This gate was super easy to install. I’ve had it a few months in preparation for our little one crawling. He’s all over now! I installed this by myself with no directions. Was a little funky to get it up by myself and stay in one spot while tightening, but as soon as I tightened the top two, I got the bottoms no problem. Super easy locking mechanism, swings both ways to open and shut and locks by itself. One thing to keep in mind is to not overtighten the top mounts, as it won’t close and it’ll be tight to open. I loosened it a little (it still can’t be ripped down by the tiny hands) and it works perfectly!! 10/10 would absolutely buy again. I didn’t need the extra pieces, but saved them in case we move and need them in the future! ... show more

This would have been a 5-star review except for the fact that by default the handle is very difficult to open, to the point that it hurts the hand. An 85 year old grandma *should* be able to open this if it works properly. Clearly this is a defect in production that could be easily fixed by the manufacturer. That said, a little WD-40 fixed the problem and so we will by another one because there isn't anything better on the market. Lots of reviewers have reported the same problem. If you remove the screws to lubricate the assembly, take extra care as there are springs in there and it's a little difficult to re-assemble. ... show more

The flaw is built within and needs a correction if you open it up and examine the mechamism you'll be able to see what needs to be fixed. It has to do with the locking mechanism. If not for me having to fix that I would give this 5 stars. Otherwise it works and is durable but the engineering team that works on the design should run more tests to identify and fix the problem. ... show more

    • Hard to open
Color: White Style: Baby Gate
Hard to open even for adults. There are 4 small screws that keep the lock mechanism together. Once removed you will find 3 plastic pieces, button switch, too switch, and the magnet that connects to the other side of the gate. Then there are 2 springs for both top and button switches totaling 5 components all together. I used lubricant I had laying around from building a mechanical keyboard. Light lubricant on the springs and medium on the plastic component guides. They fix took about 15 minutes without any instruction and it works better than new now (literally). There are also spray lubricant options that you can spray into the small openings and skip the disassembly step all together. It would be a bit more messy and would require a wipe down. ... show more

Does anyone know how to fix the locking mechanism? This gate is extremely hard to open. If it wasn't for this, I would give it 5 stars all the way around
