This rug is absolutely gorgeous - the colors are stunning (has many accent colors - so you have a lot of options for wall paint, pillows, etc. to tie with the rug). The quality of the rug is very plush, very tightly-woven wool. The backing is soft, evenly woven, and well-finished - like it was engineered to sit on a hardwood floor for years without scratching or marking. The blue is somewhere in between "wedgewood blue" and teal, and changes depending on the light in the room. Before this purchase, I bought the 20' runner in this same color and was giddy when I got it & discovered what a beautiful find it was! The bigger 7'6" x 9'6" size goes beautifully with the runner, and the scale of the bigger rug offers a bigger pattern than the runner. The colors of the two rugs are exactly the same, and both rugs have similar elements in the pattern. The two styles of rug aren't "matchy matchy" but belong in the same "family" and work well to organically tie a room and hallway together without looking contrived. The pictures of this collection of rugs don't do them justice at all! I bought the runner on a wing and a prayer hoping it would work out despite the terrible photos online (and no closeups), and am thrilled I took the chance! I looked high and low online and didn't find any rugs comparable in price. For this reason, I was leery about the quality. The happy ending is: Quality WAY exceeded my expectations, and both rugs are of the exact same quality, so this line of rugs is the real deal (AT a real deal)! The only "con" I've experienced so far in the three months I've had the rugs: they are shedding A LOT and weekly vacuuming is a MUST. Having never owned a hand-woven wool rug before, I assume this is an initial "breaking in" period, and it will stop shedding eventually. Oddly, the shedding hasn't reduced the quality of the rug at all, which was my concern (bald patches, unevenness, etc.). In short: I feel like I got the deal of the century!

This rug is absolutely gorgeous! Very thick and plush. the colors are brilliant, but not so bold that they look cheap. It looks exactly like the photo. It is not what I would call "blue". It is more of a "teal" Other colors include deep chocolate brown, cream, and caramel. I couldn't be happier. One has to be cautious on this one, though. There is a "blue and brown" colored rug, and a "brown and blue" colored rug. Two totally different rugs. I think some of the negative reviews may have been caused by accidentally ordering the wrong rug. I can't say about shedding. I've only had it a few days. I also bought a quality pad for under it because they say it extends the life of the rug and I certainly don't want to lose this one because of my own neglect. Also, when you vacuum, don't use the beater bar. As you will see in my photos, my cats love it, too. I am going to order a second one for the dining room, I love it so much! Update 9/15/2016. I purchased the second rug for the adjoining dining room, an 8 X 11, and it is just as nice as the original. I will say that after looking at paint chips, I am changing my first thought. the background is not teal, but a sea blue. All the paint chips that came close had names like Pacific Blue, Lost Atlantis, etc. Just a touch of green in the blue. Absolutely beautiful!. While there is some shedding, I would certainly not call it excessive. I have had several compliments and completely recommend.

We have been looking for a reasonably priced large traditional area rug for our dining room and finally pulled the trigger on this one. My wife and I are both happy we did. It did arrive a bit late but that wasn't a big deal to us. The packaging was pretty decent. The size is as stated, the colors are beautiful and the carpet has a very good feel under foot. I am impressed. It has the look and feel of much more expensive rugs. I know because I checked them out at Mansour's Rug Gallery in Roseville CA. That place is awesome but you better have a solid bank account and a sound heart before you start looking at the price tags. When you read the other reviews for these rugs you will see many that have problems with massive shedding and a need to vacuum constantly leading to a loss of sheen or comfort or whatever. My wife vacuumed this one with her Dysan vacuum and picked up some fuzz but nothing out of the ordinary. We have two wool carpets from Costco that were worse. My wife does not expect this to be an issue. If it develops into one I will be back. The other main issue seemed to be about color being off or very drab color. This is decidedly not so with the carpet we received. It is beautiful. My only concern is that there is one area where the carpet was rolled and folded unevenly leading to a crease that is noticeable right now but could very well flatten out over time. If it does I will return and give this carpet 5 stars. If it doesn't I am not sure what I will do but either way I will update the review in a few weeks. We are very satisfied and will be looking for another even larger rug from Safavieh for our family room.

We were looking to cover the large area of our living room, this 12X18 rug turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. In this size category, there weren’t many options. We have been using Safavieh rugs for a long time and have a couple of them in our family room including a runner 2x8 and a 7x9. They are going well and there hasn’t been much shedding in last 2 years. This blue/brown rug is beautiful, we have teal color sofa set in our living room, we were hoping this teal color will match with sofa color, we were please to realize, not only the color is matching with our sofa set but the brown color on the border adds beauty to this luxury Rug, the way we have put this on the floor, on one side it is showing up from where sofa starts and on the other side of the room we have put our lavender color sofas on it- don’t think it will slip. We have not put any rug pad underneath as its plush, high pile and comfortable to walk and sit! It has added a luxury look to our living room (we earlier had a white shag rug (9x10) and a square (8x8) hand knotted rug which we have moved to our basement!! My kids helped me to set this up, UPS left it outside our garage and my son brought this in (it’s heavy), we had to move around our furniture to put this rug! I vacuumed it immediately after putting it and found no excessive shedding- I have had wool rug and hence knew that it will shed a bit, this rug fully met our expectations- my kids and wife are appreciating the fact that we decided to go with the Safavieh rug, the thank you note from Safavieh in picture, clearly states about wrinkles (there are some), I am not worried about it, I know it will go away in no time! There is no smell or bad smell as reading from some other reviews- Simply awesome! I will further update the review id anything changes. I am glad we made this decision! I was apprehensive initially but once ordered kept reading reviews as I wasn’t sure! If you are looking to add the luxury look, protect wood flooring and be comfortable while walking or sitting on the rug- Trust me- you won’t be disappointed, this is the rug foe you! One of my kids started rolling on the rug, upon checking I couldn’t find any excessive wool on his clothes :-) Colors in different light/shades may look dark or lighter, so please be prepared to move around your floor lamps- Overall a must buy, highly recommended! The rug is soft, and very beautiful to look at. It sheds too much for my taste. My pets love to lay on it-other than that-nothing too special. If you don't mind all the shedding and cleaning this will require. The color is true to the image shown and it does seem like good quality. I am using it in my dining room. If you have maid or someone that will do the cleaning then it's okay. =) (Not my case-I am the one cleaning and I prefer a rug with less shed)

This is an incredibly well-manufactured rug. I know this because we already have the same pattern and maker as a runner in our hallway. That runner is at least 7 years old and still looks just as good as the rug we purchased just a couple of weeks ago. Stains don’t show, the pattern is beautiful, and the rug is wonderfully thick. I would definitely buy this again if I had to do it over. I truly feel this was money well spent. Don’t think twice about the quality -- just make sure the pattern is right for you.

I really tried to like this rug. We thought the colors and pattern were beautiful when we unrolled it. We bought this last minute because we were hosting Christmas dinner last year (2015). It has been about a good 3 months and this rug is shedding more by the day! Initially, I was optimistic and told myself all wool rugs shed for some time and kept vacuuming. Not this long if it were a good quality wool rug. I also recently picked several areas throughout the rug and gently pinched them. All the times, a fair amount of the rug came undone onto my fingers. I did some more research online recently and found out if you are looking for a good quality wool rug, make sure it is long hair knotted (whether machine or hand). This is a short hair (not) knotted wool rug that fairly comes undone. At several places, there are thick white threads that are visible on the top of the rug. We bought this because we wanted a chemical free rug that my 3 young kids can play on. They definitely play on it but are covered in short hairs. Its as if we have a small animal (we don't own any pets) in the house. I'll find hairs throughout the house in big clumps. In retrospect, I would have waited to save up for a rug that we can enjoy. Now it only annoys me. I plan to save for a better rug and place this under formal dining table since it won't get that much foot traffic then. If it still sheds, I'm gonna toss it out and accept my very expensive mistake. I should have listened to the other negative reviews that voiced shedding as a concern.
