need to be removed and installed on the opposite side not designed to accommodate the feet. This should work but this was an assembly problem from manufacturing and a better solution would be to send a new rear profile with proper cable orientation. It would also be better if SainSmart had a “new install” support process to minimize delays on problems such as these. After several days of working on a variety of problems and several interactions with support, I’ve decided to return the product. The machine keeps throwing alarms and stops operating. Initially the problems began simply starting to home the device, the controls became inoperable and I was able to clear the alarm with the $X grbl command but it always returned to the same type of problem either homing, jogging or running a job. I’m giving up on this machine but I plan to order a SainSmart replacement and try again.

Shipping has some issues but received to late with no damage other than the box. Easy assembly, start up and first use were also easy. YouTube has many videos on this brand of machines if you get stuck. I have had the machine for 6 months or so and still running great. Size is a little small if your looking to do shop shelves or cabinetry. Good for small pieces and those just getting started. Have used everything from easel to freecad to carveco to vectric so any software you decide to use should work fine.

Good machine super easy setup and easy to operate it, has good cut quality at a good price. Had some issues with the software but the support was prompt and helpful.

Absolutely love this machine I'm new to the CNC world and after my research. This unit had everything I needed to get started Improvements I would say the spoilboard needs to be one solid piece instead of two. Also having a grid layout already on it would be a major plus
