I thought I had a California, but after this arrived, I found the tag on the back of my first rug says Milan. So, I have both. They are both very nice. The Milan is definitely fluffier and thicker than the California. The California is very nice though, the kids will still roll around on it, and it feels soft on your feet. The California has a little sheen to it - but the Milan color is flatter. Either one is very nice. They stay fluffed, not flat when you walk on them. Definitely use a pad under them.

I saw this at a friends house and asked her the specific name so I could order the same one. It is so fluffy and comfortable. I have two kids and needed a rug for one of their rooms that would be comfortable for them to play on. Our house is all hardwood and this provides a comfortable place to sit and play but also sound dampening. We LOVE this rug! It’s the perfect shade of pepto bismol meets hot pink! However, this is not a plush/soft rug. It is dense and kind of scratchy, you can kind of tell based on the picture of the close up. We have another Safavieh rug and we LOVE IT and the other model is much softer. Even though we don’t love how scratchy it is, we love this rug and don’t have plans to return it. Did smell a little chemical-y upon arrival but that has faded. You will need non slip grip pad for this rug. So TLDR if you’re looking for a shag that’s dense and colorful, this is it! If you want something softer, another trim (not California) may be best.
