Description

Curious kids try to get into anything and everything, but the Safety 1st OutSmart™ Flex Lock helps you keep them out with the first ever decoy button. Your child will think that the decoy button opens the lock, but pushing it has no effect. You’ll know that the flexible surface hides the actual secret to opening the lock. It installs easily with no drilling required. The adjustable straps let you get a customized fit for cabinets with hardware up to 8 inches apart and can be used on cabinets with either knobs or handle pulls. For periods of non-use, this cabinet lock hangs conveniently out of the way, but stays close for when it’s needed again. In side by side comparisons with leading competitors using real life toddlers, the Safety 1st Outsmart Flex Lock was strong enough to keep even the cleverest of toddlers out. Even in lab testing using state of the art mechanical pull force equipment, Safety 1st outperformed the competition. Toddler Tested. Proven Stronger. This is a 4 pack.

  • Truly Childproof (Even for Adults!)
Size: 4 Pack
These are definitely childproof locks—so much so that I forgot how to unlock them myself and had to come back to Amazon to figure it out! Once you get the hang of it, they work great and feel very secure. If you’re looking for something reliable to keep little ones out, these do the job well.

  • The future of baby proofing is now! The future of baby proofing is now!
Size: 2 Pack
I was hesitant at first to buy these because there are cheaper options available but I was enticed by the placebo button on the front so I went ahead and did it. And we love it! Pros: - The placebo button is genius: not only does it work at tricking toddlers into pushing it, but my 18-month-old son often (not always) gets less frustrated at this device than our other baby proofing gear because he gets distracted by the button and then treats it like a toy rather than screaming when he still can’t get the fireplace open. - It’s very adjustable! Put it on everything from cabinets to fireplaces to fridge doors. And if you rent (like us), then you don’t have to worry about holes or damage on the walls/doors - Unlike the u-shaped ones, this doesn’t have any rigid, sharp or stick-like parts waiting to gouge out an eye. The zip-tie portion is flexible and smooth, unlike the vicious teeth and prongs of last-generation baby locks. Cons: - It’s not an air-tight closure, there is some give to it even when you tighten it all the way. So finger-pinching is likely to happen in slightly cracked-open doors (although this has, in my experience, always been the case for these kinds of locks) - Definitely pricier than other options (but worth it, in my opinion) All in all a great step forward in innovation for baby-proofing products. ... show more

  • Safety first
Size: 4 Pack
Easy to install on cabinets with double doors. Our cabinets have handles instead of knobs, but I think they would work just as well with that style. While the doors still open a little when my toddler pulls on them, there is no way she would be able to put her hand into the cabinet to pull anything out. The button to release the child lock is very well hidden, to the point that I struggled to find it at first. But they are very easy to open when you need to get into a cabinet. And the decoy button on the front is genius for distracting curious little ones. ... show more

  • Love these and I would buy them again but…
Size: 4 Pack
I do love these locks. My son who is almost 4 years old has still not figured out how to open these locks. Though he does know how to close them. We have had this kind from this brand since he was an infant. I had to buy more now that we have another baby in the house who’s even more curious about the cabinets and putting stuff in his mouth. It really helps ease my mind that the locks won’t be left open with my toddler opening them. They are really sturdy. Like I said we have had some for 4 years and they are still going strong. The fake button makes all the difference in the world with child proofing. My4 year old has figured out the majority of the baby proofing that we have used except for these. They are easy for an adult to open but tricky for the kids who don’t understand how they work. They are easy to install. There are a couple of things though I do dislike though in an effort to keep my baby safe it I can deal with the issues. One problem is if you tighten them too tight the lock won’t unlock. It has to be enough to prevent opening but not too much or you’ll have to break the lock open with a screwdriver. Removing the screws on the back of it doesn’t do much for you. You’ll have to pry it apart with possible breakage. We had that with one of our old ones and I had it happen with one in this new pack too. It’s a hard balance to achieve and if you don’t know that you’ll make the mistake. Problem number two is when tightened enough to prevent the cabinets from opening the lock sticks out. That means the straps are in the way and you’ll bump your legs on them. I tried this time to cut the straps shorter after they were properly adjusted. I didn’t want to cut too close at first because it wanted to be able to pull it through again if I needed to remove it. But what ended up happening was both my husband and my toddler cut themselves on the straps. So if you leave the straps as is you’ll catch yourself on them and if you cut themselves shorter your cut/scratch yourself. Not ideal. Since I had already done it and I don’t want that to happen I cut them down to the very edge now. So if they get messed up I probably won’t be able to put them back on ver well but at least we have less of a chance of getting scratched by them. So while not easily removed and they stick out from the cabinets, they do their job of keeping the cabinets locked. ... show more

  • Impossible for my toddlers to open
Size: 2 Pack
My little guys, ages 18 months and 3 years old, are very clever and strong. They have fingered out other baby safety locks but not this. The fake button is a nice little trick but after a few weeks they have fingered out that the button doesn't open the locks. But they still can't open it, no matter what they try. Its easy for me to open. I had one set of safety locks that worked too good, the plastic laces would get tighter and tighter when the babies tries to pull it open. It would get too tight and I couldn't open them! I don't have this problem with these locks. I noticed another reviewer complained that these locks don't work well with knobs are too close together. It says right on the package that these locks only work on knobs/handles set 3"-8" apart. Also, note, I am using them on handles not knobs. They work great on my kitchen handles but I can't vouch for how they work on knobs. ... show more

These are AWESOME!! Genius design. Easy to use and child will not be able to access - even if they watch you the dexterity just isn’t there for them.

  • DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY
Size: 4 Pack
DO NOT BUY!!! I wish I could give it ZERO stars. These locks are impossible to use. I bought the 4 pack and one out of the four didn’t even work. Okay no big deal I have 3 left. The one I put on my kitchen cabinet worked for 24hrs then it would not unlock at all. No matter how hard I squeezed the unlock mechanism it refused to open. It literally locked ME out of my cleaning cabinet. I had to resort to scissors to cut it off the cabinet in order to get to my stuff. This caused me to scratch the door because of the scissors. So unless you want to be locked out of your stuff or have to damage your cabinets just to remove this lock avoid it at all costs. ... show more
