  • Self contained with everything you need except the eggs & water
I like that this incubator has everything a person needs to get started hatching chicks. The automatic egg turner is really helpful in keeping the eggs turned every few hours as should be the case. The digital display for monitoring and changing temperature is very state of the art as well without having to hope that your old school thermometer is right - vice versa. The egg candling light built into the top of the unit is very helpful as well, but please note, it works best if you have no other lights on when you candle. Especially important for brown eggs since they are a little harder to see. The instruction manual that accompanies the unit is very helpful and educational as well. There are a few glaring errors in reading the manual, but it is still understandable. Setup and assembly time is minimal, but it's a good idea to read the instructions first. You might expect that I'd give some negative points here such as the unit is made of plastic. Actually I think the unit will clean up better than the styrofoam incubators that have been in use for many years and always seem to break or get damaged somehow. One exploded egg in an incubator and you'll know what I mean. We could discuss the limited number of chicken eggs (12) you can hatch at one time. This may be a blessing in disguise and a benefit for someone not wanting to hatch more than that, or have two or more of these units to run at the same time for different chicken breeds. Those are the only two items that could really be considered as dislikes, but I actually find them to be a benefit in my case. I've raised chickens, ducks, and geese on a commercial level in the past, hatching upwards of 1,000 birds at a time. Using commercial incubators such as Hatchrite and Natureform, it is somewhat different to scale back to an incubator like this, even so, I often ran smaller incubators for testing and custom hatches. But I somehow like this unit and do think that the overall design and simplicity of it would be great for someone just getting started in the art of incubation and hatching as well as the experienced hatching person. I currently have 12 eggs in process and hope to have at least 10 of the 12 hatch at which time, I will update with a picture of the results. I don't consider a poor hatch rate to necessarily be the fault of the incubator itself. It's more common that human error is responsible for failed hatches or poor hatch rates. One personal tip I will share for all is to start with eggs that you have carefully cleaned prior to placing in any incubator. This incubator pretty much provides you with all the tools needed to get a good hatch. ... show more

  • Good incubator for experimenting with hatching
Got this to incubate some chicks, seems to be OK. Not great hygrometer settings, but follow the directions for water in the bottom. The built in turner seems to work decent. It's a better setup than trying to redneck-engineer something yourself.

  • WATCH YOUR CHICKENS HATCH
A nice little incubator for classroom or home use, a dozen eggs is a good amount for home use. Then you can do two or three rotations. You could raise a hundred chick's or more each season. This is a good replacement for the old manual styrofoam incubators of the past. Automatic egg turning along with temperature and humidity monitoring this incubator is practically hands free. The egg candler allows you to monitor growth or bad eggs. A good product children will enjoy and adults will find works well with little effort. ... show more

  • Worked great for 6 chicks!
This Incubator is a reliable and efficient device for hatching eggs. With its capacity to hold up to 12 eggs, it is suitable for both small-scale and hobbyist breeders. One of the standout features of this incubator is its automatic egg turning function. This ensures that the eggs are rotated regularly, simulating the natural incubation process and increasing the chances of successful hatching. The automatic water adding system is another great feature of this incubator. It helps to maintain the optimal humidity level inside the incubator, creating the ideal environment for egg development. The 360-degree view design allows you to monitor the eggs from all angles without disturbing the incubation process. While this incubator offers great functionality, it does require some initial setup and familiarization with the controls. The instructions provided are helpful, but it may take a few tries to get accustomed to the settings. Additionally, the noise level of the motor can be a bit loud, which might be a minor inconvenience for some users. Overall, this Incubator with Automatic Egg Turning, Automatic Water Adding, and 360-degree view is a reliable and user-friendly option for anyone interested in hatching eggs. It provides the necessary features to create a suitable environment for successful incubation. We even managed to hatch several of our own chicks with it! ... show more

  • It works
This is the first incubator that I've ever tried so I have nothing to compare this to. I did buy a separate candler and a thermometer/hygrometer to measure the temperature/ humidity. I found that there was about an 8 degree difference between what the incubator thermometer and the one I bought. The incubator said it was higher by 8 degrees Fahrenheit. I used the Styrofoam packaging to insulate the incubator. I also found that it was difficult to keep the humidity at the level the directions said it should be. I ended up using one of the water containers they provided and squirted a bit of water into the bottom of the tray each morning. This allowed me to barely lift the lid. The egg turner worked well. I incubated 8 eggs. When I tried candeling after the first week I ended up discarding an egg too early. I think it probably would have developed, but I'd heard stories of bad eggs exploding in the incubator and had that thought it my mind. It probably would have been better to wait a couple of days and check again. Of the 8 eggs (chicken) 6 hatched with healthy chicks. One I discarded too early. The last looked fully developed but didn't hatch. Perhaps the air pocket wasn't big enough for it. Overall this was easy to use and I had a good hatch rate. I was incubating brown eggs and there's no way the candler on the incubator would have been strong enough to see into the egg. I'm not sure how effective it would be with white eggs. ... show more
