Description

Curious kids try to get into anything and everything, but the Safety 1st OutSmart™ Flex Lock helps you keep them out with the first ever decoy button. Your child will think that the decoy button opens the lock, but pushing it has no effect. You’ll know that the flexible surface hides the actual secret to opening the lock. It installs easily with no drilling required. The adjustable straps let you get a customized fit for cabinets with hardware up to 8 inches apart and can be used on cabinets with either knobs or handle pulls. For periods of non-use, this cabinet lock hangs conveniently out of the way, but stays close for when it’s needed again. In side by side comparisons with leading competitors using real life toddlers, the Safety 1st Outsmart Flex Lock was strong enough to keep even the cleverest of toddlers out. Even in lab testing using state of the art mechanical pull force equipment, Safety 1st outperformed the competition. Toddler Tested. Proven Stronger. This is a 4 pack.

  • A MUST HAVE FOR TODDLER PARENTS!! *Read Full Review For Important Details!*
Size: 4 Pack
I have a three year old who is a SNACK MONSTER! She will even climb, if necessary, to gain access to any cabinet she believes might have food/snacks/candy etc. These locks are fully adjustable with long bands that can be completely released from the loop and inner-locking mechanism. There are 2 small, hidden, pressure-point tabs on the back of each half of the lock. They are sturdy and require strong counter-pressure to loosen (or fully release) each band. The band adjustment tabs are 100% hidden from access once both parts of the lock are in place. Once the bands are re-inserted, and both halves of the lock are secured together, I highly recommend the user to tighten the bands as tight as necessary. There is a bit of learning curve to using these; but they aren't difficult to use and figuring out what works best for you should happen quickly! IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO MENTION: **My toddler WAS able to figure out that she could slip the bands over knobs, essentially removing the entire lock, but that was only IF the band(s) were too loose!** This specific feature (the functionality of the fully adjustable bands) made it possible to place a lock on our refrigerator door handles [which fully connect to the fridge doors at both ends of handle]. These locks have helped us safely secure the fridge as well as the pantry, AND the medicine cabinet... just in case! OTHER NOTES: **My -almost- 8year old IS strong enough to release/remove the lock [but she knows what to stay out of] so I don't suggest these for children older than maybe 5 or 6yrs old or for children with advanced hand-strength/dexterity. (I do not recommend demonstrating how to disengage the lock to anyone that doesn't NEED to know how) **For those who may have cabinets with "cup-pulls" (instead of knobs or handles) I would HIGHLY suggest the Safety 1st hidden, magnetic, lock with the magnet key. The locking mechanisms are installed inside the cabinet. They are a sleeker option if you don't want something that calls attention to itself! The magnetic keys that disengage those particular locks are SUPER strong. That feature, generally, prevents the use of regular fridge magnets as they are not typically strong enough to engage through most materials that you would apply the lock to. Overall, Safety 1st has been my tried and true, GO-TO, brand for various baby need for MANY years! ... show more

  • A must for parents !
Size: 2 Pack
These work so great! The decoy button is deceiving so my toddler can’t figure out how to open it. My son gets into everything so i needed something sturdy and no easy to figure out and these do just the job! Great quality and can pretty much work with many different handles since they are adjustable. I ended up purchasing more for other places in my home. ... show more

  • Impossible for my toddlers to open
Size: 2 Pack
My little guys, ages 18 months and 3 years old, are very clever and strong. They have fingered out other baby safety locks but not this. The fake button is a nice little trick but after a few weeks they have fingered out that the button doesn't open the locks. But they still can't open it, no matter what they try. Its easy for me to open. I had one set of safety locks that worked too good, the plastic laces would get tighter and tighter when the babies tries to pull it open. It would get too tight and I couldn't open them! I don't have this problem with these locks. I noticed another reviewer complained that these locks don't work well with knobs are too close together. It says right on the package that these locks only work on knobs/handles set 3"-8" apart. Also, note, I am using them on handles not knobs. They work great on my kitchen handles but I can't vouch for how they work on knobs. ... show more

  • Love these and I would buy them again but…
Size: 4 Pack
I do love these locks. My son who is almost 4 years old has still not figured out how to open these locks. Though he does know how to close them. We have had this kind from this brand since he was an infant. I had to buy more now that we have another baby in the house who’s even more curious about the cabinets and putting stuff in his mouth. It really helps ease my mind that the locks won’t be left open with my toddler opening them. They are really sturdy. Like I said we have had some for 4 years and they are still going strong. The fake button makes all the difference in the world with child proofing. My4 year old has figured out the majority of the baby proofing that we have used except for these. They are easy for an adult to open but tricky for the kids who don’t understand how they work. They are easy to install. There are a couple of things though I do dislike though in an effort to keep my baby safe it I can deal with the issues. One problem is if you tighten them too tight the lock won’t unlock. It has to be enough to prevent opening but not too much or you’ll have to break the lock open with a screwdriver. Removing the screws on the back of it doesn’t do much for you. You’ll have to pry it apart with possible breakage. We had that with one of our old ones and I had it happen with one in this new pack too. It’s a hard balance to achieve and if you don’t know that you’ll make the mistake. Problem number two is when tightened enough to prevent the cabinets from opening the lock sticks out. That means the straps are in the way and you’ll bump your legs on them. I tried this time to cut the straps shorter after they were properly adjusted. I didn’t want to cut too close at first because it wanted to be able to pull it through again if I needed to remove it. But what ended up happening was both my husband and my toddler cut themselves on the straps. So if you leave the straps as is you’ll catch yourself on them and if you cut themselves shorter your cut/scratch yourself. Not ideal. Since I had already done it and I don’t want that to happen I cut them down to the very edge now. So if they get messed up I probably won’t be able to put them back on ver well but at least we have less of a chance of getting scratched by them. So while not easily removed and they stick out from the cabinets, they do their job of keeping the cabinets locked. ... show more

  • Truly Childproof (Even for Adults!)
Size: 4 Pack
These are definitely childproof locks—so much so that I forgot how to unlock them myself and had to come back to Amazon to figure it out! Once you get the hang of it, they work great and feel very secure. If you’re looking for something reliable to keep little ones out, these do the job well.

  • Safety first
Size: 4 Pack
Easy to install on cabinets with double doors. Our cabinets have handles instead of knobs, but I think they would work just as well with that style. While the doors still open a little when my toddler pulls on them, there is no way she would be able to put her hand into the cabinet to pull anything out. The button to release the child lock is very well hidden, to the point that I struggled to find it at first. But they are very easy to open when you need to get into a cabinet. And the decoy button on the front is genius for distracting curious little ones. ... show more

  • Hard to remove
Size: 4 Pack
These are easy enough to put on but a huge pain to get off. I tested one out before I put it on a cabinet and then once it was on, we couldn’t get it off. We ended up cutting it off with scissors. For kitchen cabinets we’re using throughout the day, these are way too annoying. I feel like I’m constantly buying Safety First brand products and end up hating them. ... show more

  • Effective & economical, easy to use solution!
Size: 2 Pack
Got this for set of French doors to the office to keep the cat out. Cat busts thru the doors to get to things to chew on and quickly broke the plastic bar type safety lock, which was much harder to use. These work excellent; loops are adjustable and it's easy open with one hand, easy enough to lock. Having two, we have one on the outside and inside of the doors, to easily lock when we're in the office. Turned out to be a very economical and effective, hassle free safety lock for double doors (or handles). ... show more
